Absolutely awful. I ordered an enchilada and taco plate and this is what I got. The service was terrible and the girls were laughing at me after I paid. I may look white but I am not. I felt completely discriminated by this place just because I wanted quick food on May 5th. Shame on you. Taco Star! Do better. I will never come back. "Hampden Ave" Taco Star

Just ordered through the drive-thru and got home a couple minutes ago. My rolled tacos are ice cold!! WTF!

    Colorado smothered burrito !!!

Taco star Colorado smothered burrito is the worst burrito ever created. They should be embarrassed of this food. This is not traditional Mexican food at all no flavor soggy potatoes no flavor once again tortilla thick. I feel like I'm chewing on three at a time. This was not a good meal for $30. They should be ashamed. I will not bring that home to abuelita.

    Shredded beef fried tacos

I picked up 2 tacos de adobada and 2 shredded beef tacos. Adobada was street taco style on 2 corn tortillas. Shredded beef was fried hard shell. Flavor was good but not great. Great taco Tuesday deal at $2 per taco, if you're on a budget. I wouldn't pay the $3.25+ regular price. At $2, it's a nice deal.

The food was subpar. I ordered the taco and enchilada combo plate. It was bland and the ingredients felt cheap. I was especially unimpressed with the refried beans. The service and ambiance were about average. This is not an out-of-the-way let's try Mexican restaurant.

Found a large piece of metal in my breakfast burrito. I hurt my tooth poring into it. I could have died?? Very dangerous at least. The health department might have something to say about that. WTF?

Was immediately impressed by the staff. Greeted right away and they fully explained which food was safe and which ones to avoid. Also explained their precautions and overall process which was great. The place was very clean and looked well taken care of. The food itself was pretty great, given what they're trying to do without using flour. Texture was pretty spot on, but really the flavors are what got me. We tried both the plain and Nashville hot, and both were good. Tried 4 of their available sauces and everyone in the family agreed they were solid. The fries and most sides are also free from cross contamination so it was nice having a full meal where nothing was compromised or risky. Also appreciated the variety of lemonades and local sodas over the traditional coke/pepsi fountains most places offer. I won't say this fried chicken is a perfect one for one from my gluten eating days, but they've done a wonderful job of getting pretty close. The flavors and sauces get the experience pretty close in my opinion. Even my kids said they'd choose this over other "normal" fried chicken places. So if you're someone who avoids gluten and are craving some fried chicken, this place is absolutely worth a visit.

It's just as delicious as I remember. Chicken is super juicy and seems high quality. Fries are cooked and seasoned to perfection. Fountain drinks are local with decent ingredients and lemonades are made in-house. Service is friendly and gives good recommendations for dipping sauces. Honestly it's all a win. We opted for 4 pc tenders - an order of classic and one of the spicy variety with a smattering of dips. Love that if you take a picture of your food and scan a QR code it gifts a meal to someone in need. While it may not be the cheapest of fast casual joints, the quality and portions feel worth it. Love that we live within a short drive as I'll definitely come back, especially with our little one as she's also a fan!

Unfortunately despite having enjoyed their menu in the past, I DO NOT recommend anyone come here; if you do ask for a paper receipt and pay in cash to ensure you're not being overcharged. ((Full Details Below)) We loved this location due to the delicious chicken and fries, but have not been here in over a year since the new management. We ordered a whole chicken (10 pieces of chicken variety $28.99 with 2 sauces +$1 each sauce, Large Fries $7.99 + $1.00 for flavor rub, and one soft drink $2.99). The menu is slightly different than from what we remember so we asked for advice, one of the sauces came recommended by the waitress. Note that we already knew the price range and already expected to drop $45-60 for two people, including the tip. We get our food, 5 one sauce 5 another sauce, strongly disliked one of the flavors, we couldn't eat it. Ate the other 5 pieces, it was delicious. We ask if it was possible to switch the 5 pieces of chicken for another flavor, they said since they cannot take the chicken back to the kitchen they won't/cannot switch them with a different flavor, but if we place another order of chicken they will give us 20% off. We decline, we'll just eat the 5 pieces we did like and leave the ones we didn't. Oh well right? That's life. Waitress comes back and says they will give us a discount on the chicken. That's nice of them, thank you! She comes while i'm still munching with an electronic pay pad, no itemized receipt like at other restaurants, points the machine to my fiance to tap his card. Total is $47.something she says, I tell her i'm paying cash so please bring us a paper receipt. She leaves, my fiance comments "that seems high" me, i didn't notice at all. Waitress comes back with the paper receipt and we begin doing our own calculations. I notice that they charged us for two half chickens (16.99 each) instead of what we ordered which was a whole chicken with 2 sauces ($28.99, $1 each sauce = $30.99) That's a $3 dollar difference, in which we are overpaying by $3 than what we had originally ordered. Waitress tries to explain to us that they removed our original order to discount the chicken, but that still doesn't reason why they are charging us for TWO half chickens instead of just discounting off the whole chicken order we originally place. She says it's because it's one sauce so half of the chicken, so half chicken charge. Then we tell her that even with the discount, the way they are charging us for two half chickens cancels out the discount and we are still overpaying at the end compared to our original order. We tell them to remove their discount, we don't want it and to charge us for the whole chicken that we had ordered originally. Waitress goes back to talk to the manager and then comes back and "corrects" the problem giving us a 50% on one of the half chicken orders. This time we weren't overpaying, but they still never corrected the order to reflect our original whole chicken order, keeping the two half chicken orders. At the end if we hadn't noticed we would have left overpaying for a meal we didn't enjoy. The part that is most upsetting is that we were not rude to anyone, just told them we disliked the sauce, accepted when they said they wouldn't switch it out, we didn't ask for a discount, they offered it. Note we still tipped after this. I don't know if this was done on purpose but what I can say is that we felt deceived, we will not be coming here despite this being a staple food spot for our relationship. Very sad.

My coworker and I found an In-N-Out right around the corner from a material pickup, so naturally we stopped. I'd been hearing about the Flying Dutchman and figured today was the day to give it a shot. Big mistake. I love onions -- seriously, pile them on -- but this thing crossed into onion overload territory. Looking at it, I expected flavor fireworks. Instead it just fell flat. The Flying Dutchman felt like a science experiment that forgot the fun part. It needed balance. More burger, less onion tower. The well-done Animal Style fries? Just okay. Not terrible, not memorable. Usually Animal Style is a home run for me, but today they felt heavy and underwhelming. Now for the biggest disappointment: the strawberry shakes. oth ordered one and immediately looked at each other after the first sip. These tasted like vanilla shakes that drove past a strawberry field. I actually took mine back to the counter because I honestly thought maybe something was wrong. Credit where credit is due -- they immediately remade it with no questions asked. Problem was... the second one wasn't much better. We each drank about half and tossed them. The strange part? I normally order a Double-Double Protein Style and it always hits just right. That's usually money. So I'm chalking this up as a lesson learned: Stick with what works.
