Very very very over priced. Can easily find a better place to go in Denver for 1/4 of the cost.

We were at the Tabernash Tavern last night for dinner. We mostly ordered salads and burgers. The Caesar salad comes deconstructed and is delicious! The dressing is somewhat spicy. The kid's chicken tenders looked yummy. I had The Burger. I wanted to try the antelope burger, but the regular burger sounded too good to pass up. It was cooked perfectly and came with a spicy pickle and really good fries. I got mushrooms on top; they were soooo good! However, the service was pretty slow (it was a Monday night), and it's a pricey place. Even though they have some really appetizing things in the menu, it generally seemed overpriced. read more

This place was awesome and unexpected. My wife and I went here when we were detoured when we couldn't pass through Rocky Mountain National Park because of weather. I had the sliders (Elk, Boar, and I forget the third meat) and some great beers. Excellent atmosphere and exactly what we were looking for. read more

Went in with a group of friends on a recommendation from a local while on a weekend ski trip. Great atmosphere and great service. If you're a vegetarian, this isn't your place. Expensive, but great quality food, very flavorful. When I looked at the menu online ahead of time, I had my heart set on the crab stuffed trout. When I got to the restaurant, it wasn't on the menu. They had a great seafood pasta special that six of eight of us at the table were planning on getting, only to find out they were out of pasta. Seriously? I was pretty disappointed at that point as I wasn't feeling any other entrées and I'm not a steak eater, so I settled for a burger for $20. The salads were awesome, again very flavorful. Wished I would've stayed with a large wedge salad and another small taste/app. I'd go back, but probably with some reservations. read more

As always excellent service and great food. I love eating here and sharing this spot with my friends

I love stopping here on our way to Grand Lake. Everything we've had has been great! Calamari is awesome and so is the meatball appetizer.

Great looking menu, unfortunately the food did not live up to the hype... Or price point. 3/5 of the meals were done well however the halibut was eerily cold. The place definitely has an odd ambiance for the cost. But hey, maybe you like to stare at a suitcase nailed to the wall while you scarf down a $50 steak. read more

Delicious! Casual, ski/muntain ambiance which I love...with a twist - amazingly great food n drinks! We came here for our anniversary and it was awesome. Ordered a delicious bottle of brut champagne ($24). Not sure where else u can pop bottles and have rack of lamb while ur wearing jeans n a tank top after mountain biking all day. Better than anything ever had in denver for the same price point. Hands down. We spoke to and complemented the chef which u e never done before in my life. It definitely exceeded my expectations read more

Wonderful food and staff. A bit more expensive, but worth the money. Everything we had was delicious. If in the Winter Park/Granby area, stop in for happy hour to check it out! read more

Halibut was epic. The food was all unique but very good. Great variety. I can't wait to come back.

Wow, this was a surprise! I had no idea when we walked in, what we were getting ourselves into. From the outside, it looks like a dive bar. And what else would you expect off Hwy 40 in Tabernash, CO? But what a treat! The next day we were still in awe. Within my group, we had the Lobster Mac & Cheese, Risotto, Asian Chicken + Tuna Tartare. All were excellent, but the Lobster Mac took the prize for all of us. The wine list was sufficient, and there was a great selection of beers. There were two things that kept this from being a five star review. The first was the noise level. The restaurant was close to full, not quite, but the acoustics were challenging. It was hard to hear the people across the table. The second thing, was that it definitely took a while for our food to arrive. No one in our group ordered a starter, but the time between our order and arrival was significant. It wasn't a huge deal, because hey, you're in the mountains and either on vacation or away for the weekend, and as long as you have good company its all good. read more

Love dining here for a special occassion or a family celebration! The menu is delicious, as is the wine selection! Atmosphere is good. Need more parking spaces. Cheers! read more

Wonderfully prepared meats. Excellent service. Some of the sides could use a little tweaking.

I've eaten at a number of the best steak restaurants here in Atlanta and Tabernash ranks up there with the best. My family prefers the filet, where I prefer a NY strip. Where the strip may not be as tender as the filet, I find it has a more robust beef flavor and if selected and cooked properly it can be as good or better than the filet and in the case of the Tabernash Tavern NY Strip it most certainly was. It was as good or better than Prime, Chops or Kevin Rathbun Steak. The buffalo brussels sprout appetizer was interesting and tasty and the side items were nothing to write home about. It may not have the ambiance of the aforementioned restaurants but I'd rather pay for the food than the fixtures. The service was excellent and overall the dining experience was very nice. It's pricey but worth it. Reservations are recommended as it always busy, even mid week. read more

The Tavern has some of the best food in the County! Great atmosphere, awesome service, eclectic menu with so many amazing flavor profiles. Love that the menu constantly changes so we get to try wonderful new dishes. Really exceptional place all around. read more

Ate here over Valentines Day and everything was amazing! Spent a lot of time around Winter Park and tried several places, this one blows them all out of the water! Worth the drive from WP! read more

I got the pork chops. They were amazing!! This is truly the best meal I have eaten in awhile! I only wish I were in town another night to go again. The atmosphere is pretty casual but with an upscale feel. The tavern itself was decorated in a way that made you feel at home. If my plans include coming through Fraser/Winter Park again, this will be my spot for dinner! read more

This is the best food in the region. It's expensive, but you get what you pay for, an incredible meal. I lived in Chicago for 10 years and ate at some good restaurants. This restaurant is just as good as any of those in a major city. read more

Excellent! A jewel! We truly enjoyed our dinner here. Highly recommended this restaurant!

One of the best restaurants in the Winter Park area. Great menu choices. Would have been 5 stars if it weren't for the high ( excessive) prices. read more

Had some friends who went here a few weeks ago and they had a very good experience. Know others who have also had good experiences. Unfortunately, our experience last week was different. The chef couldn't get our orders cooked right. My wife ordered ahi tuna rare to medium rare and it came out well done. I ordered my steak medium rare and it came out well done as well. We both sent our orders back and got our second round later. Both of our orders were again medium plus. Our kids had already finished their meals so we didn't bother sending them back this time. Disappointing. I'll give it 3 start, my personal experience was 2 but will bump to 3 based upon my friend's experience which isn't reflected in yelp. read more

I have been to the Tabernash Tavern twice since I moved to Colorado and cannot wait to return. The food is absolutely Spot On and Delicious. I am very picky when it comes to restaurants and I have to say the food is some of the best I have ever had. I like how their menu is always fresh. It gives lots of options. There really is something for everyone. Cannot wait to go back!! read more

This place had amazing food. Service was adequate but not great. However the food is what matter most! Presentation was great, and flavors were spot on. We had a party of 6, and dishes ranged from wild game meatloaf, lobster tail, ribeye, and lamb. The lady who is English said the lamb wasn't strong enough, but still said the dish was good. The Baileys cheesecake was amazing! I would advise finding this place! Next time we are at Winter Park skiing, we sure will. read more

I ordered the pork chop which was very good, tender and moist. The side dishes were ok but not terrific. Service was good and the prices were reasonable for the quality of the dining experience. read more

The atmosphere was superb as were the serving staff. However, I have one phrase for tavern ash -"too much". My husband and I split an appetizer, salad, and entree. The appetizer, a fried Brussels sprout dish, was overpowered by the buffalo sauce and blue cheese crumbles. I could not detect Brussels sprout flavor in it at all- it could've been cardboard under the sauce and cheese. The Caesar salad was interesting, huge, spicy and complex. The entree of wild meatloaf was delicious but 3 pieces and mashed potatoes- oy vey. Too much food. Tone down the amount of food per serving and allow the veggie flavors through! read more

We have had many dinners here, only one when the service was good. The food is always excellent. The service is poor, at best. We were celebrating a birthday which I shared when we arrived early. The waiter could not be bothered to greet us and their were multiple other exchanges that made the evening disappointing and uncomfortable. I don't often write reviews, but we were so dissatisfied with the service (again! And the sentiment that we felt), I wanted to share. read more

Less than stellar. Waiter was indifferent. Food was ok but definitely not worth the price. $50 steak was more like a $10 cut. Calamari was good. Muscles were good but didn't take on all the different favors they offered. Way too much garlic in everything read more

The very BEST in Grand County! Love their happy hour as well as their dinner entree selections. The staff are well trained and very attentive plus provide the local welcome attitude. read more

Food was great, a little pricey but worth it. I was a bit leery on how the wait staff was going to be since 3 different people walked past me without acknowledging I was there, but once seated they were wonderful. read more

Went for my wife's b-day, we had been once before and it had been very good. This recent visit though was pretty bad. My wife's entrée was luke warm, my steak was pitiful, undercooked, and frankly low quality. Overall it was extremely overpriced for the quality of the food. Service was ok/average. We won't go back. read more

Ate there last night. Over priced and disappointed. I asked for my antelope burger well done and it came out medium. My wife wanted her burger medium and it came out well and tough. Fries were soggy. Best bet here are the appetizers. They were good and reasonable price wise. Overall disappointed. read more

Awesome! The building is an old one, renovated from the early 1900's in a GREAT way, and added onto for the kitchens and service areas. The ambiance is wonderful, it is comfortable, and the service was great. The menu was so diverse, that we had a hard time making up our minds. The food was WONDERFUL. We tried a Baked Brie in a Sesame Crust with an orange/cranberry sauce with fresh fried Wonton Chips for an appetizer that was truly delicious. read more

My husband and I had our rehearsal dinner at Tabernash Tavern this summer and the staff made everything perfect. We had rented the back patio area which was super cozy and Colorado cool. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating and the food is amazing. Would definitely recommend as a perfect rehearsal dinner spot! read more

I must say first off that I applaud the chef and owners for trying to create a foodie draw in little town Colorado. However, I don't think they are quite there yet in delivering exquisite world class cuisine. For my wife and I on our honeymoon, we were pleasantly surprised but not blown away by the food. Now that I think of it there was something off on every dish (e.g. stale tortilla strips in the Caesar asada, bland chickpeas on the meditteranean grille, etc.) but the overall meal was filling and decent. The one thing that I think the management should look at changing is their wine list. Each of the three wines that we had tasted like bottom shelf wine at a Walgreens and were each priced over $10 a glass. I would go to the Tavern again, but sadly like many other restaurants that I have been to that attempt to show their worldly tastes, they miss poorly on the execution. read more

At this price point, I really expected a much better experience. This restaurant will not do any substitutions, and has only only a single choice of potato and vegetable with the steaks. So, my kids could not substitute fries (which were offered with the burgers) for the mashed potatoes with their steaks. My wife can't eat dairy, and it was difficult for her to find anything on the menu that she could eat. She certainly couldn't eat the mashed potatoes, which were laced with cream cheese. Most of the side dishes on the other entrees were prepared with butter or cream, and of course there were no substitutions. The vegetable of the night was butternut squash, which was a poor choice by the chef. It was not particularly tasty. It certainly didn't complement the mashed potatoes very well. My wife ordered the pork chop, medium well. It came back medium rare. They recooked it without complaint, but that is the sort of mistake which shouldn't happen in a place of this supposed quality. I could go on, but I don't want to sound like one of those reviewers who has unreasonable demands and wouldn't be pleased with anything. But in a high-end restaurant, you need to get the details right, and this place didn't. read more

Food was good, but man, dinner took FOR-EV-ER. We had reservations for 12 people and had to wait to be seated. Yes, 12 is a lot people, but we had just confirmed our reservation a few hours before so you'd think they'd be ready for our big group. Anyway...I realize that 12 is a big group to serve, but service was unnaturally slow. We had to ask for bread numerous times. I'd say it took about an hour to get our food. We were all so hungry that no one really talked during the meal and we scarfed down our food down in about 15 min. Then, we had to wait 30 min for the check! We were sooo ready to leave by the end of it. A good restaurant should make you want to come back, not have you running for the door! Finally, it was a very pricey restaurant. I'm from Chicago, so I'm used to hefty prices, but this was a little ridiculous. For example: I ordered paella to share with another person - we cleared our plate even after a big appetizer. My go-to Spanish restaurant in Chicago offers paella for $12-$15 per person and it is a HUGE delicious dish. Tabernash's paella was just ok and was $40!! Overall, the food was good but not worth the price and slow service. read more

Food good. Service good. Kitchen took an hour to crank out dinner with seemingly few tables. Too bad.

Awesome everything! Our server I think her name was Suni, was great. Our table had lots of questions and she was great at answering em. She made some recommendations- all great choices. The appetizers, the soup, our entrees - everything was delicious. This place is on our list of return visits read more

Consistently good food and unique creations make Tabernash Tavern one of the better restaurants in the Granby / Winter Park area. The filet is excellent, though I couldn't finish and requested it to go. The waiter/bartender brought me a box to do it myself at our small high top table. Tacky. Look, I don't mind paying $52 for an 8oz. filet, but I expect the small courtesy of having leftovers, if any, boxed for me. This lack of service is unfortunate because while the food is excellent, I would be embarrassed to bring visiting guests and encounter the same scenario. read more

This is a rewrite of my original review which seems to have mysteriously disappeared???? The Tabernash Tavern is adequate at best. Food is okay, but for a restaurant that sells themselves on their beer selection, it was disappointing and not worth the drive... this place is in the middle of nowhere. read more
