I remember visiting North Carolina and going to Gabe's. I love that it's a discounted bargain store. We pulled up and there's plenty of parking. This store is - odd.. they do carry a wide variety of lightweight home furnishings and decor, seasonal items, beauty, clothing, shoes, housewares, toys, gourmet food items, accessories, and baby stuff.. but it's so disorganized.. it's nearly impossible to look for anything.. it's like if Dollar General and TJ Maxx had a baby- it could be Gabe's.. They occasionally have a few items of interest, yet the displays are awful) yet better than than in comparison to the day they first opened)........but it's always a bit of a eyesore.. it always seems as if the manager needs to straighten the place up.. it is chaos!! Or vest are hit or miss/ sometimes low, occasionally off the mark.. I've seen carhart jackets and j crew pants for decent prices and yet I've looked at tankless candles pretty cedar as much as the original retailer and cheap looking sesdinal decor I can buy at dollar tree at an 1/8th the price.. If you want to go bargain hunting, be prepared to look around awhile- and bring hand sanitizer.. and don't be disappointed that toy couldn't find much because of the disorganized clutter!! Don't bother requesting help from an associate- even if you can spot one.. they do their best to ignore customers..

The same exact products in different spots with contradictory price information. Best example (one of many) is the shirt in the picture. Is it $12.99 each, or $40 bogo-half-off? Only reason the score isn't lower is because other departments I passed through looked better.

A newly upgraded JCP!…read more I like the upgrades, including the remodeling effort and the mix of higher end diffusion lines (MNG, Liz Claiborne, etc) with old stalwart JcPenney brand staples, like St. John's Bay, etc. The prices are still good and they always offer plenty of discounts. Some of my best "cheap chic" purchases have come from here off the clearance racks in the clothing and jewelry sections. With one of the those $10 off a $10 or more purchase, I snagged a necklace for free- well, almost free as I just paid the tax. That happens more than you would think. Another time, I picked up some nice flannel sheets for my queen size bed on clearance (75% off) for only $9 after the the coupon. See, dreams do come true. I think the housewares department located upstairs is really nice as well, especially with the new Jonathan Adler home decor line. I love that stuff. Its' fun and whimsical style meets affordable chic. This store, like other JCP stores, has a Sephora as well, although it's not as well-run as I would like it to be, but I'm glad they have one. This store is always clean and the displays are always neat and tidy. Customer service is hit or miss, but that's pretty much my only complaint.

On April 8th, I received an email stating that one of my items was out of stock. I also received an email stating that my remaining item was shipped that day. However, I was not provided with a tracking number which is customary. Today, April 17th I contacted Avenue to find out the status of my order. I was told it was delivered on April 12th by FedEx. I take care of my I'll elderly mother. The only time we leave is for her medical appointment. I was there the entire day. Obviously, I never received it. I was told it was not their fault that it wasn't delivered, and that it will take up to ten business days to contact FedEx to figure out what happened. So even though I ordered the item more than 3 weeks in advance, I very likely won't have the clothing I ordered for vacation. I am beyond angry regarding their response. The only reason I'm giving Avenue 2 stars is because my past order was delivered successfully.
