The food was delicious, the service was exceptional, and the ambiance was exactly what I was looking for. If I could, I'd start every morning here. Unfortunately, this visit was a huge disappointment. We arrived about an hour before closing and sat down as we normally do. While I was walking to the restroom, which is located past the kitchen area, I heard a server/bartender we've seen several times before ask the cook, in an obviously annoyed tone, if two people had just arrived. When he said yes, she responded, "Who the fuck!?" The cook then looked directly at me. At that point, I honestly felt extremely uncomfortable and wanted to leave. We decided to stay since my boyfriend had already ordered a beer, but the experience immediately felt different. We felt like our presence was an inconvenience simply because we came in an hour before closing. Unfortunately, the food didn't make up for it. We ordered the beef skewers and a burger. The skewers were okay, but they were not nearly as good as we remembered them being. The burger, however, arrived completely cold. What makes this especially disappointing is that we used to really enjoy coming here. We understand that being close to closing time can be frustrating for a restaurant, but customers should still feel welcomed, especially when they are coming in well before closing and have supported the restaurant in the past. We really hope this was just a bad night, because we genuinely used to love coming here. But after this experience, we unfortunately left feeling very disappointed.

Both were full of flavor and aesthetically colorful and bright. Would love to come back and try other dishes as I love their Santa Fe inspired dishes.

She gave us her name but I forgot because I honestly just wanted to leave, my friend however insisted we stay as we both love the food. Arrived at 11PM yesterday we know the kitchen closes at midnight. So we thought we have an hour for a couple of drinks and a meal. We go downstairs. 2 bartenders behind the bar. They see us, make eye contact and neither one acknowledges us. Fine, we didn't want to stay anyway, music was loud and we wanted to chat. We go upstairs and no one behind the bar. No one greeted us (late, it's ok we understand) we waited for a good 3 minutes until the buser asks us if we have been helped. We said we want to be seated. Only to find out the bartender was in front of the bar talking to 2 other guys . Saw us, thought may be if she didn't acknowledge us we'd go. The buser says "ask that girl" so we do. She said the bar downstairs is open. We told her we came from there and it's too loud. Are you open and can we be seated here, she Goes behind the bar, starts making a drink, we're now 6-7 minutes in standing with no resolution. My friend goes and asks the bar tender again can we be seated and she says ( and I'm paraphrasing because I was fuming I forgot the exact words but something along the lines of "I'll help you when I'm done with this, or when I'm available") I simply just wanted to leave. Friend insisted we stay and clear it with her. She seats us and 2 minutes later comes and introduces herself as if nothing happened. My friend says we wanna make sure kitchen is open. She confirms. Then my friend says "we started off bad here and the way you responded earlier that "your help us when you're available" is not a way to welcome a patron, as we both worked in the industry and still have friends in the industry. Her response in a condescending way was "I'll do better" my friend said no, there we go again, it's not genuine and we just want to make sure we are good "I'm sorry I'll do better" she responds so we simply told her we give up, let's just order our drinks. When she comes back to take food order she can barely speak, she said her mouth was dry or something, and she had the hiccups ... that's when we knew she must have been drinking and we interrupted her little chat with friends at the bar. Once again. The food was amazing. The gusset was very friendly, the bartender who waited our table was unprofessional, rude, and condescending and I don't want her fired but she certainly needs a reality check! That this is not the way to speak with guests. We didn't ask for a manager simply because we didn't want to waste time and wanted to get a drink, eat and be on our merry way. We'll still come back, and enjoy coming to Richardsons and Rokerij

Even with that going on, she welcomed us and we ordered a couple of burritos while taking not of all of the fresh pastries and other goodness. We ordered one beef and green chile and a Sausage breakfast burrito. They make their own sausage for these from a recipe that has been in the family for over 100 years, and I highly recommend it. Both were exceptional and they are huge and do not skimp on the meat. After those we could not pass up grabbing some of the Maple Peach bread pudding and an Apple Danish. The Apple Danish was outstanding, cannot speak to the bread pudding as that disappeared before I was able to try it. This can be difficult since Thai food is usually served over rice or noodles, and with Mexican food, I have a hard time staring at a hot pile of refried beans without digging in. The ala carte Chile Relleno that I ordered from Los Dos Molinos with spicy pork fit the bill exactly. They use eggs without flour for their relleno drench, which along with the green chile sauce on top fit my dietary needs exactly The meal was spicy enough to make me break a sweat, but still highlighted the taste of the Hatch chile, roast pork and green sauce without over use of salt It was fantastic! I always hate to write bad reviews, especially for family owned businesses, but today is a sad day…read more When I write this review it is based on my parties reaction to the food and not everybody has the same taste or likes so I do recommend you try it yourself because you may like what they serve. I ordered the red chilaquiles and it was served with the blue chips, now normally authentic chilaquiles are made with corn tortillas that are fried specifically for that dish, but some people use regular premade chips. The chilaquiles had beans mixed in with it, which I didn't really care for and not a lot of red sauce. My friend ordered the chicken posole which she didn't like at all and she also ordered the red chilaquiles and did not like them. My wife ordered a red tamale and she also didn't care for it. So basically none of us cared for any of the food and we were pretty excited about going there because we had gone to the south location many years ago and really liked it. The service was very good and the prices were not too bad either. So like I said earlier, it's still worth a try because you may like the type of food that they serve so I still recommend trying the place but for us when a party of three orders different things and nobody likes anything. It's pretty much a one and done for us. Which is sad to say because I really love to support family owned businesses..

Upon her return, she seemed irritated to tell me that the frozen machine was broken so I couldn't have a Paloma. I asked why that wasn't stated before and also asked to have a regular Paloma. She said, " I don't know if I can even do that." She disappeared for a while and then set the drink down, without a word. At this point about 15 minutes had gone by and we finally got chips and salsa. The rest of the time we sat at the bar she talked to and greeted everyone around us but we were avoided. We had to flag her down to order and also to get anything we needed. The ONLY reason I am not docking them more is the fact that the food was good and I've been here before for a baby shower. Customer service was nice and friendly, and the restaurant itself is beautiful and very unique inside it really stands out. They have an extensive drink menu and some interesting food options, including items like bone marrow. The pricing is on the higher end, more like a special occasion or upscale restaurant. They do offer the option of corn or flour tortillas, but it wasn't clearly mentioned that the flour tortillas cost an extra $1.50, and they are very small. I didn't even need tortillas, and I still ended up being charged for flour when I didn't choose that option, which was frustrating. Another issue was the timing of the food. We were a group of five, and our meals came out at different times instead of all together, which made it hard to enjoy the meal as a group. Also, they don't offer complimentary chips and salsa at the beginning like most Mexican restaurants. You do have the option to order them as an appetizer, but it's something to be aware of if you're expecting that standard. As for the food, the flavor was just okay. It wasn't bad, but it didn't really stand out compared to other Mexican restaurants. One more thing to be aware of is how the bill is set up. They include a 20% gratuity for larger parties, which is fine, but then taxes are applied after that total. So you end up paying tax on both the food and the gratuity, which makes the final bill feel much higher. That didn't sit right with me. Overall, this place feels more about the experience and atmosphere than the taste of the food. There are plenty of other spots with better flavor and more affordable prices for a regular visit, so this feels more like a once-in-a-while or special occasion kind of place.
