I love this place! The combo #8 and the place is spotless-so clean! The staff is great too! It's my "go to" place!

I love this place. Open 24 hours and good food! I would give them 5 stars but when they mess my order up, which has happened a few times, it can make it where I can't eat it. Mostly it's the confusion of grilled chicken and chicken. Their regular chicken is to spicy for me. I know, I'm a wimpy when it comes to heat. So again this happened to me today. I was anxious to try this new restaurant, since I love Mexican food; and the Rusty Taco was O.K. if you like street tacos but they aren't my favorite type of taco. On my first visit, I ordered a crispy shredded beef taco and a fish taco. Both were good but my favorite was the beef taco, since it was just like tacos that I love at another restaurant on Leetsdale, which is not as close to where I live. The shredded beef is placed inside the corn tortilla before it is folded over and deep-fried, then they open the top a little to add shredded lettuce before serving. You can add the green or orange-colored sauce, which isn't like a thickish red Taco Bell-type sauce but it's got lots of flavor and a little heat. I returned for my second visit today. I had another crispy shredded beef taco and a tostado, which was bean even though I ordered beef but it was delicious; and when I called about it only being bean, I spoke with a friendly woman who said that she would make it right. This place is awesome. Really similar (maybe owned by the same people?) to Tacos Rapidos. Anyways the food is delicious and we're 99.9% happy with them out of all the times we've been there. Last time though, the food was so hot it melted the styrofoam container and we couldn't eat one of our items because of health concerns. I hope this doesn't happen again. read more

What a terrible experience. I have never been to Taco Star and it was late at night around 2 am so I thought I would give them a try. They were the only place open at this time of night in my area. I ordered a carne asada burrito which comes with guacamole, salsa, and carne asada. The price on the menu... $7.95. A bit pricey but I was willing to pay it because I was hungry and they were the only ones open at 2 am. I come to the window and I am charged $9.94 with tax included. I noticed once I drove off so I came back and did the calculation, it should have been $8.58 (8% tax). But at the window the guy said that's the price of the burrito and he shows me the order receipt which says they charged me $9.20 for the burrito instead of the $7.95 that's posted on the menu. When I questioned it I was told "well that's the price over there but up here it's different." What in the world? That's messed up. That's deceitful. So I asked for a refund and he didn't process it. He said come back tomorrow to speak with the boss. What a terrible way to treat customers. So I said ok and drove off. I opened up the burrito and I kid you not the thing was 50% tortilla. There was barely any meat and I am not joking, there was no guacamole. All you had was meat and salsa no guacamole like advertised. I was so mad!!! wouldn't pay $7.95 let alone $9.20 for a burrito if I had known it would be this bad. Called them in the morning and was told this is the price of the burrito, the price of meat has gone up and we plan to reduce the prices back once the economy gets better. Literally told the word "economy". They barely put any meat in their and they want to use the word economy? Get the f outta here! That was just a dirty stunt pulled by whoever owns this place. This doesn't keep customers returning so I will starve or find another place to eat but will never come back to taco star! You have lost my business and I eat out like 2 times a day on average so I could have been a long time customer. But you lost me with the terrible service, pricing, and terrible portion size. I'd be upping this to four or five stars, as the food is quite good, the menu is large and varied, open 24 hours, fast service, and it's great to have a place like this in the neighborhood after Rusty's closed. BUT...what is with the smell in this place? It smells like they clean with full strength industrial solvent every couple of hours! It is really hard to take and my wife and I can't figure out how anyone could sit in there and eat in that stench. The first time we went, my wife thought that someone might have gotten sick in there and they had to clean it up. But when we went back a week later it was the same! Super upset at this place, it is where R Taco used to be. The tacos here are super bland, hardly any flavor at all. The fish taco was nothing but breading that's all I could taste was dough, I've tasted Taco Bell stuff that has more flavor than this place. The food was nice and hot and also fresh. The food is good but the workers here are incompetent. If I order Uber eats from this place they literally forget my drink every single time. I've even called them before hand and said please make sure you give the Uber eats driver my drink and give me extra sauce and they still don't do it. This business is price gouging during the pandemic. The employees are also shortchanging customers. Would advise going to los Tortugas or somewhere else until their management starts getting on top of things. I was glad to see a new tack place go in where the Ill-named "Rusty Taco" was. I've had their breakfast burritos a couple times- the bacon is always a little underdone and it's hard to see the menu in the drive thru. They do have good flavor and are huge burritos. The drive thru attendant is always helpful despite the small menu. I'll keep trying since they opened recently... I think this place will improve. read more

We both ordered the carnitas plate and what we got was outstanding! Moist flavorful pork cooked to perfection along with guacamole, rice, beans, lettuce, and a very large tortilla. We drove about 20 miles specifically for Taco Star and were not disappointed! We even ordered a couple of breakfast burritos "to go" for our morning breakfast! We first tried Taco Star by happen chance in Commerce City and have wanted to find one closer to us in Douglas County. So glad we found this one in Aurora! read more

I was skeptical to try this place and finally did tonight. We ordered the carne asada burrito, chicken chimichanga, and rolled tacos. The guacamole was not fresh, it was forest green color and runny. Gone downhill fast! My first 2 times here it was good. 3rd time thought it was a fluke that everything was so bad. Went through the drive thru a couple days ago and don't think last time was a fluke. When I got home I was missing one of my orders. The way they packed the enchilada order, much of it was in the bottom of the bag instead of the container. The chips were packed in the top of the bag but had some kind of brown liquid in the container. Nope - we weren't going to eat those! All around bad experience. By far the worst place to eat. Taco star on Havana, Co. Came in through the drive-threw and order some carne asada fries. The carne Asada fries had a small hair in it. So not only did I not get a receipt but threw away the fries. I had called the store to see what they can do about it, as I told the "manager" that I no longer had the fries because I threw them away. Why would I carry some fries with a hair in it. So she asked me to come in and get a refund or a new order. As I pulled up, a older woman starts to argue with me saying she wasn't going to give me anything. That she wanted the fries I threw away. And that the "Manger" was busy on a meeting at 9 Pm at night.. Alright, So I stood there and I had another older man come and yell at me saying he wasn't going to give me anything. Yet repeating my store again. He wasn't listing to what I was saying. Yelling over me I had the chance to ask him who he was ? Like the manger I spoke with was a girl. Not a guy. and he said he wasn't anyone important. Saying to call Trump, Obama, and god knows who else. To see what they can do about it. So I wait there and the older woman I had argued with earlier took her sweet time to make my food and throws them to me threw the drive-though going into my car. Saying "Here Are Your Fucken Fires."
