The chips and salsa was good to start off with while you wait for your food. The one negative things is that my soft shell taco was cold. The portion of food was amazing and a lot for the price you paid. The location of the restaurant is easy to get to and very inviting once you're inside. I will be back to try other dishes.

I recently visited Adelitas Mexican Restaurant in Cedar Rapids after hearing that they made their…read moretortillas in-house. Sadly, when I inquired about this before ordering, the server looked at me as if I was asking something outlandish and nonchalantly remarked, "We've never done that - there isn't ANY restaurant around here that has the people to do that." This set the tone for an experience that was a mixed bag. Service: Service-wise, I was left wanting. Not only did the server's dismissive response about the tortillas disappoint me, but I also encountered another hiccup when it came to payment. After we had already paid with a debit card, we were informed that ANY sort of card used was subject to a 4% service fee. This felt like a hidden charge that should have been communicated upfront. Another minor issue was the lack of drink refills. My guest ordered a soda and was never offered a refill or asked if they needed anything else. I only ordered water for lunch and was disappointed to be offered a single refill when our food was initially brought by someone other than our server. My cup sat empty for over half an hour while we finished our meal. Food Quality: The food at Adelitas was reasonably tasty but nothing extraordinary. While their flavors were acceptable, their menu offerings of only shredded chicken and ground beef options as protein fillings fall drastically short of what I consider "industry standard." I'm not saying everyone has to have a barbacoa pit out back, but at least having a chicken breast or steak option would be nice. I will say, I did appreciate their lunch special, where you can get two choices that included tacos, chimichangas, burritos, etc., and a very well-made tamale (with your choice of sauces - and they allowed me to substitute in their queso sauce). Atmosphere: Adelitas scores well on cleanliness and location. The restaurant is well-located and offers a cozy, family-friendly environment that makes it a great spot for a quick meal. The interior is clean and spacious, with decor that is vibrant and reflective of the restaurant's Mexican theme, creating a lively and enjoyable dining experience. Outdoor seating is also available for those who prefer it. **Overall Experience:** While Adelitas Mexican Restaurant is a decent choice for a quick lunch on this side of town, my overall experience left much to be desired. With so many better options not only in Cedar Rapids but also in the surrounding neighborhoods, I personally won't be heading back to this particular restaurant anytime soon. For those considering a visit, it might be worth a try if you're in the area and need a quick bite. However, be prepared for potential service issues and hidden fees.

This was our third visit to this Cedar Rapids and I think it'll be awhile before we go back…read more The place has promise, the decor leans to a southwest flair but not over done. All three visits had some glimmer of hope but fell short on the whole each time. The chips and salsa seem to be legit and those have been consistently good. The Barilla Burrito tortilla was done to perfection but what was inside fell short. It could have been outstanding but with tons of rice and very little beans and more importantly, very little Barilla meat it fell short. Service was faster this time but being that it was a Friday at lunch time and we were two of about five people in the place it should have been.

I am baseing this review on one visit, I will probably come back and revisit it after I go back…read morebecause I will be back. The chips and salsa were actually thick not really to my liking but some people do like it that way. The salsa was really good and flavorful with just a hint of spice but beware the first one is free any additional basket of chips is an extra $1.50. I tried the sample platter of dips which was a queso A meat queso and guacamole. All three were very good. On Tuesdays they have a dollar special for tacos, my son had one of each, the chicken and beef and he liked them both. The atmosphere was very nice, very clean with helpful and friendly service I really enjoyed my time here it looked like a nice place and I will come back I advise you to do the same. Updated: I have now been here a few more times and still like this place. The chips are better and the food is really good. Service has improved since first coming out. This is quickly becoming a favorite place to visit.
