This TJ Maxx has upped their game! Stopped in because I was in he area, and I was pleasantly surprised to find so many great items! As you enter, the purses and handbags are to the left. The cutest beaded summer bag with 2 lemons and bamboo handles caught my attention. Unlike some of the gaudier bags in this style, this particular bag was subtle, with just two lemons on a sand colored, beaded background. it's sophisticated and perfect for an upcoming trip to Italy in the fall, but no way I could wait until them I ripped the tags off in the parking lot and used it that night! My friends, the waitress, and another person at the restaurant complimented it! The bag is unique, stylish, and quite the "find" for $49. The clothing racks were full of many newer spring styles And I spent a lot of time in the dressing room trying on various outfits. So many of them worked, but I had to do a catch and release on a few because I have been buying a lot of clothes lately. I bought a beautiful white boho cropped spring sweater and a pair of wide legged pants, in a fun, beachy print, to go with. Found a two piece set in a light caramel color, perfect to wear in several seasons. The pants are fitted up top, but looser in the legs and paired perfectly with the crocheted knit top in the identical color. This outfit and the purse with lemons are definitely coming on my trip! Also bought a pretty pink athletic jacket and wore it immediately on my walk the next evening. The woman who was managing the dressing room was friendly and super helpful when I needed other sizes. It's such a pain to get dressed and go back out on the floor, so when she offered to bring me a different size, I was so grateful. My only complaint was they had a selection of maxi dresses hung on a low rack so all the bottoms were filthy. I'm not buying anything that is dirty and I'm unsure if it will wash clean. Definitely an area of improvement for the management. They didn't have as many food items as usual, and area I like to peruse for pantry items, but the housewares was completely stocked, as was the bedding and bath area. Lots of fabulous finds! Oh, and I guarded my cart because a friend told me that when she went to use the restroom, her cart went missing and she and the staff never found it. LOL. They have a lot of shelf space but it's mostly the same products from the smaller locations. The bag section feels slim. They do have plenty of home goods but not a lot as far as clothes, skincare, cosmetics, shoes. Fragrances are pretty affordable and they receive a great range from moderately priced to designer. I don't know if I will be going back. I would not recommend the restroom. I went in to use it but there were feces smeared all over the top of the toilet seat. I made the staff aware and they started laughing about how it's not even that much feces. read more

Terrible service, rude, uneducated about how to complete transactions. I purchased 5 items online and because TJ Maxx charges return label fees I returned the items that didn't work to the Jantzen Beach, Oregon Store #1405 and was treated like crap. Everything was pristine and still had the tags on but I was told I was supposed to keep the clear plastic wrap over the products in order to return them. I explained that in an email if I wanted to return something TJ Maxx that I only had to show them my shipping email that included a barcode which I did. After calling a manager and having the manager act like a complete jerk, did I get my refund again? This was only two days after I received the items and none of them had the tags off and they all were new. read more

It was organized, and I found some good things here. I like the fact that the line moves pretty quickly and checkout was very easy.

I walked out of that store furious. I had gone in looking for a skirt for a special occasion - on the very day I needed it. * First frustration: Skirts were hidden among pants. Ridiculous. After wasting far too much energy searching, I finally found one. * Relief: It fit me perfectly. I was thrilled, and for a moment I forgot the unpleasantness of the hunt. * Then the shock at checkout: At the register, the cashier treated me as if I worked there or owed her something. She told me the skirt was part of a set and demanded to know where the second item was. Seriously? How was I supposed to know? I explained that I had only found the skirt - it was the only piece on the rack. Her response? No second item, no purchase. So after all that effort, I was sent away empty-handed. I love TJ Maxx stores, but let's be honest, they're not all the same. I used to LOVE the store in Woodinville, WA. It was wonderful in every way! But the one in downtown Boston was just awful. The polar opposite. So I know there's a huge range of types of TJ Maxx stores. And this one is pretty darn good! I wasn't in the market to shop for clothes when I recently visited here, but I saw that they had a huge selection and variety of women's clothing. And if I WERE in the market to go clothes shopping, I'd have had fun here. (As with most TJ Maxx stores, they also have departments for mens' and kid's and baby clothes, but these are quite a bit smaller than the women's department. FYI). This particular store had a very large health and beauty/cosmetic section - way larger than most other TJ Maxx stores I've been too. Their jewelry section was much smaller, granted, but their women's accessory section was HUGE (i.e., hats, purses, belts, etc.). I was also impressed that this store had a very decent home accessories section, and more pet stuff than I've seen in other stores. My kid came here to get her high end branded shampoos and hair care products. She said they were half the cost for the same products elsewhere. Oh, and even though I wasn't looking for anything, I found a Sand and Fog candle with a lid with a painted picture of my beloved dog that passed away earlier this year. I had been looking for this candle with my dog for the past 3 years in every home store I've gone to and have seen every breed except mine. And when I wasn't looking, there it was, here at this TJ Maxx! I was so happy. You never know what you'll find here. read more

One of my go-to when here in the area . I really love them for the small knick-knacks that one needs and can be all available under one roof . From kitchen items to bath mats I have often found many good steals in this store. I also liked their storage options and really appreciate many baskets, boxes and jars that you can use for multiple things around the house . I rarely come here but it's always pleasant, and I always find pillows, bath towels, napkins, dish towels that help celebrate a season. It's easy to pick up random, surprise finds like Schmidt's deodorant for a bargain. What's not to like about that? Like giving expensive gifty-type soap to peeps? This is your store. Making artful gift baskets? This is your haven. Like fill-in-the-blank? It's probably here. And at half the price. I'm a fan of that! Today I picked up battery powered fairy lights to jazz up my patio trees and get me through Oregon's dark months until spring. Complete bargain! I haven't checked out the clothing, but there's a generous selection. If I wanted something new, it would be worth looking here. The store is clean. The service is welcoming and efficient. When COVID has finally packed its bags and moved on, I'll shop here more frequently. read more

First of all I come here EVERY week looking for skincare and home products. I've been coming for months and waited to leave a review. A couple of your associates are just...atrocious. One woman went to go pick up MY shoes while I was trying on a pair and she laughed at me when I was like Nono those are mine. She walked by a couple minutes later with another associate and snickered at me. Why are you laughing? This store has a HUGE theft problem and constant LP who can't do anything? I watched a guy walk out with a HUGE armload including luggage and items he was wearing on his body. And Gina/Tina R (couldn't see your full name)? You're a "coordinator" and you refuse to acknowledge me and stand directly in front of the skincare I came here specifically to look at without asking I need help, or budging. You stood there with your three giant gray bins and your black rolling stool and completely ignored me. I came back three times while shopping hoping you'd move...and you hadn't. Come on y'all. I used to work at TJMaxx back in college and this just isn't the vibe. You clearly don't care about me unlike that super nice short haired older woman who is super sweet regardless of the length of the line. She saved you a star, because she is consistently the best part about coming here every time. I wish I could stay away but I can't because TJMaxx really does offer a lot of great brands for low prices...just super bummed in some of your staff. read more

Yes, this place is open and yes, it has many items at good prices YET...shop at your own risk!! This store is by no means following State mandates for Covid-19. Employees are wearing masks below their noses, not saying anything to customers entering without masks. I was there in the afternoon of 4th of July. We spoke to the manager who said there is nothing they can do. He also said their company wasn't 'going that route'. What the heck? Other companies have no problem following the laws. I am immunodeficient and know of others who are too. If you don't care enough about your customer's safety and well-being, then you don't need my business! read more

This is the best TJ Maxx in Portland. Then again they always have different levels of "score-age" every time you go--and depending on your taste. First off I never buy clothes here--or haven't thus far... It's never really my style, Nordstrom Rack's workout pants are way higher quality, etc.. I don't see clothing as these type of stores strong suits, but everything else is! My last trip they had a lot of Sephora hand-me-downs. I scored a two pack of Lily lashes with a specially designed tweezer applicator for 10$. That easily would have been 40$+ at Sephora. I found a Pacifica roller ball perfume that came with hand lotion and a lip balm for 10$, these roller balls are 15$ alone at Ulta. I also found beautiful couch pillows on clearance for ~10$ each. That's a score since their pillows are usually around 20. You have to take your time and DIG here. Check tags. A lot is hiding and on clearance! read more

Just a bunch of Order Followers! Wow! So, I was in here on two separate occasions, on two different days during my journey to Jantzen Beach. The first time I went into TJ Maxx, I was casually browsing merchandise before I got 'paid.' That's it. Browsing. I swear, from literally seconds after I walked in, I was targeted. Simply, I sifted through some hats, searching for the most precise color, and fit. I tried on some hats via the mirror which was provided right next to the area. I have the right to try on a hat without buying one, no? At *least* three different times while I was trying on hats, a worker from the dressing room area came and *put something away* right by where I was standing. Um, okay? I know exactly what you are doing, and would rather you not be so passive aggressive. Why don't you flat out say, "how many hats do you plan on stealing?" Um, how about: zero hats. Shortly thereafter, I got fed up with being unnecesarily watched and left the store buying not a thing. The second time I entered into this TJ Maxx, I had purchased items from another store, and was carrying them in a bag. I was far away from my vehicle, so kept the bags with. Last I checked, it was perfectly acceptable to walk around with bags from store to store. I browsed for a few minutes. The main deterrent this time was noise pollution from screaming children who were literally rolling around on the floor in the store!!! Well, my bag was thin and the weather was kind of cold and windy. I stood in line to obtain a larger bag for my items. The woman who was checking me out looked not even 20 years of age. I asked her politely for a bag, and offered to pay. She was hesitant and asked, "what size." I chose a bag and as I was leaving the girl (yes girl) implied that I had stolen the jacket I was carrying. Well, it was a bit hot out, so I was holding my OWN jacket. Just before I left, she glared at me, and said, "Is that.... (pause - mega stare) yours? Speechless - um... wow! I insured the girl that yes, the jacket is mine. But, I did not feel obliged to get items out of my pocket to confirm. I was really taken aback by this girl inferring I had stolen my own jacket. Sorry, honey, but I cannot pay for my own jacket - it's already paid for! I didn't like the store, overall, for this very reason. One cannot 'just browse' nor meander while a spouse is shopping elsewhere. Anyone walking in (and then out) without making a purchase is looked at in a suspicious manner. Anyone who brings in bags from another store (perhaps using the bus, anyone? staying in a nearby hotel), is looked at in a suspicious manner. Sometimes no news is good news! I didn't find anything, I didn't 'steal' anything, etiher. I just existed in the store, and then exited. That's perfectly legal and healthy (not to be a shopahollic). Felt too paranoid to go in ever again even for something small such as socks. Really 'on watch' employees ALL OVER THE STORE. Really, get over yourselves. It's rude to 'spy' when your 'target' has no ill intent. Anyone with half a brain will catch on and think you're the stupid one for following orders that violate people's dignity. read more

Stop sizing me up girlfriend. Hubbs and I ran in to grab a dog toy for puppy and immediately I was sized up by the gal who was "fixing" clothing in the front. This location specifically is known for theft, but that doesn't mean you have to look at me like I am a criminal 30 seconds after I enter into your store. There was no "Hi, Hello, Welcome, Howdy" nothing. Which is SUPER rude. Regardless, we found a toy stood inline paid and left. We will not return to this location. read more

So much to choose from. I was offered help three times in three different aisles. I was just browsing but ended up with about 15 items. And I only spent $58 for all my items!! There was still some Christmas clearance, and some great items. I picked up some Kate Spade cocktail napkins, bottle stoppers, trinket plates, a laptop case, lint remover, gift bags, and so much more! There was some other things I wanted too but I didn't pick them up because I'm traveling. I'm sorry that others didn't have a great experience. I feel otherwise. Or perhaps they've improved their customer service. I read the other comments and feel bad they have such a low rating based off two reviews. I am very thankful there is a TJ Maxx in this location and I'm so thankful that their prices are great. So much value!! read more

I can't believe I'm gonna give TJ Maxx only 2 stars. Heaven for fend! But honestly, it is because of my historic love of TJs that I can say "Meh, I've experienced better". TJ maxxes are not what they used to be. They are also even less on the west coast. My mother is an efficianado and explained that certain stores are flagship stores and get the best stuff. The richer towns oft fare better in the Boston area. So, I'll have to make an effort to compare on to the other in future for my loyal readers, but for the most part - I'm not all that excited to even start! read more
