H & M

H & M

Pretty typical H&M, perhaps a bit more organized than some I've patronized in the past…read more This is a brand-new store, which most assuredly is the primary reason it's so darn organized and looks so polished. It's still shiny and new! Nonetheless, it's a nice store, typical for H&M, with attractive displays and carefully designed "sale areas," etc. I was pretty excited to see this place finally open. Alas, it seemed like construction took forever, as in months behind the schedule! I don't get what the holdup was, but the final product looks pretty great. Indeed, this is actually a pretty large H&M in comparison to some, which is great because they have so much to offer. I was impressed by how well this place was run upon my initial shopping visit here, but I hope the service and cleanliness don't go by the wayside after it's operational for awhile. At least, that's what I've noticed at other H&M retail locations I've shopped in before. This one had a really nice layout and better than average selection, including on the men's side of the store (my husband was pretty happy about that). That isn't always the case. At any rate, there were no clothes jumbled together or displays in disarray or items that looked trampled on (something I've seen before at the H&M in Novi). The service was pretty good, with friendly (though not particularly "super friendly") salespeople. The clearance section, while this is a new store, seemed rather well thought-out, too. If you want inexpensive, on-trend "throwaway" fashion, I would have to say this is the best place in town. I found multiple cute sweaters for $10 and most items were $20 at the most- honestly.

Macy's Backstage

Really love the Backstage section of our local Macy's…read more... I know not every Macy's has a Backstage section, so we're particularly happy our local one has it. My husband and I shop in Macy's a lot, and we've been shopping quite a bit lately in this particular corner of the store. It has everything from clothing (men's, women's, babies and kid's), perfume, jewelry and handbags to kid's toys, decor, candy, cosmetics, skincare, men's grooming, luggage, housewares and phone accessories and giftware.. and the prices are great. I like that the same store return policy and credit, Macy's points and star rewards still work (as they do in the regular Macy's.. The selection is great/ and clearance prices are crazy. I picked up some Aldo shoes for next to nothing and my husband and I picked up new Karl Lagerfeld luggage here this past spring that was cute and low priced..they also sell Kate Spade, Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs and Karl Lagerfeld handbags on occasion.... I just stopped in and did a lot of early Christmas shopping here. It was quick and simple- good selection. low prices, and terrific service.

The backstage area is great. As my wife and I say, this is like the maxx and Macy's thrown together…read moreon overload. I'm glad we have this discount paradise (like the maxx) inside one section of the local Macy's. So much good stuff, like to maxx and Ross, it's a store you must ship in every so often because stock is varied. We bought great Karl Lagerfeld luggage here, which I was happy to find. My wife scored a pair of Aldo stiletto shoes here for $7. Oh, and your Macy's star rewards points do count on credit card purchases to get star rewards Macy's money back ($10 per x $$$ on your Macy's card). They have everything here- clothes, furniture, housewares, beauty products, decor, techie stuff, shoes, kids stuff, art, toys, candy, handbags., jewelry, giftware, men's grooming supplies.

Came to buy a dress shirt or two, but instead left frustrated without buying anything. Very little…read moretraffic, but no associates assisting or straightening out in this department. The same exact products in different spots with contradictory price information. Best example (one of many) is the shirt in the picture. Is it $12.99 each, or $40 bogo-half-off? Only reason the score isn't lower is because other departments I passed through looked better.

A newly upgraded JCP!…read more I like the upgrades, including the remodeling effort and the mix of higher end diffusion lines (MNG, Liz Claiborne, etc) with old stalwart JcPenney brand staples, like St. John's Bay, etc. The prices are still good and they always offer plenty of discounts. Some of my best "cheap chic" purchases have come from here off the clearance racks in the clothing and jewelry sections. With one of the those $10 off a $10 or more purchase, I snagged a necklace for free- well, almost free as I just paid the tax. That happens more than you would think. Another time, I picked up some nice flannel sheets for my queen size bed on clearance (75% off) for only $9 after the the coupon. See, dreams do come true. I think the housewares department located upstairs is really nice as well, especially with the new Jonathan Adler home decor line. I love that stuff. Its' fun and whimsical style meets affordable chic. This store, like other JCP stores, has a Sephora as well, although it's not as well-run as I would like it to be, but I'm glad they have one. This store is always clean and the displays are always neat and tidy. Customer service is hit or miss, but that's pretty much my only complaint.
