I've done business with T. Oki for years and they were OK until recently. I purchased a Wolf range from T. Oki when they were on Waiwai Loop and so now, 25 years later or so, I called them to purchase a new range. They put me in touch with Faye and she quoted me a price for a 30" Viking range because they don't sell Wolf ranges. Since I did my research on strictly Wolf ranges she offered to email me info on Viking ranges. She said she could do it easily. This was on a Wednesday and I told her I was looking to purchase/order on Friday. I get no email by Thursday so I call T. Oki and was transferred to Faye's line and recording. I left a message and by Friday I get no call back or emails so I go to Best Buy and purchase the same Viking gas range for the same price but they only charge me $30 delivery. T.Oki uses an outside delivery company so the delivery charge would have been significantly more. The business owner is very friendly and easy to talk to. No "pushy" sales tactics. He works on Saturdays. I had gone with the intention to pickup a flapper and/or possibly the stem piece that the flapper is connected to. The owner showed me something similar that I could replace that piece with. The main difference in design was that instead of a flapper, the mechanism that opened-and-closed went straight up-and-down. Using one of the toilets on display, he showed me what I needed to do to remove and replace the pre-existing mechanism inside. Talk about customer service! Sorry, I'm not a plumber and don't know the terms of what's what in the toilet. But just the fact that he spent the time to show me how to remove and replace the unit, was appreciated. Went home and did the DIY on my toilet. What seemed like a quick fix took me some time, as I had to work within a small narrow space in the toilet tank. After replacing the insides and flushing the toilet that first time, wow, I like that new piece. It cost about the same if I would have changed the stem piece. Now, instead of a flapper, all that is needed is a round silicone piece to cover the hole at the bottom of the tank. Awesome! Toilet flushes much better now. read more

I came here after visiting the Toto showroom in Mapunapuna. You would think the Toto sales people would be more helpful being that you're paying top dollar and it's the only brand that they sell, but they were not helpful, giving minimal information about the different toilets, then scolding us for touching the toilets without gloves. I understand about people wanting to be hygienic but they should have signs to ask for gloves before touching, but then again, they make everyone wash their hands as soon as they enter, so gloves should not be required. Anyways, enough about them. I then drove to T. Oki and what a difference. The sales staff were so friendly and gave information and told me the difference between the different flushing mechanisms. My husband and I have been constructing our dream three tiered patio for over a year and we wanted a hot tub to be the center piece. When we met Bruce, we were really pleased with the quality of the hot tubs he had to offer. Finally when the big day came for the hot tub to be delivered, Darren (installer) was brilliant! I feared we were going to have to have the hot tub delivered by helicopter because of the slope of our back yard and many steps to the partially completed patio surface. I dealt with T. OKI TRADING a number of years ago as they were the distributor for Jacuzzi. I purchased a designer model Jacuzzi tub for my master bath in Hunter Green. Together with a pattern of green and white 4" ceramic tiles for the tub surround, the color scheme was in support of University of Hawaii athletics. I saved several hundred dollars from the price of the tub at Eagle Hardware. T. OKI has merged with MARBLEHAUS to form HAWAII HOME EXPO and moved into larger quarters a few blocks away in the airport-Mapunapuna industrial area. They have gone into the photovoltaic (PV) business, so it was natural to seek a bid from them. At first glance, they submitted a very competitive 32-panel system for $41,497 producing 942 kWh per month ($282.60/month savings). The power produced puts it on par with a number of systems priced $1000-4000 higher. But, a closer examination of their bid showed this to be classified as TWO systems, limiting the Hawaii energy tax credits to $10,000. The net cost after tax credits .is $19,048. Pay-back period through energy savings is projected to be five years, seven months. I inquired why this was just two systems because every other bid I got with 30-36 panels was pegged as THREE systems. In two cases, FIVE systems were claimed. Hawaii Home Expo said that to design and install it as THREE systems would incur added expenses. I requested that they re-do the bid for me to evaluate it. The revised bid is higher at $44,178, but uses a different PV module. It also consists of 32 panels and produces the same 942 kWh power output. With the extra $5000 tax credit, the net cost is lowered to $15,925, a decided advantage of $3123.. The pay-back period is four years, eight months. That's almost a full year less. It's obvious that the higher-priced system is the better buy when you consider the tax credits. What I question is why should it cost $2681 more to design it as three systems rather than two. It's the same number of modules and micro-inverters. I don't see the added wiring and one additional connection to the meter costing that much. They indicated $2060 for extra materials and $500 more for installation. Many of the other vendors matched their price or were lower by up to $4000 while matching or exceeding the power output. I suppose it's better to buy from Hawaii Home Expo than to deal with firms who would put you at risk with the tax department by claiming excessive tax credits. Then, you could really get in trouble. I just wish Hawaii Home Expo was a bit better-versed regarding the tax credit issue. It would certainly "up" their credibility. Maybe they might learn something from me. read more

This store has a great showroom for Toto toilets. Also great customer service and advice, as well as the best prices. They are not pushy at all here, they actually advise you to go home and make a few measurements because not all toilets fit all bathrooms, and they will give you their honest opinion on why even the nicest more expensive toilet may not be the one for you. I also needed several plumbing referrals because the plumbers they work with are so busy but every time I called and needed another name of a recommended plumber I only received prompt, courteous help even after the sale.
