We've been sleeping on this restaurant! I have had it a few times over the years, and it's always been a decent experience. This week we decided to order dinner through Grub Hub, and we were seriously impressed with how the menu has evolved! We are vegetarians, and there were so many veg options that it was challenging to narrow down the order! We ordered 3 dishes to share, and the food was on point. We will definitely be frequenting this restaurant more often in the future. Thank you for such a yummy and healthy dinner!!

Samosa & Classic Hummus with pita bread - The image shows a wooden table with a white plate holding three fried samosas and a small cup of yogurt. Behind, there is a rectangular dish with hummus topped with a small amount of jam and surrounded by pita bread pieces. The background includes chairs and a wall, indicating a restaurant setting.

We liked the samosas the best out of all the dishes we had. My wife's gyro wrap was very greasy. The falafel was okay. Meh.

I've been tossing around the idea of moving back to Iowa, but the only way I'd ever do it is if I can move to an area that has a good falafel spot. The Olive Tree definitely delivers. This falafel bowl was loaded with leafy greens, rice, salad, hummus, and baba ganoush. There were even some olives in there too. The falafel was crisp on the outside but nice and soft on the inside. This is an incredible meal (vegan without feta) that will only cost you about $8.50 before tax. The menu is massive, and you're sure to find something you like whether you're well versed or new to Mediterranean cuisine. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They will answer any questions you may have and recommend good dishes based on your preferences. The lighting is pretty dim though and its kind of hard to see the food. Thats really the only negative thing I can say. This place is awesome

Locally owned. - The image depicts the storefront of Olive Tree Cafe, with a sign displaying its name above the entrance. Snow is falling, covering the sidewalk and partially obscuring the view through the large front windows. There are parked cars in front of the cafe, and outdoor seating with umbrellas is visible. The scene suggests a winter day with ongoing snowfall.

A taste of the Mediterranean in Eastern Iowa. Freshly prepared food. Vegetarian options, along with Chicken and Gyro meat. Great place to take your family or friends. Dine in and take out. Catering menu as well.

Mid panini's (sandwich) + Sysco fries were cold. Chill vibes + nice people though. 3/10 food, 8/10 vibes.

Seriously gone down hill. Poor service and food not fresh. Seems to be made from old ingredients. Soda machine rarely works.

Our waitress came over in good time and took a drink order which showed up in very good time. I also asked a menu question which she got the answer to right away. As another reviewer stated it is *cold* in there! I keep a sweater in my bag for this purpose but still, I was cold. 86 outside, 66 inside (at a guess of course). They may keep the air cold to cool down that hot open kitchen. Bring a jacket or sweater. Our food came out in good time. Portions were generous. Plenty of cheese on my burger. I can understand how another reviewer mentioned the food is salty. The burger is mixed w/a GC spice blend that does seem heavy on the salt. At first it was fine, but I couldn't finish my burger. After a while the taste just stuck in my throat and was too much. May want to pull back a bit on the amount of spice blend being added. The crinkle fries were really good. Nice and crispy. My dining comlanion got the buffalo chicken wrap. Plenty of meat, spicy sauce and veg in this wrap. Trouble is the wrap barely holds the filling in and as the sauce makes the wrap wet, it inevitably fell apart. It is very tasty though, and he happily ate it with a knife and fork. Maybe a bigger wrap is available? 'Cause that portion size is excellent. Staff do seem to congregate in the kitchen area with the expediter. As the dining room got busier, we naturally saw less of our waitress but she did check in a few times and was sure to keep the water glass full and offer drink refills. The ladies room really needs a visual make over and deep clean. It does have a bit of a swampy smell. A machine by the sink, that I believe is a dehumidifier, had a light on it blinking "empty". So the tank was full of water? If it had been running, that may have helped with the smell but I don't know. It wasn't offensive, just a humid bathroom smell. The beer is good, as one would hope from a brewery. They have a selection from Irish Red to pilsners. The menu says to ask about sours. The interior is comfortable, casual with a mix of booths and tables. A couple of the booth seats are in serious disrepair (torn/split material exposing the foam cushion) and need to be fixed. A bar with high top tables is on the other side of the hostess stand keeping the areas seperate. A glass wall seperates you from both the brewing tanks on one wall and the kitchen on another wall. Restrooms by kitchen. Plenty of parking in their private lot. Those entry doors (two sets) are *heavy!

I almost always get grilled salmon, so I know how good it used to be. This time made us cross the place off of our eating out list. The pretzels we got as an app tasted burnt. The salmon was dry and tasted of salt. Even the asparagus... you guessed it-salt. Seriously, I could eaten a plate full of salt at home for way less than $22

It looks like a typical sports bar/restaurant. What sets it apart is the quality of the food. With our most recent visit, we went at an off-peak time between lunch and dinner. The place was relatively empty. Service was timely. For an appetizer, we had fried pickles. These looked like they were cut, battered, and fried in-house and were good. For my entree, I had the Zombie Invasion Burger. They advertise it as possibly the best burger on the planet. I don't know if I would endorse it being the best on the planet, but it's definitely one of the better burgers I have had. It's a gourmet-type burger, pairing sweet with some zing. The fries were standouts as well. They weren't particularly fancy, but they were well seasoned (just salt and pepper) and based on the quality, I am guessing they were cut in-house and fried to order. My wife had a Mediterranean salad, which she liked. I did not try any of it, but I have had a salad there before (Plantation Salad) and thought it was pretty darned good. For dessert, I had the cheesecake. This was good. It wasn't necessarily great, but I left happy. Overall, the food here is really good and the prices are appropriate.

It's large enough for 3 people to share, as there were 2 of us and we had some left over to take home. Brian Olsen has pizza on lock! He is a master at his craft. These pizzas have an amazing flavor, terrific crust and quality ingredients. They serve burgers and a chicken sandwiche, too! We ordered 3 different pizzas... one with garlic cream sauce and green peppers, one with pepperoni, sausage & red peppers and another specialty pizza with the hot honey & arugula with pepperoni and Calabrian chili's. Man, that was some good Za!! Claire was our server and she was terrific, too! Clearing dirty plates, refreshing silverware and beverages. Terrific attitude! All in all, Bettendorf has an amazing pizza restaurant that the locals should be grateful for in their own neighborhood! And, Smash serves beer, wine, and cocktails, too. I wish I lived closer. I'd become a regular and dine in often! Whenever I'm back in town, I'll be sure to stop by to try some different specialty pies, like the elote pie. That one sounded really good! So did the za with wild mushroom & kale!! Maybe one day Smash will create a taco pizza to compete with Happy Joe's, rip Joe Whitey. But, seriously, there is no comparison between the two.
