Decent location just west of Harlem near the highway with ample free parking. Service was friendly and attentive, no question, and the place was clean / inviting (tables, chairs, walls, bathroom - all looked great). Prices were also fair since it's a counter order setup with no table server. The food, unfortunately, was only average. Not bad at all, don't get me wrong, but it was nothing special. I really wanted to like this place more (especially because they managed to work in a profane word in their business's name) but it just lacked flavor. We had steak, chorizo, pastor and chicken tacos. We also had red enchiladas and a torta but it was just so-so. I'd go back after a long while. Maybe we caught them on an off night. I heard a lot about the place and wanted to check out. Small, quaint and very clean. Seats about 40 people. Has a couple of outside tables. Easy parking. Metal chairs. Yuk!! It's what I call, not quite fast food. Daily specials, extensive meat choices , like goat, pork, chorizo, etc I ordered a couple of tacos. The cashier gave me number and I took a seat. I ordered the grill chicken tacos with corn tortillas. The waitress allowed me to taste their Margaritas. Three different varieties. Yummy and they had quite 'kick to them. A little pricey for me. $7.95. I had to pass. The tacos arrived they were small, but pretty tasty. The have a salsa bar that allows you to pick your level of 'hotness. It a good local place. After a night of Latin dancing lessons, Eric S and I stopped by Tacabron for a taco fix. As soon as Eric mentioned the name, I was sold! Coming from a Puerto Rican background, we use "está cabrón" or "'ta cabrón" for everything from "that's f***ed up" to "that's f***ing awesome!". We found a parking spot quickly and went in. We ordered at the counter, got two margaritas, and sat at our table to wait for our food. While we were waiting, I noticed a well stocked salsa bar on the side, which was a very nice touch. As well as a pour-it-yourself water station. We didn't wait long for our food to arrive. I went with a taco platter ($10) with one of each: al pastor, battered fish, and camarón. We got some guacamole and chips ($6) on the side and some churros ($4) for dessert. Tacos al pastor are my taco-meter for mexican places. You either have it or you don't. Tacabron weighs in right at the middle of the road. The meat was nice and tender but a little on the dry side. It also needed a little bit more sazón. Their fish taco was amazing as well as the camarón. The guacamole was good and the churros were awesome with their cajeta dipping sauce. All in all, a pretty good place to go! Yesterday, I went to Tacabron probably for the last time. I ordered the enchilada platter. It was my mistake that I ordered the sauce on the side. But I ordered green and red and I only got the green. I didn't request the red because after tasting the enchilada it wasn't worth it. The enchilada was basically ground beef rolled into a tortilla with a speck of cheese. I looked at a picture of an enchilada platter from a few years ago and mine was totally different - less cheese, and no lettuce, tomato or sour cream. I am disappointed that they no longer have the salsa bar but it is understandable but to be cheap on the ingredients - not! read more

I said I'd be back for that Fried Ice Cream... I guess it only took 3 days! First off, I strongly believe fried ice cream is heaven's gift to man. Finally tried the new taco place in town and was definitely satisfied with the results. I got a 3 goat tacos platter (no beans double rice) -cilantro and onions and my wife ordered a taco salad with chicken no tomato. The restaurant was really clean and modern looking. You can tell they really care about their presentation. The goat tacos were flavorful and moist, definitely brought me back to my Greek family goat roasts. Goat has it's own flavor and Tacabron definitely used the natural flavor with the meat. I'm always worried about the tortillas being too greasy/oily tasting. The corn tortillas were great, exactly how you would want the tortillas to taste like. My wife enjoyed her chicken taco salad. It had plenty of meat and the ingredients were really fresh. Another place we really wanted to see succeed but just can't support it. Way too many things wrong with it to make it worthwhile. Especially when there are so many other great Mexican and taco stands in the area. The problems start with them always out of things. Bland flavor. Fajitas were literally a pile of peppers and onions with a small sliced chicken breast in it and seasons with salt and pepper! The worst fajitas we ever ate. You don't get chips and salsa when you eat it. What Mexican restaurant doesn't give you chips and salsa at the table. And when you do order them, there is no refills. They have a salsa bar but it's almost always empty when we've visited it or the salsas that are left are all watery. When you place an order, it takes forever to get food. It's a taco stand not a steak house. What's the hold up? Then when you get the food, it comes out randomly. So if you are in a party of 6 people and 2 get their food and then 10 minutes later another 2 get their food and the last get there's another 10 minutes after that, it's just doesn't work. Maybe if you are alone it's ok, but not with anyone else. Including kids. Seriously, we saw them bring out food for the mom and dad next to us while the kids had to wait. Who serves parents first? They do have a couple good tacos. The goat and steak are pretty good, but not worth the price or hassle. Parking is weird too. If you can't get in the lot on the side, you have to park on the street and that means your car will hang out onto Harrison street and looks like you will get rear ended. The final straw is the staff, specifically the cashier. The same girl has been working the counter since as long as we can remember. She sadly has the personality of the mascot goat. No smile, expressionless, unfriendly, compassionless when she tells you they are out of whatever you ordered and could care less to be there. And if you ask for anything, they give you a dirty look and charge you for it. Everything gets a charge. Apparently they opened another location. Maybe that one will be better. read more

This has been our go-to place for quick, Mexican food since they opened. My GF and I have usually ordered the daily specials when we've gone in the past. However, when we went last weekend things seemed to have change. There are no longer any daily specials. What? All of the unique sauces that kept us coming back are gone and have been replaced with your typical red and green. Are you kidding me? How about some chips before our food comes, this is standard in any Mexican restaurant. We wanted tacos for takeout, so we went ahead and ordered just about every one. We had: al pastor, steak, chicken, grilled fish, veggie, and shrimp. They were all delicious-- so flavorful and perfectly balanced. I think the shrimp and the al pastor were my favorite, but that doesn't mean I don't *also* want each of the other ones in my order ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The salsas they included were the perfect compliment. The menu is small the way I like a good menu, and they have Tecate Light which is one of my favorite Mexican Light beers behind Pacifico. So I ate good and drank good. I finally got the chance to try Tacabron and it was fantastic! I tried the tacos and they were all delicious, but my favorite was the ground beef. All of their food is very reasonably priced and they got our order out to us very quickly. The decor inside is simple, but nice. The place is very clean! The location is convenient for commuters on the Blue line and parking is easy with either street parking or in their lot. This is a plus for me since the other taco places I enjoy have no convenient parking, especially when I just want to quickly order out. Inside is modern, cute, and clean. It was not busy that evening with only 2 patrons eating inside on a weekday evening. I ordered tacos to go-steak, barbacoa, and picadillo mexican style. While I waited I watched the cooks take large trays of cooked meat and put them away. That was not a good sign as it indicated that my meal was probably not going to be fresh. Of all 3 tacos, the picadillo was best, followed by barbacoa, then steak. Usually steak is my 1st choice when I frequent other taco joints, but it lacked flavor and was kind of dry-probably because it was not fresh and reheated...? I'd be willing to give it another try, but perhaps dine in and try a platter such as milanesa or chile rellenos and a margarita. read more

Not happy with this place. Told them that I was a vegan. I ordered a burrito. It came with rice and refried beans. When I got the plate, the refried beans had cheese on it. So after having to wait forever to get my food, now had to wait even longer because they screwed up the order. And how cheap do you have to be to not include chips with your order. Have never gone to a Mexican restaurant where you didn't get chips. And, btw, the metal chairs are sooooooo uncomfortable. The backs of the chairs hurt your back. Needless to say, I will not be back. I've been to Tacabron twice and it has been fantastic each time (apparently I only checked in once though!). The service and food have been great, while the bill has been reasonable. I've had the enchiladas and burrito platter along with their specialty margaritas. The platters are a healthy serving at a decent price. The specialty margs are tasty and have a kick. The ordering concept at Tacabron is slightly different from a typical restaurant, you order first and then grab a table. One of the things that makes Tacabron unique is the salsa/condiments bar. You get to pick which salsas you want and how much of each you want. I highly recommend Tacabron and will continue to dine here in the future! read more

Tasty taqueria in Forest Park (finally!). The tacos are definitely the way to go here. I've been back a few times so far, and the pastor does not disappoint. Neither does the salsa bar. The location is super convenient for grabbing a bite before hopping a train. The decor and atmosphere is great, and the staff have been welcoming and polite every time I stop in. We had a variety of tacos including: the carnitas (so flavorful!), lengua (delicious!), al pastor (phenomenal!), and their special tacabron,which is their goat taco (this one was my favorite). Their chips seem to be made in house and their guacamole is super good. Their restaurant is clean with a fun atmosphere and staff are very attentive and friendly. So glad this took over the disappointing grill and bar that was here before! Agree with another poster: the al pastor taco is freaking AMAZING! The tacabron (goat taco) is soft and stewed, and reminds me a little of Jamaican food. The steak taco was my husbands favorite. Their tortillas are made in house and are freakin' amazing. I could just eat the tortillas. The salsa bar is unique and has all sorts of heat choices. The alcohol section is small, as are the vast majority of choices, but this is a no frills place. Come in, eat your tasty tacos, and GTFO. We'll be trying their breakfasts next: being right next to the Blue Line stop makes my husband so happy that we has a place to get a breakfast burrito and a coffee for $6! This is a new place in Forest Park that is inheriting a building that has turned over many times. I love the idea of an authentic taco shop in town and as a south-sider I appreciate everything south of the Ike! After hearing tons of rave reviews I finally came by for take-out dinner. The place is completely reversed from the BKT days. There is no bar, though they do serve margaritas and Mexican beers. The eat-in portion is an order at the counter and take a number to your table affair. Water and salsa bar on the dining side. The eat-in Area was fairly filled at 7:30 on a weekday, but not so much to need a reservation (if they take them). Now to the food. I ordered as part of a taco flight a tacabron (goat taco), and two seafood tacos. Also a carnita burrito and a cheese quesadilla. All of which were excellent! They were all well filled with the meat and tasted great without other fillings overwhelming the flavor of the main ingredient. The sauces were decent, but no single one stood out to me. I like the salsa bar but feel it could use some tweaking. All in all, this is a wonderful addition to the south side Forest Park scene and I'll go back all the time. With the new park development across the street, perhaps we'll have a long-term restaurant in this location! read more

I came here because of the good reviews. I don't know if I came in on a bad day or if the reviewers are not accustomed to real Mexican food but no bueno! Our food was just warm. The steak was dry. The pastor was dry and flavorless. I didn't even get the chorizo taco I ordered. The mild salsa tasted like Del Monte tomato sauce with some chopped onion thrown in. The rice had zero flavor. Just had tacabron. Called in an order for pickup and they said 10 minutes. Took way longer. Ordered 3 chicken tacos with cilantro and onion. The chicken is hard and dry. They over did the onion. More like onion tacos. Ordered another 3 with lettuce and sour cream and they put tacos. Asked for 2 green sauces and 2 red sauces and only received 1 of each. They were also watered-down. I really wanted to love this place. I was sold on the name alone, the service was great and the decor is beautiful. Their salsa bar was pretty good, place is clean with a good atmosphere. However the food was pretty mediocre, I could have gotten better tacos from a local Mexican grocery for half the price. They lacked flavor and for what you pay the quality of the meat didn't stack up. With Berwyn/Cicero a stone throw away this place really has to bring it's A game. read more
