I have wanted to try this since it opened and we finally made it here. And it was everything I had hoped and more! We had chorizo tacos, lengua tacos, bean tacos, and guacamole and chips. The chorizo was very flavorful. The portion size on all the tacos was such that one taco is really two. The guacamole was very yummy and the chips were fresh and hot! They have an entire vegetarian menu and the bean tacos were very good. All the tacos were added to from the plentiful condiments bar. The only things that might make this restaurant even better would be fresh jalapeños. They have pickled ones. And if they had small cups to get the items from the condiment bar it would be great. This is a an upscale taco stop in Frederick! First, the tacos are absolutely huge and served in medium size double corn tortillas. This means one taco is really two tacos. Remember this when ordering! I had the three taco plate, number 12, and it was really six tacos. There was enough filling to fill all six corn tortillas that came with the tacos even though they were made in threes. Way too much food for one person! My daughter ordered the number one which was much more reasonable and included two tacos and a small side of rice and beans. Between us, we tried the steak , the pork al Pastor and the chicken. All were delicious, but our favorite was the steak which was simple and seasoned just perfectly - tiny bits of freshly grilled yummy steak. The chicken, shredded and deliciously seasoned, came in a close second. The Al Pastor, which consisted of pork and pineapple, was our third favorite - all were good! We hit the fixings station where we loaded our tacos with cilantro, fresh limes, pico de gallo, and many delicious sauces were offered. I actually really liked this place. The food was good quality, the portions were very filling, the restaurant layout was nice and the staff were helpful. I got two al pastor tacos that came with chunks of pineapple and grilled onions and also got a steak torta that was HUGE. My son tried the Mexican style chicken nuggets that were also delicious and my husband got the special torta that came with ham, hot dog, and steak. They also have a salsa bar that has different types of salsas that you can add on to the food. Being born of real Mexican parents, Ive traveled to Mexico many times throughout the years and growing up so close to Mexico Ive grown up eating the food. Having given that introduction, you get the point. I can first hand give you a proper rating of the place. I tried this place randomly not knowing what to expect because when people say to me "lets eat Mexican food" i automatically role my eyes and say "ok, but i have not yet found a real real Mexican place in Frederick but we can try!" Let me tell you..... YOU MUST TRY THIS RESTAURANT! They have the best tacos in Frederick hands down! They fill them up n if your Mexican, you know that one real taco really means two when it has a bunch of meat and two tortillas instead of one! Their chips are bomb!!! They are literally what you get in Mexico! Their tortas are really good too! I tried their, fajita (skirt steak, which is actually what real Mexicans call it, FAJITA), their suadero is amazing, chorizo was bomb! Words cannot and will not express my sheer excitement when I found out my beloved Taco Bar was coming to Frederick. My co worker and I heard about the soft opening and immediately found an excuse to come in for lunch. I walked in and was impressed by everything I love about Taco Bar. The fresh salsa bar and the familiar menu. I go the 2 tacos (al pastor and steak), rice, and beans special with a drink (jarritos, of course!) and was not disappointed. The flavors (and portions) were all there. It made for a perfect lunch. The cashier was extremely friendly and I commend the cleanliness of the establishment. I'm from Southern California, and we take our tacos seriously. And this place can go punch for punch with any of the great taquerias in LA, San Diego, or Baja. The place was really clean, the music was at a good volume, the menu was easily laid out. I had the Al Pastor Tacos, my wife had the Shredded Beef Burrito, and my daughter the Chicken Burrito. While we ate, there was only the sound of chewing, so you know it was great. The salsa bar they had on hand was fresh, flavorful, and varied. I will now have to regularly make the trek from New Market to get tacos at my new favorite taco spot! read more

So messy. So much food. So authentic. So darn good. Finally made it over to Taco Bar with a fellow Yelper and my brother for Taco Tuesday and I sat that wondering why it took so long! I got the taco trio for their 20% off special (total bill came to around $9 without a drink) and I sampled the beef, pork (had onions and pineapple-I think that was my favorite), and shredded chicken. I also tried some of my friend's beef tongue and was surprised at how flavorful it was! At the mention of tongue, my brother refused to try it, but after some convincing was a fan as well! You order at the counter and get food to go, or they holler out your number and bring your fresh cooked order to your table when it's ready. You can Americanize the tacos with lettuce and sour cream or get them as is. As is is a lot more clean! The tacos come super stuffed and I went through quite a few napkins! That made the experience all the more fun. There's a decent selection of bottled drinks, or a little water dispenser with cups if you don't want to pay for a bottle water. This is a small hole-in-the-wall restaurant that serves authentic Mexican tacos. Each taco come with two corn tortillas. There's plenty of meat on it that I split the meat between both tacos rather than eating it as one. At the salsa bar, you can choose from mild to hot salsas; pico de gallo; plus other toppings such as onions, cilantro, limes, etc. There's no cheese or sour cream (that's American style) but you can pay extra for it. So normally when I go to taco bars I assume street tacos and little filling. So I can normally eat like 6-12 depending on the day. Don't make that mistake here. I ordered 7, and at three I was done. Full size corn tortilla and they fill them as much as possible while leaving just enough room to use the taco bar to add toppings. Had to take the meat out of the tacos just to stand a chance. I've been a costumer for years, starting from their first location in Gaithersburg & now Frederick since we moved. I loved this place, but lately they have been a disappointment. The first time they forgot to give us a torta and we didnt notice until we got home. Now, their sopes didn't even have crema or queso. They now give you 2 sauces for a $30 order for 3 people (if you dont ask for more). I understand the pandemic has affected us all, but they shouldn't be charging as much as they do if they're not going be efficient. read more

These are the best tacos in Frederick, hands down. The Pastor and Beef Lenguas (tongue) are exceptionally awesome. I haven't branched out past the tacos yet, but I will definitely be trying the Menudo as I'm a big fan of tripe. The salsa bar is on point. It's spicy enough to break a sweat, but it's not going to kill you. My only complaint is that there aren't more meat options. My favorite taco places have all sorts of weird options like tripe, "head meat", etc. Still, so much better than the next best taco in Frederick! Update: Tripe tacos are now a thing! They cut the tripe up very small and get it very crispy, but I still really liked it! A little bit of a funky, stomachy flavor. I tried this place for lunch with my family and we really loved it. They have a truly authentic menu and can accommodate children, as well as vegetarians. The restaurant is very welcoming and clean. The decor is cute and comfy. They also have a salsa bar to top all of your tacos to the high heavens. My kids really enjoyed their quesadillas. I had the bean tacos which were delicious. My husband tried the veggie torta sandwich, which was just okay. He decided to order tacos and enjoyed them much much better. The food is well flavored and not too salty. This has been on my list of places to check out and it was so good, I dont know why or how I waited so long. The inside decorations are awesome but I really came for the tacos. I got one steak and one chorizo taco and my friend and I split chips and guacamole. The chorizo taco was unbelievable (and only $3.50). They dont load up the taco with anything but the meat and then you can choose what salsas to top it with. So simple, authentic and delicious. It's at the end of the golden mile near the Weis, if you are in the area stop in and check it out they have a big menu full of tacos, Tortas, sopes, burritos, and they even have a really big vegetarian menu to order from. read more

This new location is awesome! Very clean and inviting. The food is just as good as the one down in Gaithersburg, but this location is much bigger, and closer to me. The chicken tacos are great, but my favorites are the beef tongue and chorizo. The tongue is very fresh and lightly seasoned, and the texture is really next level. It's hard to find places that serve lengua tacos, and Taco Bar does it right. The chorizo is spectacular, and reminds me of the tacos I make at home. Well seasoned, and comes steaming hot to your table. The whole appeal of this place is the toppings bar, so don't miss out on it. They have a small selection, but everything is there. The spicy salsa verde is great, but they also have less spicy versions of their salsas if you don't like the heat. Fresh cilantro, limes, red and white onion, and jalapenos are all out for you to add to your dishes; it can't get much better. Wow! I'm not a big taco fan, but this place may change that. Had the steak and fish taco and guacamole and chips. Tacos were outstanding. Steak very flavorful. Salsa bar was the perfect match. I tried them all and all were great. The guac and chips were a little pricey but neither the guacamole or chips were ordinary. Guacamole was creamy and well seasoned and plentiful. We originally had a hard time finding this place (Google directions were off) but we eventually did - it is easy to miss. It is a small, modern looking cafe with a small salsa bar. The dining area and bathroom were clean. Their menu is authentic offering meats you usually don't find at "Americanized" Mexican places (intestines, beef tongue and tripe soup). The prices were reasonable. The staff were very helpful, cheerful and explained their menu clearly. They even gave me a free sample a specialty, home made tea before I decided I wanted to order it - it was delicious. I ordered the 3 taco combo with corn tortillas. The portions were generous. I had chicken and fish. I ordered it "American style" which had lettuce, cheese and pico. The chicken was juicy but disappointedly bland. I needed a lot of salt, pepper and salsa. The fish was fried nicely and it was tasty. Unfortunately, the sauce for the fish tacos was also bland. The salsa bar was a nice touch. This is a second location for this owner and even though it's a new location, same great taste and service. Absolutely love the atmosphere here and the decor is just beautiful. SO YUMMY. It wasn't super cheap, but well worth the price. I got chicken and shredded beef and Josh got shredded beef and carnitas. All were so good. The best part was the salsa bar with four or five different types of salsas, onions, and limes. You have to pay extra for cheese, sour cream, and lettuce but only $0.50 per topping. The rice and beans that came with it were pretty standard but it was nice it came with the meal. Everyone in the restaurant was so friendly. Also, the guac was amazing and fresh.
