    Three delicious tacos

Close to if not the best tacos I've ever had. Wonderful service with prompt seating and a very attentive waiter. Cool vibe inside, dimly lit but not too dark. The OG margarita was very tasty, albeit a bit pricey. Warm chips and two kinds of salsa were complementary. We will be back next time we're in Evanston.

Cool looking Mexican place with pretty good drinks and food. It's not authentic but it's not trying to be so have the correct expectations for it. Taco Diablo is one of the places in Evanston good for a fun atmosphere with loud music and people. At lunch it's a lot quieter but also cheaper. You can also actually then get a good seat. At lunch we came for the specials to save a few bucks. It's a better time if wanting to explore the menu. The later times are busier and the service can get slow. Of course margaritas. There's a lot of good ones. It's about $12 each. There's other cocktails as well, including Mezcal. Good smokey liquor. The best is the An Acquired Proclivity, which is Campari with Del Maguay and Fidencio Mezcals. As for the food we got the Lunch Special of course. It's about $12 to get a salad and 2 tacos. These have a protein choice, and we got the Impossible vegan meat in these. Small but good. These were spicy with the guajillo and tomato chili avocado salsa. Rest of the menu has other classics. There's barbacoa if wanting to get meaty. Good place for not quite authentic Mexican food. It shares a space with Five & Dime, among others. The cocktails and margaritas are strong, and there's options for meat eaters, as well as vegans and vegetarians.

Both times I've come to Taco Diablo we've sat on the Blue Horse side. On this side the vibe awesome - a nice place to chill with your group... low lighting, booths and tables for larger groups - or spacious if you have a smaller party. Cocktails have fun names - you'll want to try one for sure. I thought the Yes Please was fantastic. As for food... the chips and guacamole are delicious. Chips and salsa cone right out when customers are seated. Add the guac! Chips will also be replenished if you ask. The tacos are okay. Not as amazing as I've hav elsewhere. I ordered the taco trio and didn't finish them all. The crispy fish was my fave. The chicken tinga was my least fave. The rice tasted too salty on last night's visit. I didn't eat it. Our waitstaff provided friendly service throughout our visit. No complaints ! :) All on all it's a nice place to hang out so I rounded up to a four-star. I might go for something other than tacos next time.

Stopped in to get some tacos to go. So welcomed that I sat at the bar, had a drink and stayed for lunch. The bartender was very helpful and recommended a lunch special. Two tacos and a beautiful salad 12.99. Includes chips and two salsas. Those chips alone are delicious! A red and a green chili salsa- yum! Then the salad came- beautifully food! So many good, fresh things in the salad: Carrots, black beans, cukes, all good. Then the most amazing tacos came! Fresh, warm ho-made corn tortillas with fresh greens. Not loaded with beans and cheese. Just fresh ingredients! I can't wait to come back and try more things on the menu.

Pretty cool concept spot! The service was amazing and the drinks were delicious. When seated, you get to order from lula's, five & dime, as well as taco Diablo. I opted for tacos and they were delicious! Not the most authentic of course but they were pretty good. The side of beans and rice wasn't my favorite but overall great pick! The others ordered from lula's and the poke bowl was huge and the fish was fresh. The bar was sooooo cute and it's a perfect place to hang with friends. Will definitely be back for a drink!

The tacos barely had any meat. For the price, I expected way more filling. Disappointing.

The food is terrific and the combined menus: Mex, Asian, American make this a real gem. It's a great bar too.

At no time did anyone acknowledge someone was celebrating a birthday. My wife ordered the Salmon dish which comes with a bacon based sauce. She doesn't eat bacon and asked if they could use a different sauce. She was told No. So she had it plain, she said it was well cooked. The broccoli and potatoes on the other hand were overly salted, the potatoes were undercooked and cold, the broccoli was also cold. Normally my wife would have sent the food back, however, since she was with friends she didn't do so because she didn't want to ruin the mood of their celebration. Surprisingly, unlike most restaurants, the Evanston Corner Bistro doesn't celebrate birthdays, they don't even have a candle to put on a dessert. My wife decided she was going to celebrate with dessert anyway, so she ordered the NY Cheesecake with Strawberry sauce. It came out with something more like Strawberry Jam. My wife liked the idea of having the jam better than sauce. The problem was it turned out to be RASPBERRY jam NOT strawberry. Luckily my wife isn't ALLERGIC to Raspberries. She said the cheesecake was delicious. She did say it seemed to take forever for dessert to come out from the kitchen. Then there was a service charge added to the bill, but NO WHERE in the restaurant or on the menu is this mentioned. My wife also commented that there was only ONE server, and as more people arrived the service became slower. It seemed that the one server was just overwhelmed and didn't smile. In summary, and IMHO this isn't a restaurant for celebrating birthdays! Based on this experience my wife said she wouldn't go back unless she was going with a group of people who decided to go there. My wife said it's a shame Evanston Corner Bistro was one of her favorite places.

The space is beautiful and definitely has the same polished aesthetic, but unfortunately the food didn't live up to the look. They offered a bottomless option, though I was told they were down to one bottle because of St. Patrick's Day and a wedding. That wasn't a huge deal to me, especially since the restaurant wasn't very busy and the overall vibe still felt promising. The real issue was the food. I ordered the wild mushroom scramble, which I've had and enjoyed at other locations, but this one came out visibly burnt. The eggs had those brown, overcooked bits throughout and tasted bitter, which is not exactly the brunch mood I was going for. The chicken sausage didn't help much either. To their credit, they did recook the meal to make it right, and I appreciated that. The staff was pleasant and handled it well. Still, it was disappointing to have burnt eggs come out in the first place, especially when the restaurant wasn't busy. Eggs should not be the plot twist. I really wanted this location to become a neighborhood favorite, but based on this visit, I'm not sure I'd come back.

The Oysters were amazing, the cocktail sauce was perfect with horse radish. I forgot how good oysters are. I ordered a bowl of the lobster bisque and the lobster ravioli. Wife had the walleye. The bisque was excellent. tomatoey and rich. The ravioli portion was large but the edges of the pasta were tough. The center was super, but the edges all tough to chew. The walleye portion was also large with mashed potatoes and lots of spinach. We had the key lime pie which was okay. Also had the Negroni which was amazing. We'll definite be back. It's spacious and a super cool venue, which was used for my daughter's high school fundraiser last weekend. I visited Double Clutch twice within one week. The first was a meeting held at the venue right before the event where everyone got to enjoy some beer (except those of us who don't love beer and opted for water) and some of the food that would be served at the event the following weekend. I munched on some turnbuckle pretzels, fried buffalo bites and cauli wings- all were pretty good! A few days later we sold out with a 300 person event, although honestly we could have fit way more in the space because there was plenty of room to move around. The band Go Ask Your Mum was playing lots of fun 80s and 90s hits, there was a buffet of the food we had tried a few days beforehand and the bar was busy. I opted for wine, which was good. The acoustics here aren't great, which i noticed during the meeting and during the event. The band was fun to listen to, but i could hardly hear anyone i was speaking to. But that's really my only complaint since it's a great space!
