Many weather-resistant circular tables and lime green folding chairs are set up along the concrete between vendors. Bob's is located within the East Patio, on the Grove side of the Market. The ruby all-caps lettering pops against the narrow stall's coin-gray faux-shingled facade. The bright red signage and distinct aroma of fried dough stick out among Bob's more austere neighboring stands. Within the stand, the walls are lined with trays upon trays of doughnuts. My partner and I arrived mid-morning on a weekday. We faced a minimal queue, and the frill-free service was appropriately quick. I opted for Bob's famous oversized Cinnamon Roll. The large, fluffy pastry was well-iced outside, but the interior had only a modest cinnamon schmear -- the complete product was a rung higher than average, but nothing particularly memorable. The cinnamon roll set me back $3.50 -- a price that would feel excessive, except that the bill came with parking validation. Came here on the recommendation of some Reddit posts. Most were good reviews on their doughnut! To baseline, my favourite doughnut is a sour cream glazed doughnut. I like the sweet glaze on the outside, slight crunch from a good fry, nice fluffy moist dense interior. Original glazed raised doughnuts - This one unfortunately felt a bit old/not fresh. The inside was dry but fluffy and the exterior was not crunchy. The glaze was really good as it was slightly caramelized giving it a slight bitter note. Apple fritter - Another Reddit recommends. This one hit the spot! Nice crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. Apple gIves a pleasant fruitiness as well. There was a remodel of their space at Farmers Market in November 2025, including new display case, new baking equipment, and apparently new employees. This is the first time in 50 years I need to say Bob's needs a new baker. I took my mom and wife to Bob's for the new Orleans beignet. Today, I ordered 6 of them with coffee and tea when my wife and mom bite into the beignet and said something is different with them. We spent a while trying to figure it out. I walked back and told the lady the issue. She offered other types of donuts, and there was still something different. Later on, I am going to have my kids taste them and ask them what they think. Been going here for some years now and while being a local in LA (not in this neighborhood), I still keep coming back. The donuts are exactly how it should be made with the perfect amount of "airy"-ness to it and the ice blended mocha drink is my favorite! There's coffee and mocha in this and it's great. I have yet to see another place have something similar. While there's so many great donuts, my favorite go-to is their sugar one. Every server is nice and it is easy to order and pay. As with any place at the farmer's market, order and grab a seat anywhere. Still just as busy and still a great staple here. read more

I hate to give Bob's Coffee only 4 stars since it's an LA institution, and you really should come and visit this place even if it's just for that reason, but best coffee it is not. It has good strong coffee that will keep you up and get you through your workday for sure. So it's the best in that way. And you will consistently get the same type of coffee no matter when you come too. The doughnut is not cheap and not exceptional either. But it's tradition! Parking is available on the streets surrounding Farmer's Market and the parking structures here... but good luck finding an empty spot on the street. I was passing by and was debating on if I should get them when I saw that each donut was $2.95 each. The employee working there said he didn't know how great they were until he started working there, and said they stay fresh even after 2 days. Because he raved on about how great their donuts are, I decided to try the blueberry cake and raspberry filled donuts. They ran out of their beignets so that was a bummer. The employee did a good job of marketing the donuts, but I find that the donuts here are average, and nothing about them stood out. The raspberry one had the dough that tasted like a beignet, and was chock full of raspberry filling, which was pretty good. The blueberry cake was not bad, but I've had better ones. It was nice to try this place, but I'll have to say that there are better donut shops out there that are less expensive. I had some time to kill before catching a movie at the New Beverly, so I decided to explore the nearby Grove. Lo and behold, I was walking around and Bob's appeared right before by very eyes. Bob's is actually located in the Farmer's Market, which lies adjacent to the Grove; no worries though because they're contiguous, so if you're at one you can easily walk to the other. Like many of the places in the market, Bob's is a walk-up stand. The facade is welcoming with red lettering in vintage font and wooden shingles. The menu is simple - a variety of doughnuts, some coffee cakes, coffee, and a few other beverages. Since it was our first time there, we opted for a classic glazed and some iced teas because I had a big thirst. The stand has a kitschy old school vibe, offering a variety of classic flavors and drip coffee. Unfortunately, the donuts are not good, and neither is the coffee. Of the 6 flavors I purchased, I only enjoyed one-the adorable pink dinosaur. The icing tasted like American buttercream, and managed to mask the dry donut base. The other flavors ranged from mediocre to inedible. Dense, dry, and low quality, they all somehow tasted stale. The beignet was dense and chewy, and the jelly filled contained corn starchy artificial fruit gloop. The cake donuts were dry and mealy. The drip coffee was watery, but drinkable. Despite my cheerful disposition and efforts to be friendly, the staff were cold. With so many amazing donut shops in Los Angeles, there is no reason to come here. read more

Here is a text book example of how an incredible business with the best donuts in town is sliding downward. First, they eliminated the coffee carafes. They made some of the best donuts seasonal-ok. The coffee quality is still good and they now accept cards. But the worst is that the quality of the product is not even as good as Winchell's or Randy's. The apple fritters were always on the small side but they were crisp and so so good. Now they are much bigger with no substance , or apple bits, or crispy edges. The bear claws and long John's are all fluff. The chocolate chocolate donuts are considered seasonal and the help is terrible. They know nothing of the legacy that was Bobs donuts. Everything was amazing here for decades. Why change a winning formula? No doubt they'll get tourists who will buy donuts with no regard for the quality, but for those of us who know what Bobs was, it's a huge disappointment.
