Taco Bell is across the street from Woodgrove Shopping Center coupled with a KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken). A lot of people have negative things to say about Taco Bell, but not me personally, love the place. Unfortunately it's up at the northern end of Nanaimo, and I end up entering Nanaimo at the south end (takes about 30-45 mins to get there from where I live), so obviously I don't make a lot of trips up this way unless I've got some shopping to do at Woodgrove (which is pretty much the only place where you can get most of what you want/need). The $9 boxed meal is a pretty good value, you get a medium drink with 3 items and a churro (think Mexican donut) for dessert. Usually one of the items is fries supreme, but I remember getting nachos once and that wasn't half bad either. The other 2 items seem to change at least once every month (I don't know how frequently, I never went there more than once in a month). One month it was the Doritos Locos taco and a hard shell taco. Then the next month it was the Gordita Crunch and a Taco Supreme. Most recenlty it was a dual-layer taco, which is a supreme taco with a layer of cheese and another taco wrapped around it, with a taco supreme. They also have really good value on soft tacos, you can order soft tacos for something like $1 a piece. I'm not a fan of the hard shell tacos, and neither was one of my friends who went there with me one time. My other two friends who go there with me on our sometimes monthly taco bell trips usually also order the $9 box meal and they pretty much affirmatively agree that the hard shell tacos aren't as enjoyable (mostly because they fall apart!). If you ever feel like tacos, and you don't feel like cooking them yourself, taco bell is a fairly solid choice. Of course if you DO feel like cooking tacos yourself, you can probably make a nice batch of tacos that would blow taco bell out of the water for roughly the same price! But then you have dishes to deal with. If I feel like doing something crazy I'll make my own, but for $10 or less, you can't go wrong with taco bell. read more

this place has been bad for quite sometime...customer service is poor...there has been countless of times where KFC chicken hasn't been cooked through properly and they have screwed up on taco bell orders...VERY SLOW...sucks though cause it's the only KFC/Taco Bell in town read more

My partner and I went through the drive thru for the first time tonight. It was EXTREMELY slow; but not only that, we had to repeat our order many times and we couldn't understand the employee on the other side. He had an extremely thick Indian accent and the speaker itself was quiet. We had to pull up to the window to order and we waited about 25 mins for a taco, Crunchwrap, and two drinks. Not sure what is going on in this place, but we definitely won't be going back.. If you want to wait close to 40 minutes to get something to eat, go elsewhere.. this place is a joke. The absolute worst experience at any restaurant anywhere. Person at the til could barely speak a little English and it seemed that she was only repeating what she had been told to say. The menu is useless unless you frequent there very often, as they do not show a proper picture of the item, and they can't explain what comes in each item. Then it takes at least 20-30 minutes to get your order, but is it? Nope. ordered 3 basic meals with some minor changes. Not one order was done correct and some of each meal was missing. None of the paper wrapped items were marked as to what they were, even though we clearly ordered different things. It all came dumped on one tray and some was very poorly assembled. Went to complain and they brought some young studly looking guy with a heavy East Indian accent who tried to argue that the orders were all done correctly. Would not even look at the menu that plainly showed 2 of one item and we only got 1. It was like he wanted to fight me for the item missing. What food we did get was very poorly made and tasted even worse. The floor throughout the place was filthy with spilled food and dried pop everywhere. Tables where filthy. We decided NOT to sit down, as we would probably stick to the chairs. The only reason I gave it 1 star is because the pop actually tasted like it was labelled. I know, it is Taco Bell, but really? Maybe get the employees to learn the language and how to clean up the joint. And try treating the customers properly. They don't seem to realize that if you have no customers, then you got not job. This was some of the worst fast food experience I've ever had! Ordered the 4 piece chicken meal. No salad provided, fries only half full. Chicken was way over done. Staff terribly uncaring. The manager that runs this place will stare at you like some kinda evil villain when you're making an order. The workers barely speak English and the tacos are so skimpy with beef. I've had tacos with almost nothing in them, just a shell and a teaspoon of meat and a few strands of lettuce and a sprinkle of cheese. They really need better quality control. This place is FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!! I took my two sons out for some late night dinner after a long day breaking and entering Brooks' house. My first son ordered a party pack... okay simple enough it's 10 tacos 2 fries and 2 nachos for 20.99$. I go up and order a Crunchwrap supreme. Super simple to make. My next son goes up and orders ANOTHER party pack (now both my kids are bylemic and anerixic so thats why the party pack) 2 minutes goes by and no joke the first party pack is ready. 10 minutes go by, my nexts sons party pack is ready. And still no Crunchwrap combo. She asks what I'm waiting for and I said I ordered a Crunchwrap combo 15 minutes ago. They look at me confused like I'm a god damn mental retard... probably a punter or some sort of idiot. Eventually the manager steps in and asks what I ordered. He made it in THIRTY FUCKING SECONDS. He threw the tortilla on the counter put some beef and cheese on there and then a quick toast and threw the fries in straight from the frier. Boom fucking simple. We tried to go in the drive thru, waited for 5 minutes without an employee responding. Decided to go inside instead. Upon entering all workers were staring at us unnecessary till we left. The front counter employee that was working from 9:30-10pm stared at us with moments of silence after everything we said. Upon asking for condiments he got upset cos he had to add in sides of mayo. Our food came in about 50 seconds after ordering, and when we asked for the condiments we ordered, he grudging added 2 of each, one per person when we asked for extra. We left and checked our food, and all of it was cold. As if it had been sitting out for a while. We got sick almost immediately from it. Also the state of the restaurant was disgusting and there was a large pile of food on the floor in the view of the public. As someone who works in management in fast food in Nanaimo, this place needs to be investigated by food safe, and all the staff need to be taught proper customer service skills. Absolutely the worst Taco Bell on the planet. True story -- ordering in the drive-thru lane, I was ordering 3 items. I had to repeat them no less than 5 times, and they STILL didn't get it right. By the last time, it was as if the girl was purposely screwing with me and reading back something completely different than what I was ordering ... drove up to the window and asked what the h*ll the problem was, and the girl was just laughing. For me, Bell is the BEST hangover food available in all of Nanaimo (besides a Ricky's breaky) they hook you up big time with the hot sauce and ketchup. If Tracy the supervisor is working, you'll be taken care of with the condiments and a big smile and "have a great day..." Ya it's slow sometimes but whatever, can't go wrong with this place. DO NOT EAT HERE! My son got food poisoning from eating here this past Sunday and it was horrible how ill be became. It was our first time to this establishment and it was not as clean as I would have expected. After the first bite, my son commented that the chicken tasted odd but I had thought that perhaps it might have been a seasoning or something other than this. I would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone as they have had health code issues in previous years which I learned of after the fact. VERY DISAPPOINTED and angry that my child (who is normally extremely healthy and very active) became SO ill after eating here. Had purchased a gift card there and when trying to use it a few months later, was unable to as the owner argued with me that they never sold those gift cards so I never could have purchased it there. Great Taco Bell being the only one on the Island. I am a fairly regular customer and I usually have a really nice employee named Tracy. However I sometimes get others but they are always super polite and do things very well. They get my order correct every time and its always nice and quick, I'm never waiting long. My only issue is they don't always clean the lobby as often as they should. Tracy usually does but the others don't always remember to do it. But oh well as long as there is a clean table somewhere. read more

This Taco Bell location has gone down the drain in my opinion. I have been noticing it get worse and worse over the last few years. Went in for a visit yesterday and the eating area was completely filthy. The area where the pop machine is, the floor was covered in dried up pop, real sticky to walk on with my shoes. The eating area, tables were dirty, the food was cold, not hot, not fresh (Taco Bell and KFC food). I got sick after eating there. I encourage anyone and everyone reading this post to please contact corporate and let them know the state this location is in. The franchise owner was there when I visited the location. I am suspicious he doesn't care about how his restaurant is run, or how things have gotten. He has also hired foreign workers, that cant speak English clearly, and maybe they don't have good food safe practices in the countries they come from?
