However, note the following: Packing and moving services were both utilized. Representative came to review primary location of belongings to be moved (approx. 90-95% of the total) and was provided with a detailed video of the remaining items, stored at a different location. Despite this upfront information, (a) the total weight was significantly in excess of the estimated amount, resulting in damage to the transport vehicle and a 2-day delay, and (b) at the secondary location the supervisor informed us that there was insufficient room for everything. He had to be cajoled and convinced into making the extra effort... which proved effective and successful. A number of bookcases were damaged during while handling and required subsequent repair, at our expense. One item was a tool cabinet containing a variety of hand tools, hardware, and the like. The crew's solution to this was to simply wrap and seal the cabinet in plastic, and put it in the truck. By the time it was in place at the destination, we found that the contents were in utter chaos, luckily with minimal breakage. Some softbound oversized books were placed in boxes haphazardly or sloppily, resulting in significant creasing of wide swaths of pages. A few items additional appear to have gone missing (none of particular value) and a small number of items were broken. Overall I would in fact recommend their services, particularly in consideration of the pricing, but I would strongly recommend that if you contact them for packing services that these be closely and carefully supervised.

Before your move date, I highly recommend you contact your local parking authority to get "No Parking" signs beforehand, and consolidate as much stuff into as few boxes / bags as possible. (Extra large trash bags can come in really handy.). Pre-pack as much as you can 2-3 weeks in advance too. Mystical Moving Company…read more I was happy to work with Shonari for my move from New Jersey to South Carolina as he had come highly recommended. After 3 visits to assess the job - 1 virtual and 2 in person - my family and I were told "You have less than I thought - No problem", that it would take "3 Hours to pack the truck" and further that "We'll pack anything you didn't." To our dismay, it took 7+ hours instead of 3 hours. In about the 7th hour we were informed that there was no room left in the truck for several items. Thus a sleep sofa, 3 tables, 3 indoor trees, cleaning supplies and other items- both of utility and sentimental value - were trashed. Unbeknownst to us at the time, various other items of value were left behind in the house. Having already protracted our departure time by 4 hours, at this point we had to depart so as not to lose our hotel reservation in North Carolina. The sum total of the replacement value of the trashed and left behind items borders on $2,000. Beyond the monetary loss is the emotional loss - possessions of deep sentimental value, many of which are irreplaceable. Finally, upon unpacking and realizing that 1 of the 4 -carefully wrapped by us - identical and irreplaceable indoor lamp posts was missing, I twice phoned Shonari but could not leave a message of inquiry as the voice mail had not been set up. Ultimately i emailed him, politely inquiring if he may know of its whereabouts (See Below). Upon receiving no response, i emailed again. To this day I have received NO RESPONSE. This whole experience was quite horrifying to me since I was completely misled, and had to leave behind many valuable and expensive items, some irreplaceable. I'm 8 1/2 months pregnant and was pretty worried about how this would go. They sent three guys who were punctual, professional and exceptionally hard working! One did most of the wrapping and packing while the other two brought the furniture and boxes down and did most of the loading on the truck. At some point while they packed and emptied my apartment I fell asleep on my sofa. The guys were nice enough to pack around me and move everything else until I woke up so they wouldn't disturb me! Really really thoughtful. I've lived in the city for years and have moved a handful of times and none of the previous movers compared to these. You can tell it wasn't their first rodeo. After a few items were wrapped, protected and loaded with care I relaxed and realized they'd do a fantastic job. They packaged things like the TV and larger plants so carefully that not even a single leaf was broken! Crazy but true! Yes, they charge for packaging some stuff in boxes but it was very fair and discussed ahead of time. I didn't have issues with the estimate being low and final price being higher as I read in other reviews. The estimate they gave me was pretty spot on. I was given a range depending on how many boxes they had to pack and it was on the lower end of the range. The only issue I had was that the truck got a ticket and the company called and asked to split it. I didn't like that because it's pretty standard that all delivery and loading trucks get ticketed in the city. I've never heard of the customer sharing that. They didn't press the issue tho so in the end it was fine. I gave them 5 stars because the service was hands down the best I've had and will definitely use them again! I highly recommend them-

We had a three man crew, and one man seemed to be very confused about where to go and what to do at all times. I have moved twice in the city before and both times have been way faster and efficient. My partner and I ended up helping unload the truck and boxes ourselves just to keep them moving along. I also had to supply them my own blanket to wrap a computer monitor in because they did not know how to pack it. In addition, I found that the extra costs were a bit much. We were charged a driving time of 30 mins to get to the first location even though the apartment was a 10 minute drive from the warehouse. We were also told we would get a $60 "box credit" which helped cover TV boxes on the day of the move, but then we got charged an additional $100 for other materials used (blankets, tape, wrap, etc.) Normally moving companies do not charge you for tape. They got our belongings from point A to point B, and nothing was majorly damaged. However, I am not sure we would use this moving company again.

They showed up exactly on time and moved me out of my old apartment and into a third floor walk up in less than three hours! The final cost was right in line with what Helen quoted me. Upon entering our apartment, one of the movers, before even introducing himself, wanted to know if he could take the window a/c units home for himself. They spilled coffee all the way down our landlord's steps and now she's asking us to pay for a $250 cleaning bill. They complained to us the entire day about having to move all the boxes and furniture (you know, they job they were hired to do). At our new home, they left garbage everywhere and our large furniture items upside down and left in shrink wrap. They damaged or destroyed so many pieces of furniture, including tearing a huge hole in our couch. They slammed down a box that was clearly marked fragile; every glass inside was carefully wrapped in foam and paper, but their extreme treatment still shattered a glass into a thousand pieces. And since they have the payment, they don't care; they refuse to answer or return our calls now. Oh, and they don't inform you until the end when they demand payment the same day that they will upcharge you if you try to use a credit card. I can't recommend other movers enough. Stay clear of Morrissey Moving unless you want the quality of service you can get from random bums on the street.
