They show up stacked like they've got something to prove -- loaded, cheesy, and so generous with toppings that I started making life decisions halfway through. I forgot to take pictures and I really regret it! I met a friend at this Villa's Patio for lunch today. Sadly, the service was slow, our meals arrived with the wrong meat choice, they corrected the mistake, but the meat was watery and soaked through the tortilla shell, my quesadilla was not fried, but just a flour shell folded over on itself. The sour cream was watered down so much we could pour it out of the bowl. On both orders there was only a tablespoon of cheese and a tablespoon of guacamole. After we took two disappointing bites, we reported that the meal was terrible and the manager took it off our bill. Our meals can best be described as soggy and flavorless. Stopped here on a Tuesday for Taco Tuesday. There is a lot of seating in this location (also a Marion location), but we chose to sit at the bar. They have lots of tvs at the bar if you want to watch a game. For happy hour they had buy one get one on all drafts. We were a little disappointed there wasn't a margarita special on Taco Tuesday. Ground beef and shredded chicken tacos (hard or soft shell) are $1. Can't beat those prices. The shredded chicken was really good and I'd recommend. Bar service was great and no complaints. My fiancé and I stopped in for a quick bite. He ordered the chicken and steak burrito and I ordered chicken and steak fajitas. We also enjoyed strawberry margaritas on the rocks and blended which were delicious! The chips that come complimentary were stale but the salsa was wonderful but a little on the spicy side. My wife and I visited this Restraunt while Staying in Hiawatha for a few days. My wife not a big mexican food person had a grilled chicken quesadilla, she said it was really good. I went with the El Burro burrito. So this was their take on the California burrito, which is some of the best food I ever put in my mouth. Sorry mom!! Trifecta! Amazing food. Amazing service. Amazing margaritas! We stopped in by happinstance. It was their first day open. Staff was well trained. Food and drinks came out perfect and quickly. So welcoming and gracious. Location has been completely transformed with logos, Cool grays, Stone and agave plant murals. We had the tacos pastor, chorizo and carne, rice, beans, tamale and fries. I know. Who orders fries at a Mexican restaurant? They were a bit soggy. Barrel margaritas simply splendid. There were a lot more varieties. I had heard great things about Villa's Patio from friends so my fiancé and I decided to try it. I'm not the biggest fan of Mexican food so I decided to go with a salad. The crispy chicken salad was delicious. The vegetables in the salad were fresh and the chicken was cooked perfectly. The wait time for food was not too long. I did ask for modifications to my salad and it was not made correctly the first time. Our waitress took my food back and asked the kitchen to remake it without me asking. We also never had our waters refilled. Overall, we enjoyed our time at Villa's Patio and we think they will have great success at this location. read more

Ever see fajitas served that weren't sizzling?? Me neither, until last night. Bummer. We also had Cabo Quesadilla's. Chicken has flavor, but very light on the cheese. The Host/Manager (not sure which) greeted and sat us. No server came, so he took our orders. I had to grab a random waitress for drink refills. I had to get up and grab a ransom waitress for napkins. Villa's is definitely a favorite! We love their Chicken Grande Fajita quesadilla! It is an ample portion so I always share with my husband. Their guacamole and queso dips are awesome too! This restaurant is located where the Indian restaurant Paradise Grill used to be located. The restaurant is spacious, clean, and inviting. Really nice bar area. Service was quick and friendly. At lunch time they have a buffet for a reasonable price. I took a look but decided to order off the menu as the buffet choices were rather limited. I order a chimichanga with beef tips. Instead they delivered a chimichanga with ground beef. Not the same! I should have returned it but did not do so. The food was okay. Seems like all the Mexican restaurants in the area taste the same. We love Mexican food. We love how clean Villas is. I always compliment owners of cleanliness. Clean restrooms and tables let's me know it's a clean kitchen. The margaritas here are great. Food quality is great. Bar service not so much. I arrive, get drink right away in a plastic cup. Then it falls apart. I had to ask for menu from waitress walking past me. I order food and it arrives 25min later (cold order). Then I am scooping my ceviche with my fingers while bar tender is inattentive. I finally get his attention and at my request I get silverware. I ask for spicy salsa, which they have in house, and I get commercial bottle stuff. In addition I had to ask for chips/salsa while others got it automatically. Final issue was me watching what appeared to be friends or co-workers off duty walking up and getting "instant" total service. Leadership needs to clean up act. I felt discriminated against not being Hispanic and watching at least 10 parties get treatment I did not and were clearly Hispanic (spoke fluent Spanish to bar and appeared to be). I travel the entire country and this is not quality service. read more

The worst local experience and subpar Mexican food in the area. Our waiter was kind, but the order was wrong, we had to ask for silverware multiple times, we had to ask for drink refills, we were charged for something that was brought to us by mistake and would have been thrown away how do we not Kept it, and we were charged more for the wrong order that was originally brought to me than the cost of the actual dish I asked for. The fish tacos were not flavorful, and were dripping with liquid or not put together well. Overall the fajitas and other items we had liked flavor as well. I had always wanted to try Villa's at the location in Marion, but never got around to it. Was happy to hear they had opened a new location closer to my home. I have been to the new restaurant 3 times now. I usually go for a couple of margaritas, chips and salsa and then place a dinner order to go. My "go to" dish has mainly been Arroz Con Pollo. (That is my favorite at La Hacienda on 1st Ave. SW.) I find Villa's version to be lacking in flavor, so I usually add salsa to it when I eat it at home. My 3rd trip was the night after Cinco De Mayo and I was seated right away, ordered a margarita and was brought chips and salsa. I hadn't been there long when my server ask me if I was doing ok. I said yes and that was the last time I saw him. Another server came over when I was almost done with my margarita and I told her that I would have ordered another margarita and placed an order for dinner to go. But, it was past time for that, so I just got my check, paid it and left. The later it gets at this restaurant, the more the staff congregate and eat together, sometimes forgetting to check in with their customers. I like the atmosphere of this restaurant and again, it is closer to my home. I did go back a 4th time and the same thing happened, except, my waiter came to my table once to get my drink order. I didn't see him after that. They didn't charge me for the drink and the manager was apologetic. I'm not sure I will go back, but if I do, I will be more detailed on how I like to order. La Hacienda on 1st Ave. SW is still my favorite Mexican restaurant (the one on 42nd St. NE is horrible...extremely rude staff!) read more

Disappointing first visit, we have long enjoyed the Mation site so decided to give the CR site a try on Labor Day for lunch. We were seated promptly, given our menus noting that there were several empty tables. Complementary chips and salsa were very tasty however they 'ran out' of salsa and eventually we were given some. Green tomatillo sauce, tasty as well. The waiter was not overly friendly and never came back to check on us once our food was served by someone else. They had four servers to serve inside two rooms plus outside which did result in quite the wait for our food. My Chile relleno and tamale were lukewarm as was my husband's shrimp however they were tasty. Our friend said her fajitas were hot. I know during Covid food servers are hard to come by but if this is the issue for slow service, shut down the second room our not serve outside as I have seen other restaurants do. We had mentioned we wanted dessert but the waiter never came back. We asked for our check three times waiting over 45 minutes to cash out The next time I would order our food to go rather than dine in as I have a microwave to heat up my food as waiting two hours for service and checking out is too long for me. read more
