I had a very disappointing experience with this location. My order had multiple issues. The chili relleno I paid for was completely missing. I requested beef in my chimichanga but was given chicken instead. On top of that, the chicken in my quesadilla was served in large chunks rather than shredded, which affected the quality of the meal. I attempted to resolve the issue by contacting the restaurant directly and was told a manager would call me back within 20 minutes. I never received a call. People kept telling me to try Taco Star and I have no idea why I have been sleeping on it, but the other night we finally decided to try it. Got 2 carne asada tacos, one crunchy ground beef taco and carne asade fries. All of the tacos were amazing. Especially with the tomatillo salsa. That one is my favorite. I wish they gave more of it. The carne asada fries were good, but I felt like they lacked something. The carne asada was delicious but I wanted more stuff on top to make it at least seem like loaded. I was driving down Havana and spotted Taco Star. I went in with my Boyfriend to try it. I was so impressed. It was truly authentic Mexican food. Being a Southern California native, it's been tricky to find good Mexican places in Denver. This one takes the cake. I had 2 asada taco and 1 fish taco and it was so good. It was 20 dollars for two people. I think that's a hell of a deal. They also have a 24 hour drive through which is awesome on a late night. I recommend this place without a doubt. My fiancé and I have eaten here several times over the past four years. The prices have been good, the food has been great. Last night, however, we noticed a few changes... the prices have increased, and some of the menu items seem to have changed, almost as if some new management has taken over or something. I ordered an enchilada plate like I always have, with beef. What I received was nothing like the enchiladas I have received in the past. These were corn tortillas filled with grilled vegetables and one single sliver (1 inch x 1/2 inch) of beef. I asked the front counter what was up with this, and he acted like this was the norm. He checked with the cooks, and they all refused to make it right. I gave them their food back and we left. I will never set foot in that place again, and will be sure to let all my friends and acquaintances know that this Taco Star is no longer what they used to be, and that they refuse to remedy their mistakes. If you order enchiladas from this place, be prepared for a heaping helping of grilled vegetables instead, and enough beef inside to feed a goldfish. This used to be a great place with great food.
