Looked at the website to see what I could see, and there were a number of interesting options. I've never gone to the location on the NE side of Cedar Rapids, so it was brand new to me. And this location opened just this week. I chose the #3 Steamer combo. Boy, it looked pretty big in the photos, but not so big when it came to the table. But it was pretty good, but not extra filling. The meats seemed to be fairly fresh as well as the bread. It was busy around 6PM on a Sunday, but the order arrived in a very reasonable amount of time. The combo was over $9, which seemed a bit much. But it is 2016. :( I'd go back again, to try some of the other sandwiches.

I've been here twice and both times were amazing. The staff was super friendly and very entertaining while I was waiting for food. I had the corner New Yorker with corned beef, pastrami and Swiss cheese. It was beyond delicious. I also tried the broccoli cheese soup which was good. A little pricier than other sandwich shops but worth every penny! I also like that they give a portion of their profits to fire fighters. I'll definately be returning

Yes it's a chain restaurant but their hot subs are absolutely amazing. Most times I'm in Cedar Rapids I try to make it over her for lunch. Hope we get one around Iowa City soon. Place is clean and the food comes out fast. I recommend the meatball and the NY steamer

Tried the chili on my second visit. A little pricey but pretty good!

This stuff is on fire! Somebody call the fire department !!! This was my first trip to Firehouse Subs and what a trip it was. As soon as we walked into the door we were greeted enthusiastically -- a nice and welcome surprise. The employees, all three of them, were very friendly, helpful, and quick on their feet. They even shouted good bye even after we made it half way through the door before they noticed we were leaving. They also noticeably stayed busy during our short dine-in visit. It wasn't incredibly busy at 9pm but these guys still took up the entire time actually working all while looking like they were having a good time. A+++ service. It literally could not have been better. To the three young men working, whoever you are -- be proud of yourselves. The food is delicious. It's definitely a step up from Subway or Casey's. Everything from the nests to the vegetables to the sauces -- they test fresh and of a higher quality. I got a Club, a little disappointed by the lack of bacon but still a great sandwich. A friend got an Italian and it just looked fantastic and he said the taste matched. Flavors were great. Even the pickle you get on the side is more... pickle-y . Delicious. The prices are a little high in my opinion. You can get a base medium sandwich (8 inches) ranging from like $6.5 to $9. Adding chips and a drink is going to add roughly $2-3. Upgrading your sandwich to a footlong will also run you $3. However, in the end, I suppose it's up to each person to determine if the obvious uptick in flavor and quality is worth the extra cash. I'll definitely be back as there's a ton of sandwiches I want to try, but perhaps not as often as I would otherwise like.

What makes Firehouse Subs unique is they steam their sandwiches (upon request) which gives them a nice, fresh texture. The Italian was very flavorful and I added cucumbers and banana peppers with pepperoncinis on the side. The subs come in three sizes and on white or wheat bread. I like sampling new sauces at the hot sauce bar to find new favorites. They number the sauces from 1 (mild) to 10 (hottest) so you know what you're getting.

Very gristly meat on the sub, and the bread was wet on one side. Spent $20 on a dinner I couldn't really eat.

Either missed ingredients or extremely sloppy built sandwich. Love firehouse but go to any other firehouse.

Ended up ordering a second time and got sent the confirmation for both orders immediately. I understand that they can't refund but the dismissive response made me question the integrity of this company.

I have bought from Midamar many times over the years. The quality is fantastic and the prices are…read morereasonable if you buy in bulk. The shipping is super speedy and the packaging is really wonderful. I have never had a package sent that was not super cold and everything was just as if I picked it straight out of the freezer or fridge (whichever is relevant). Sometimes there was even a little something extra in the box (Off hand I can remember a whole chicken on one occasion). When I was cooking and shooting photos for a cookbook Midamar was kind of a lifesaver when a halal deli (Top Deck Deli) in Santa Clara closed down and I really needed certain products to achieve my goals. I was able to get pepperoni, salami, turkey roll (it's ham made with turkey thighs but I get why they do not refer to it as ham), and beef bacon which were all needed for the various recipes. We have also tried summer sausage, snack sticks (think slim jims and a way to give in to a major pregnancy craving the halal way), turkey bacon, sausage links (one of the few items I do not like), turkey breast, cotto salami slices, whole chicken, and chicken nuggets (not especially wonderful but my children liked them well enough). The products are so good and convincing in comparison to the traditional pork varieties that even my non-Muslim family members who do eat pork were very impressed with it. In fact my mom is planning on buying the turkey roll (ham) from them she liked it so much. I also think that the anyone looking at the photos of the foods I made with these products would never suspect it was turkey or beef products. The meat shop we visit in San Jose usually carries the products we use on occasion but I much prefer to buy from Midamar directly. As long as they are in business and their quality remains the same or better then I will continue to buy from them and recommend them to others.
