CASH ONLY.!! This hole in the wall was not that impressive. Food was average. Price was good the tacos were just $2. Free chips and salsa. The red and green salsas were good and spicy. They had the TV volume competing with the music so it was hard to enjoy the music. The seating was a mix of different style tables and chairs and some were torn. The place looked clean that was a plus.

This place is really good! They served us chips and salsa while we waited for our food. We ordered regular tacos and tacos al vapor and they were both very delicious! The taco plates come w grilled onion, shredded cabbage, tomato, cilantro, and chopped onions on the side. The rice and beans are extra but they serve you a whole plate of rice and beans, So its worth it. Cash only btw.

CASH ONLY I learned about this taqueria because it was listed in Texas Monthly's 120 Tacos You Must Eat Before You Die, and this one was rated 4.75 out of 5 for the "Taco al Vapor de Deshebrada." Basically these are Monterrey-style steamed tacos with shredded beef and potato stewed with chiles and tomatoes. Well, when I inquired about their tacos al vapor (steamed tacos), I found out they had three flavors - de deshebrada (shredded beef and potatoes), de chicharron (pork fat with shredded beef), and de frijol (refried beans with chorizo), all of which are sized small, and costing $1.25 each. Needless to say, I tried them all. And do I agree with Texas Monthly? Well, my favorite taco here happens to be de chicharron, rather than the deshebrada. How much better is it? Well, let's say, I had to order two more of the chicharrones tacos. It was THAT good! And I didn't need to use the sauces they provided (they were extremely spicy anyways). This is my first foray into steamed tacos, and while it's popular in Monterrey, it seems to be not very popular in Texas - but there's a few other spots in town that serves steamed tacos (and I mean places that steam the whole tacos, not just the fillings). Other places, from what I've seen so far, seem to make them only earlier in the day and not so much at night, and maybe offer only one type of tacos al vapor. So for this reason, I give this place props - besides making them very tasty! They also have Norteño burgers, tortas, enchiladas, and flautas. And I saw that they have a special going for 20 steamed tacos for $23 - and that's a good deal especially considering that you should order at least 5 of them to be satisfied with the meal. And more if you're really hungry, since these are smaller than the standard tacos. NOTE: This Taco Rico is actually their second location - with the first location being close by downtown Plano. SERVICE: Friendly, bilingual FOOD: Tasty ATMOSPHERE: Hole-in-wall PRICE: Affordable, CASH ONLY

The goose in the garden drink is our favorite, however not on the menu any more. Isai and Kenia were helping us out all night and they were amazing! Accommodating, prompt, and great personalities! We love to leave friends with our servers, and it isn't hard to do with a staff such as that. Chips and salsa are always fresh, flavorful, and the perfect amount of spicy. We also had the chicken flautas, and they hit the spot! The Mexican candy shots are the best I've had. We can't wait for our next visit!

Could barely hear the person next to me because we were seated next to a party of 10+ people. It may have been best to reserve that area just for them and have us seated elsewhere but no biggie. I was celebrating my birthday here since I've heard great things about the food choices. I ordered shrimp tacos, my family got fajitas and it was pretty decent. Towards the end of dinner, our server was super attentive and brought out a shareable dessert. I believe it was a churro cheesecake which was delicious.

Here in Texas, chips and salsa are such a commonplace experience it's off-putting to pay for them. We ordered the guacamole and the chips and salsa come with it, so that was, I guess, better...but the guacamole was $16, so there's that. The salsa was tasty as was the guacamole, but again, for the portion it's really not worth it. We had the queso flameado, which was yummy and the flour tortillas are good! We split the sirloin and were underwhelmed. For a grilled meats place the steak was very under seasoned and wasn't giving us fresh hot grilled vibes. Meh at best, as were the rice and beans. We ordered elote as a side and it was really the best thing we ate. Service was friendly and efficient! Cocktails average $16ish. Again, for the prices we expected better.

We hung out comfortably and had a couple of drinks before heading out. The food is amazing!! Obviously every dish is meat based here and it's cooked to perfection. Seasoned deliciously and very tender. The garlic mashed potatoes were smooth and tasty. We also ordered Chicharrónes and guac. I'll admit I was very skeptical about The Chicharrónes because they're either cooked right or they're not. They got it down here. Everything was cooked exceptionally well and delicious. 10/10 recommend. Food and drinks are great!

Chris our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. He took his time walking us through the menu and explaining what made El Carlos Elegante so special. The drinks were perfect. My wife loved her Desert Flor while I thoroughly enjoyed my Modelo Micheleda. Her Surf and Turf one hitter was exceptional. I have to say my Crab Cake was just ok. It tasted a little pasty and very heavy on the bread. The Pulpo was absolutely amazing. Perfect texture and the sauce it was served almost had me licking the plate. The El Machete was incredible from its presentation, to the freshness of the corn tortilla, to the quality of the meat inside. Definitely recommend this. We really liked our Okra + Shishito course, we just wished it had more okra in it. The two things I loved about the Al Pastor was of course the sauce it was served on but the fact that I got to enjoy it like a steak. It was served sliced on a bias like flank steak. Typically Al Pastor is finely chopped and served in tacos and burritos, so this was a different eating experience for me. And of course it was delicious as well. We cannot wait to come back and try more of the menu.

That visit checked every box -- the food, service, ambiance, and overall hospitality were all exceptional. What really stood out to me then was the attention to detail. I had casually mentioned that one of my cocktails wasn't quite my taste, and Harry personally reached out afterward to say they'd gladly adjust it next time. That kind of thoughtful follow-up leaves a lasting impression and is exactly the sort of hospitality that elevates a restaurant experience. Unfortunately, this recent visit felt like a completely different restaurant. We decided to do a combination of à la carte dishes along with the Experience menu after being told this version would feature entirely off-menu items, which genuinely intrigued us since Ihad also done the Experience previously. At the start of dinner, we were asked about allergies and dietary restrictions. I clearly explained that I have a mango allergy and do not eat beef. Our server then asked whether I ate other meats, and I clarified yes -- and even specifically mentioned that if the machete dish was beef, please still include it because my friend could enjoy it and I really wanted her to try it. He confirmed it would be the sirloin version, so we happily agreed not to modify that course. So imagine our surprise when one of the first dishes arrived dressed with a mango vinaigrette. Thankfully, we barely caught him quietly mentioning "mango" as he set it down. We immediately looked at each other thinking, "Didn't we just discuss the allergy?" It was disappointing, but unfortunately also representative of the overall service throughout the evening. Our server seemed disengaged, inattentive, and often not fully listening. Empty glasses sat untouched, opportunities to order additional items were missed, and at one point we were simply handed the check without even being asked if we wanted anything else. We also ordered a bottle of sparkling wine and ended up pouring it ourselves for most of the evening because our glasses were rarely refilled. I completely understand not leaving the bottle tableside if walkway space is limited, but repeatedly needing to get up ourselves to retrieve it felt out of sync with the level of service one expects from a Michelin-recommended restaurant -- especially at this price point. Then came the machete dish. Instead of the sirloin version we specifically discussed, we received the vegetarian potato version. When the server asked how it looked, I politely explained that we were disappointed because he had specifically told us it would be the sirloin preparation. At minimum, I would have expected another protein substitution given the earlier conversation about what I could eat. I'm also still unclear whether the Experience menu was truly "off-menu" as described, since several dishes -- including the halibut -- appeared familiar. Had that been communicated differently, we likely would have skipped the Experience altogether and simply curated our own meal. At the end of the night, spending over $500 while pouring our own wine, nearly being served an allergen we explicitly disclosed, and receiving dishes different from what was promised made for a deeply disappointing experience -- especially after such a phenomenal first visit. It honestly felt sad more than anything because I know how wonderful this restaurant can be. I'm not sure what changed in the last five months, but the difference was significant.
