We avoided it for a bit because we were put off by the name, thinking it was going to be super gringo Mexican. Not so! As for the prices, it's still cheaper than many of the mediocre American bistros found upstate. We typically order 3 tacos each plus 1-2 sides and are stuffed for ~$60. Try the cochinita pibil and the Tia Flor cocktail..

People love Upstate Taco and I hear rave reviews so not sure if the few times we popped in if it was just bad nights? The ambiance inside and outside are a plus. Counter service with the little buzzers. They have a small menu but tons of specials on the board, but nothing we ordered wowed us. In fact I liked the guacamole, house chips and Horchata the best! All the entrees fell flat. Shrimp tacos were super tiny, did not taste fresh, and honestly ended up dousing them in hot sauce. The poblanos locos were just ok, primarily heavily salty salty salt. The menu also leans generous for veg/pescatarians alike but maybe I'm just ordering the wrong things? Will probably give it another try

We'd killed two birds with the same stone when hubs had to gas up the 10' U-Haul at Valero on Ulster Ave in Kingston before returning it when I noticed Taste Of M. The heat and humidity were both thick and getting only refreshments while hubs pumped was the right thing to do at that moment. They have mostly beef, chicken and pork dishes- but sometimes they may carry fish for their tacos- so call ahead if fish is your primary protein. If fish is not in that day, these ladies can turn any item on the menu and create a Vegetarian one for you. The Agua de Jamaica for hubs and my Horchata I ordered are huge at $5ea and did the trick nicely. Service is swift then you're good to go. While I didn't go for their eats, this truck might just hit the spot.

For those who don't understand that, it means the United Nations. Yup. It's a great place to dance & grab a quick bite around 42nd or 43rd street. It's way over on the East River, that flat building. Yup. That one! I have been heading quickly towards insanity recently on what people tell me is still planet earth, America but I'm not saying another freakin word here. Just damnn I honest can't remember what I ordered (look at ur receipt Lee. No!) but what arrived via Dd was ab fab! It was Edible delicious Art! I'm not joking it was fabulous! I took 1 pic so ur gonna need to look quick at it as fast as u can since it might disappear too! Yup. Wait. Was it flying? Holy cow! My|our hearts go out to all of the families! Just unacceptable! Ok y'all.... I'm doing it dragon stop shoving! Hang on! I can't type that fast! Ok. Ready? Apparently, the universe-when left to itself or its own devices & in this insanity, we each need to choose one place to start with. One place each, that we love. If we make it a touchstone or them, if we keep checking to make sure they're still here. They're ok, it will help soothe our own heart. Our souls I ain't sure about! Holy freakin! This meal of course was from the 2 beauty ladies at Taste of Mexico. Still Here thank God! Yup! Thank you! I am ashamed by the current actions & choices of behavior by my country. An apology will never suffice-be enough. But, I can begin here by saying honestly, I am so sorry! Thank you. Oh holy moly my eyes just started leaking oh a kleenix thanks dragon. The pineapple aqua Fresca was sweet but not overpowering, wish they had strawberry one. For the tacos they bigger than street tacos by a mile and very generous with meat filling. Particularly the shrimp one was impressive since usually I find places that don't use jumbo size for shrimp tacos and just use popcorn size and a lot cilantro and onion to mask it. The consommé dip was incredible and glad they left chucks of beef in it like a little soup. The queso birria taco was not greasy or messy, right amount of cheese and beef. Some of us got coffees which took a bit but they were delicious. Definitely worth the wait. They have a good kids menu too. We got the frychos with chorizo as an appetizer which I've always loved but everyone at the table enjoyed them. Although I have my regular favorites I decided to try something off the brunch menu and I'm glad I did. I got the chilaquiles with green sauce and carne asada. It was very good. My only complaint was the steak wasn't cut up but that could be a personal preference. It tasted great. My husband got the breakfast torta with chorizo and really liked it. My mother in law got the breakfast omelet and she's very picky but loved it. The service was great the entire time. She even took a group photo for us at the end.

Had the cheese nachos this time as well as our faves from past visits. House-made flour tortilla chips blanketed in Mexican cheeses, black beans, guacamole, pickled jalapenos, tomatoes, lettuce and generous lashings of crema. Yes, the tomatoes were those pale imitation things and the lettuce is shredded iceberg, but it all worked, especially with the trio of house salsas. Was baby shark coming from a phone at the next booth over? Yes, but somehow it didn't matter, the food was so comforting. They bake Mexican pastries there too, and it seems like they've added pizza.

Most visits we've done take out, but recently we dined in and the dishes and had a great experience too. The front of house and back of house service hustles hard here. Aguas Frescas are delicious and not overly sugary or powdery. And most recently, we had a seafood soup special that was divine. And while you dine or wait for take out, admire the wonderful artisan designs on the furniture!
