I have loved this Taco John's location since it opened, but the last year or so every time we go to this location the meat is ice cold in our tacos by the time I get home and I only live 3 blocks frome the 23rd and Broadway location in Council Bluffs. Very disappointing read more

I rarely post reviews but definitely needed to post this. I ordered online earlier today from the Taco John's on W Broadway in Council Bluffs, Iowa and it was the BEST food I have had from any Taco John's location in years! It was delicious. The potato ole's had the exact right amount of spice. The meat filling was fresh, spicy, hot and just plain perfect! Unfortunately, I have been disappointed in Taco Johns the past few years despite it being one of my fave places growing up. I have noticed a lack of the seasoning that make up the potato oles special taste and a lack of overall quality. Today was so great that I am making this my go to Taco John's despite living and working In Omaha.It was seriously delicious in every way! THe person working at the drive thru was also very friendly.Thank you! read more

My husband and I are semi regulars here and every time we visit, the restaurant is always clean. They bring our food right out to us fresh and the owner is such nice man who always has a smile on his face when he greets us! read more

3 stars for "fast food rating" which I consider different from my 3 star ratings on other non-chain places^1** Despite the less than flattering middle finger pictures of the drive thru staff posted here, I found the staff at this location of Taco Johns to be really nice and friendly, and respectful and helpful. In fact, many of the fast food chains off Broadway have high school or college aged kids that seem to give very good customer service. The food was, well, fast food, but I thought that the service deserved some recognition. (**^1 note: since comparing fast food to other businesses and restaurants on yelp seems silly to compare or even review I usually will review fast food based on customer service and staff. Fast food is fast food. It's pretty hard to screw that up. But good customer service is what will make me want to return to that location. I only review for exceptional cases ) read more

If I could give 0 I would!! Order taco, and Taco Bravo extra meat on both, Med Pepsi. To go. Taco partially wrapped soaked in sauce outside and inside no lettuce, Taco Bravo, no beans, or lettuce, a few crumbles of meat. Took back asked for manager, a middle eastern man came to counter showed him food soaked in sauce no meat I paid $10.00 for this!!! He shouted that's the way it is. He threw my money across the counter! NEVER WILL I GO BACK TO WEST BDWY TACO JOHNS!!! I have been going there since Craig opened it in the early 70's. A great little local taco chain. It has been around for close to 50 years, they must be doing something right. My family shared a bunch of items: Steak nachos, taste was fine, but the cheese could have been hotter The taco trio plate with all three types, everybody enjoyed these The double decker style taco, this was okay, but nothing special Tater tots, a favorite everywhere It was nice to try a local chain, we were rushing to the airport or else we would not have had this fast food opportunity, because there are so many great full service restaurants. read more

This location is one of our go to fast food spots for a quick bite on a busy weeknight or a quick breakfast on a busy morning drive. The service is always quick and orders are always accurate. All of the employees at the drive through window have always been pleasant and talkative which is great and not the case at most fast food joints. read more

Awful. Ordered lunch for our office crew - potato ole grande, a meat & potato burrito and a taco bravo. Asked the beans be left off the taco bravo for the person it was ordered for - the meat in the bravo was nothing but refried beans, so the person couldn't eat it. The meat & potato burrito? As everyone was in the breakroom, when the burrito was unrolled so the person could add some salt to it? Literally four potato oles and absolutely no meat. Plenty of lettuce and tomato but that was it. So ended up having to divide the potato oles grande among four people so everyone could have something to eat. Have ordered Taco John's for the crew before but after this meal? Never again. When the crew's replacing meat with beans and there's beans on a meat & potato burrito? We came here as alternative to Taco Bell since we've never been to a Taco John's before, so I'm comparing apples to apples. This place is just okay. Taco Bell is magnitudes better. Because of the mask policy and the plastic panel between the customer and cashier, every single--and I do mean every single--thing I said had to be repeated at least twice but mostly three times. Couple that with a menu that is oddly configured (resulting in me ordering something I didn't mean to order) and our food order was unexpectedly expensive and was just mediocre. The lady who was apparently a manager did a good job in helping the cashier who was obviously new and at least got the order done amidst all the "huh?", "what?" and "I can't understand you?" The taco sauce only comes in mild and is just slightly different than ketchup. Not good at all. As we were sitting there, an employee comes out to start cleaning off a table and she's on the phone wearing her earbuds. She's speaking loudly about an impending divorce, giving someone an enema because they were constipated, and dropping the F bomb here and there. Again...speaking loudly as if the place was empty. Was in Council Bluffs recently and had to stop at Taco Johns. It was delicious for a fast food restaurant. It tastes the same as I remember years ago when I went to the high school close by. Love the Taco Bravo and the Potato Ole's. This restaurant is very clean and the service was excellent. Highly recommend. read more

While visiting Omaha, I decided to try this mid-west taco chain. I pulled into the drive thru and was not surprised to see a menu unlike most fast food Mexican joints. The pictures of the food were not appealing--especially the burritos, which looked similar to Taco Bell burritos. I guess if you like Taco Bell burritos, you may like these, but I wasn't going to take the chance. I must not have been adventurous that day, so I ordered one beef taco. The taco filling seemed like it was some sort of meat in a heavy gravy with some taco seasoning--almost like a somewhat spicy sloppy joe in a preformed corn tortilla-like shell. The taco was not one of my favorite tastes and it is highly unlikely I will ever go to this place again. read more

I have been going to this Taco John's since I was a kid. Just recently, they started putting more beef in their burritos and it seems that overall their food is better than I can ever remember! They need to continue putting a lot of meat in their burritos to make it worth the price, as Taco John's is not cheap for fast food. A few burritos, potato olés, and a taco can cost you $20. Restaurant was clean. Staff was friendly. Food was delicious. Bathroom were not dirty, but definitely needed updating. Parking...sucked. If we are back in Council Bluffs I would go back without a doubt, but during peak times parking would suck. read more

Just waited 15 min for our food in the Taco johns drive thru and got home to find out we didn't even get all of our food. Drove back and went inside and talked to some Cameron guy with a mohawk and told him what had happened and he proceeded to tell us he's not the only "food maker." 1st of all Cameron I think your job title is called a cook. And 2nd of all we never directed our complaints towards him or anyone particularly we just wanted a solution. Terrible customer service. Not to mention taco johns is way over priced and not even good to begin with. And to top it all off never got mild sauce. read more

I stop through Council Bluffs on occasion as I'm travelling to see family and friends. I usually stop at this location as it's always clean and courteous. After chatting with an employee, I found out that the franchise owners actually work at the restaurant too, which I don't think is very common. And don't leave without a Churro! read more
