This restaurant was recently remodeled, it's pretty clean and inviting. This is the first time I try it, I ordered the chicken burrito combo, the burrito was so bland that salt and pepper didn't help. The tots were pretty good though. I have personally avoided your restaurant multiple times despite how much I love it because I don't enjoy eating in my car. Now, if your dining room is actually open, then you are shooting your business in the foot by not updating your website. An interesting place to be sure. Bonus points for drive-thru and good customer service. The place has more than enough seating to accommodate what I'm sure is a busy Garmin lunch rush. And there's a decent amount of parking (plus more next door at Arby's/QuikTrip). Went inside and there's a vibrant color scheme going on. It's on par with the new Taco Bells. Came in after receiving a flyer with coupons in the mail and decided to put them to good use. Got a couple of sirloin soft tacos with cheese, the potato oles, cinnamon cream cheese dessert bites, and a stuffed burrito to go along with a couple of different sparkling lemonades. The sirloin soft tacos were good, but very small and still $5 for 2 after coupon. The potato oles were basically coin shaped tater tots and also fine. The lemonades would've been much better had they not been "sparkling". So the benchmark has to be Taco Bell right? Well, sort of. Clearly the food quality here is a step up from Taco bell. But the prices are as well, over double by my calculations. I guess if you want to pay Mexican restaurant prices while being a step down from that quality, this place is perfectly fine. I drove 30 minutes to get to the nearest Taco John's. I hadn't been since I was a kid and all of a sudden I want a churro. Upon entering, I was greeted by two kids who were eager to help me... and waited patiently while I gawked at the menu. They take your name and let you go have a seat and then bring your food out to you. High class. I got the number six, I think. It was a grilled taco. It had shredded cheese and nacho cheese in a hard shell taco, then a tortilla wrapped around that. It was quite good. The oles came with the meal and I had one just because they were there...yum! They have french fry powdered salt on them that make them irresistible. I tried the sweet tea, was weak on tea and strong on sugar. Bleck. The churro was just as I remember it.... totally worth the drive. They even asked if I wanted it with the meal or after, so it would be hot. read more

Oh boy. Taco John's food is great for your taste buds, but probably not the best for your body... and I'm quite okay with it. The menu is standard Mexican fast food with tacos, burritos, nachos and a few other dishes that are reasonably priced with other fast food restaurants. It's a side dish, but I was hooked by the potato oles, a small bowl of tator tots with Mexican flavor salted on them with a side of queso cheese to dip them in. Trust me, they're just as good as they sound. The location is just off of I-35 and 151st Street near the Garmin headquarters. If you're in the area and need a quick bite to eat, this is a great place to be. read more

I like to stop here for breakfast on Wednesdays for their burrito special ($2.49). The drive thru wait is usually 5 minutes or so. The breakfast burritos are great! As for lunch and dinner the speed of service has gotten better. Average wait I would say is 5-10 minutes. The food quality is still the best as far as fast food tacos go. Overall this is a nice Taco John's. It's clean, the employees are great, and the food is good. However, the potato oles where over cooked. Not burnt, but almost chewy. That's not standard for any of the Taco John's I frequent, so I'm hoping it was just an off moment for the fryer. This is a clean location in a nice area, service was quick and friendly. I wish we had Taco John's back home, but we don't, so I always have to hit them up when I travel. I would highly recommend the crispy tacos. House salsa is a must along with potato ole's with cheese sauce. Dip the ole' in cheese sauce to coat, then dip in whatever salsa is left over from your tacos (or get more salsa - it's free). read more

My dine-in lunch order was ready in about five minutes. I liked that you could order lunch items during breakfast hours. The portion sizes were generous, and the prices were reasonable, but the beef in the taco seemed mushy and flavorless. The salsa bar sure beats the packets available at that other place. I drove clear across town to get me some Taco Johns. We get there at 930 and the only lights on were the ones inside the building...so we almost drove by it. So we thought we would sit at the drive through and after waiting for about 5 min, someone finally came up to take our order. I just made it here recently, it tasted just like Taco John's. I have a history with this chain, as my late husband made it his major food group during his life in Lawrence KS. Crispy corn tortilla beef tacos with "super hot sauce", a hot green sauce. The super hot is why you should go to Taco John's. My usual meal is a couple of regular tacos (fried corn shell, taco meat, lettuce), with super-hot sauce, potato oles (a sort of seasoned tater tot round,) and a Pepsi. It's a pretty good fast food meal. I have a soft spot for this chain, but in my biased opinion it's pretty decent for fast food. Not healthy or anything like that :) Try the super hot sauce! Yup this is a Tex-Mex Fast food joint and it's got a decent taco. There's also burritos, nachos, chili, breakfast burritos and salads too. I'm a fan of the taco bravo that's a sort of double decker taco with a hard shell inside a soft shell. I'm sure it's not healthy but when I'm in the mood for it, it's tasty. I also like their potato oles dipped in sauce. They are like mini hash browns with seasoning. If you want something sweet try a churro. It's sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. Staff is always fine but I ordered a breakfast burrito with an orange juice and asked for hot sauce. Everything went fine got my order and proceeded to eat. They gave me hot sauce in a plastic container which I thought was weird as they're normally in packets. Anyway long story short they served me spoiled hot sauce/salsa whatever it was and the orange juice was spoiled. Let's be honest... Its a fast food taco place. But something about this place is way better than "that other joint". Love the stuffed grilled taco...take a crunchy taco filled with beef, cheese and sour cream, then wrap it in a flour shell with a nacho cheese sauce and grill it! Mmmmm. They have a "salsa bar" where you can pick from 4-5 sauces. Its not fancy but I really do like the mild...oh and its way better from the bar vs getting the packet in the drive thru...they are not the same! read more
