    Moldy cake

Worst ever. I bought red velvet cake at 5pm on Saturday Nov. 30th. Came straight to the birthday party. Everyone said the cake tasted bad. We flipped the cake over and there's MOLD everywhere. Ruined the birthday. What a horrible business.

This shop makes the best Hamantaschen in town. I especially love the apricot filling. The pastries are tempting and taste homemade. T&Y Bakery is a nice option at the Farmer's Market.

They had a nice selection of European style pastries that my husband and I had no come across since leaving Germany two years ago. At the end of the day they bag up two items for $2 so we went with blueberry cream cheese pastries, cinnamon rolls and elephant ears, $6 for 6 items and validated parking, not bad! Unfortunatly, the desserts were a bit lacking. My fault for being cheap, the good looking stuff wasn't on sale and I bet much better. Everything was stale, dry, too yeasty, not disgusting, just past its prime and not the best of their selection. Service was great and I would be back to get some other goods next time.

Day Old Basket. 2 pastries $2. Yum yum.

Their day old basket is my new favorite stop at the Farmers Market. Almost fresh pastries are _$1 ea sold in bags of two. Cinnamon rolls, croissants etc. BIG bARGAIN. The rest of their display looks amazing too.

There are gray spots under the frosting. Not sure if it's mold or from the last desert they pulled it off to recycle.

Stopped and ordered a piece of red velvet cake for my wife. On first glance it looked pretty good but upon taking the first bite I quickly realize my mistake. The cake taste like it was made weeks ago. It's dense and almost slimy. Completely disgusting. My wife has the same reaction so I know it's not just me. After looking at the frosting on top my wife pulls part of it off and it has gray spots underneath it. I'm not sure if it's mold or if they scraped it off something else that went bad and reused it. I can't think of any reason it should be gray.... Even as I'm typing this I'm trying not to gag with how gross that first tiny bite was! Do not eat here!!

They have really good cakes. Tiramisù with coconut and blackforest are my favorite.

    Peanut Butter Cookie...Just Okay.

I should have read one of my Yelp bud's reviews about T & Y Bakery before purchasing one of their cookies here. Strolling through the Farmer's Market, one cookie caught my eye and of course, it's their peanut butter one. A huge peanut butter cookie priced at only a buck??? The cookie looked good and it was calling my name. I couldn't resist and bought one of these bad boys. Take that literally. It was bad. My peanut butter cookie was dry as heck and tasted more like a sugar cookie. I gave a piece to fellow Yelper, Ty W, and he even agreed that this cookie needed some help. Overall, I am still giving T & Y 3 stars since my cookie was dirt cheap, there's a selection of other baked goods, and the employees were pleasant. But take my advice, stay away from the sugar cookie posing as a peanut butter one.

    Right Stand with Cannollis
    Sujee K.

At first, I was thrilled to find that somewhere sold cannollis (after watching Cake Boss, I was in desperate need of one). So I knew Farmer's market has an array of bakeries, so after searching for a bakery that had cannollis I found T & Y bakery. I bought a cannolli ($3.49) and a Florentine special ($3.99). I was a bit shocked to find these treats to be so expensive, but then again, everything at the FM is expensive. I wasn't able to eat them right away, since I had a fairly large meal at some restaurants in FM. Here are my reviews: Cannolli: At first I thought it was FABULOUS! but then I realized that the shell was a bit soggy, and the cream a bit too sweet. Still good, but don't know if it was $3.50 worth good. Florentine Special: SOOO good.... at first bite... but it did taste a bit old... it definitely didn't taste, or had the texture of being freshly made. The filling is very whip cream like, but still delicious. The outside shell would be perfect if it was crispy. Not $4 worth. At first I would've given them a 5 stars.... but after reading others' reviews, I agree with them and deducted a couple of stars: minus 1 star for poor service... they definitely were not friendly nor did they seem interested in me. minus another star for their lack of freshness. If I'm paying $3-$4 per item, I would at least expect them to be fresh. not here. I would still purchase their food, if I was desperate.

The menu is tight and focused, but they do what they do well. Cookies are thick, clearly baked fresh, with that gooey center and crisp edge when they hit right. The space is well thought out. Branding is clean and cohesive, nothing feels random. The outdoor setup is a plus--plenty of chairs to sit, decompress, and people-watch for a bit instead of awkwardly hovering on the sidewalk. Also appreciated: they hand out napkins and utensils without you needing to ask, which you absolutely need with cookies like these. Where it falls short is consistency on warming. If you ask for it heated, expect a bit of a wait--and even then it can come out uneven, warm on the outside but still cold in the middle. Service can feel a little unfocused at times, which probably contributes to that. Still, it's a solid stop for a quality cookie, especially if you're already in the area. Just go in knowing it's better when you catch them on a good moment.

Afterwards, we sat at the store to try the danish since we were hungry. Have to say it measures up to another one of my favorite patisseries that is located in Del Mar called Clemente. I got a sausage bbang, a chocopie, and a dalgona latte. The sausage bbang was soggy on the bottom and honestly tasted like it was from the day before. The chocopie barely had any filling, just a thin layer of marshmallow and jam. It honestly felt like they used most of the marshmallow for their Dubai choco cookie because it's probably more profitable, instead of properly filling the chocopie. If that's the case, it's better not to sell it at all than serve something like that. The dalgona latte was also disappointing. With ice, the drink only filled to the bottom third line of the cup marking. Clearly, they skimped on the milk. There was also a weird moment when I paid.
