I live a good distance from Pita'z so I don't plan to go back because every time I turn around someone is ripping off. This time was the last time I patronize this restaurant. I not only didn't get my $1.69 Baklava, I gave the woman a $2 tip. I'm not driving 20 miles for a tiny little one inch square piece of Baklava. From now on every time a business f*cks me over I'm done with them. Amazon, Sam's Club, Walmart and Fareway have all f*cked me over at least once and done with those motherf*ckers too. I'm tired of this sh*t and I'm not going to let it happen again. You can't trust anyone these days. The thieves will steal a penny if they get half a chance. The location doesn't look like much from the outside, it's located in a strip mall and the storefront is pretty small. However, the food itself is pretty good. The pita bread is very thin and the sandwiches are huge, about the size of a Chipotle burrito and stuffed with meat. Presentation of the food could be a lot better, everything comes in separate plastic takeaway containers. Ordered a salad with meat on it which literally came in separate boxes for the leaves, the dressing, and the meat, which doesn't really make sense. Fresh and quick Mediterranean food. The large Greek salads are huge, enough for 2-3 to share. Lots of feta cheese on top and they definitely don't skimp with the rest of the toppings. I ordered mine with Gyro meat which was packaged up separately to stay fresh. It's a mostly carry out place but they do have some tables to dine in. I also tried the falafel. The falafel came with a side of tahini sauce and pickled beets. Very tasty. I'll definitely be coming back here again to try some of their other Mediterranean dishes. read more

Absolutely love eating here! My father introduced my husband and I to this place when we visited. My father doesn't eat out much so I knew this place was good. I ate there one day and then came back the next day and brought a friend. The food is delicious! Their gyro meat is so good! I love their Mediterranean salad, the Philly chicken pita, gyro burger, and fries. Yes I tasted all that in 2 days. Lol! Can't wait to go back and try more of their menu! The food was made to order fresh, so it does take a little longer which they do highlight upon coming in. I really loved the flavor of the gyro combo that I got and I felt that there was some extra flavor that I don't always get with many gyros. This place is insanely good. Take your time and order in accordance with what you know. If you don't know what something is look it up. I was in town for a baseball tournament and wanted to go back on Sunday but alas they are closed on Sundays. I have carefully placed my leftovers in my cooler for lunch tomorrow. The Gyro meat had a really nice Smokey finish to it, the Baba Ghanoush was awesome (my son thought it was hummus, it was not) the Kafta I had was incredible. Located in the CR burb of Hiawatha with a prime location next to many sprawling businesses. Think fast cas in a strip mall, but in a positive, everything is new way. I ordered the gyro pita combo with a med salad. The salad came up first in a timely fashion. Order dressing on the side, as mine was drenched. Minus one point. The gyro had the short chunks of meat that I've seen at a few other places. It's not a schwarma style shaved meat. The gyro was a very elastic, almost burrito tortilla like shell. You may find yourself dining here if you're in the area and have a hankering for Mediterranean and Middle-East based cuisine, like myself. But I might hold onto my money, here's why. This is hypothetical, but I have a strong feeling a lot of the "positive" reviews on this place are from local Mid-Westerners who wouldnt know the difference between a lamb and beef gyro. Let alone what shawarma is and how it's prepared. This is not a slam, but important to understand prior to eating here if you're going to base your decision off the reviews alone. I'm lucky, I've been fortunate enough to do a fair amount of travelling. And through my travels from coast to coast, I always try to fit in the tastes of the Med and Mid-East. The spices, the freshness, the tenderness of various protein based dishes, so good! I'm no food expert, but after eating various types of dishes from this region, prepared by families and immigrants from that region, you begin to develop a rudimentary understanding of how glory unfolds in your mouth after each bite. So after eating at this location more than 10 times through the past 4 years, my conclusion is this: If you want an over-priced and poor excuse of a Mediterranean meal while in the CR area, look no further. In my experience, side dishes are always a little stale (in fact the pita chips they gave me for one order, had developed mold on them a day later) The falafel, unbelievably dry everytime. Their gyros, an oily mess of essentially a 1:2 bread to meat ratio, a very lil lil amount of garnishes and sauce (taziki) to balance the bread/meat gut bomb they serve up. My main gripe with this place is it consistently lacks the quality of ingredients, freshness, and preparation of what I find most appealing in Mediterranean cuisine. Worse is it's being hailed by people without a sense of scale to properly rate this poor excuse of Mediterranean and Middle east restaurant. So do I still eat here? Occasionally. Mostly when I drink. And for me that's this place in a nutshell: Good if you have dull taste buds. A bummer if you have an appreciation and a prior experience tasting the flavors of REAL Med-based cuisine. Food aside. They are a quick lunch and have amazing full flavor.Today i stopped in after buying groceries over Lunch. I wanted to get good Pita chips for a dip i was making. I had mentioned i never tried Gyro Meat and said i would go with a small chicken greek salad anyway. Wow. This place was a gem. We had stopped for gas and decided to find something to eat. I found this on Yelp and it was right around the corner. The food was fantastic. Great portions. Fresh. Great flavors. I had the greek salad with added gyro meat. Very generous with the gyro meat. What an awesome salad. My mother had the gyro and a side of tabbouleh. Wow. I say that because they make absolutely awesome gyros (with lamb that isn't at all dry / stringy and the perfect ratio of meat to other fillings), but then they have odd menu items like philly cheesesteak, which I can only assume are attempts to appease less adventurous eaters. My wife and I go here as often as we can. Consider it super accessible Mediterranean food. The people are happy to explain anything on the menu that isn't familiar, and there are plenty of options if someone in your group isn't into falafel (though they really ought to try). The shop uses technology in an interesting way, allowing you to order ahead with an app called MobileBytes. The app includes the entire menu and you can pay ahead and pick it up when you arrive. Not that food takes long to get to you, anyway, but they can be busy around lunchtime. I've never ordered anything I didn't care for. Can you get better falafel at Oasis? Sure, but this is Hiawatha and it's not bad at all. I have the sense some of the options are perhaps less authentic (remember I said it's accessible?) but I'm hardly a connoisseur so it's hard for me to say. I highly recommend getting the pita chips and either hummus or baba ganoush. They're super tasty and if you dine in they bring them to the table right away. Portions are fantastic. Not sure how many hundreds of fat grams and calories just entered my body, but I just could not tear myself away from eating every single fried pita chip and every last scoop of the homemade hummus that constituted my "side" of hummus. I am totally full and satisfied from the perfectly crunchy and salty chips dunked in the smooth, well seasoned hummus. My huge "small" gyro sits in front of me still wrapped in its foil. Lunch tomorrow. Pita'z runs a smooth business and has successfully figured out how to take orders, deliver food, and handle long lunch lines. Overflow seating is available at the adjacent coffee shop, but many people are taking their food to go. Lots of veggie options will make your mixed lunch buddy group happy. Exceptional. The hummus is a religious experience. The chips made from the pita are delightful. It is seasoned perfectly. The gyros is served wonderfully. The tzasiki is delicious, the meat has a nice char to it. The pita is very light and very tasty. The beef Schwarma is excellent. The sauce is complimentary but light, the bread comes out toasty, and the portion is sizable. The beef is tender without being chewy. The veggies it comes with are very tasty as well. Finally, the grape leaves are beyond description. They may be the best I have ever had. We travel a lot, and are always looking for little places like this. Finally got a chance to order Pita'z online today. It's been too long! They were close to on time (it was really busy). The Chicken Gyro soaked through the bags though, so that made for a mess. Hoping they wrap it up better next time around. But that Chicken Gyro is still a boss for the wife. I ordered a Philly Cheesesteak Pita. It was pretty good. Grew on me with every bite. Wasn't a complete fan of the steak used in it, but it was still pretty good. They are also generous with their side portions of the hummus and salads. Updated review - I still love Pita'z food (especially the hummus and gyros), but I am very disappointed with the service. I feel like the restaurants interior quality continues to go down (feels dirty and not well kept). The employees are also lacking in customer service - they are too busy in their own conversations to assist waiting customers. Tonight I was also disappointed that my side of hummus did not come with pita chips as it always does as I "did not request pita chips when ordering." Grabbed some food on a bike ride and took it home. Wasn't expecting anything great, and it met expectations. I had been HOPING for better. The food is just low in flavor. The Tzatziki lacked garlic (and therefore had zero punch). The hummus, too - vague and flavorless. The pita is probably from a bag. Even the gyros meat (I got a gyros combo with hummus, pita and cucs on the side) wasn't that flavorful. Maybe a little undercooked, instead of crispy and delectable. One of the other reviews said it best here - I think most of the good reviews are from folks who have no idea what Mediterranean food is actually like, and are afraid of spices. This is one of my favorite places. The best Greek salad in town and get the chicken added if your not vegetarian. It is all delicious. And do not forget the baklava, it is out of this world. I ordered the entree of 5 falafel, with a side of mediterranean salad, came with white pitas and rice. I also ordered a large tub of hummus, which comes with your choice of pita chips, pitas, or cucumber and celery, thought the veggies was a nice choice, so I picked those. Everything is made to order, so everything was fresh. Falafel was good, not great, seemed a little tougher on the outside like it was a bit overcooked...the Mediterranean salad was iceberg lettuce with onions and tomatoes covered in an oil-based dressing, again good, but not great. Just had a fresh and super flavorful lunch here after not being back for far too long! The authentic tastes definitely shine through. Loved how soft and aromatic the falafel was - one of the best I've had! The salads were well dressed, which we enjoyed. I'm normally not a gyro meat fan but my boyfriend loves it so I tried a few pieces, loved that it's thick slices with caramelized edges. I'd go again. I had the gyro which was good. It took a bit longer than I expected so I'll be sure to allow more time next time. We were on our way to a movie and had expected this to be more of a quick bite but it wasn't quite that. There were several items on the menu that I'd want to try.
