Literally the best waffle I've ever had. I was advised that it would and it truly delivered! The waffle was a perfect balance of crunch and texture. It was filling but not too overly done. Every bite had a crunch and I had to eat it slow to truly savor every bite. I can't wait to visit again! I drive past Shaky Alibi a couple times a week and was always intrigued by the big sign "Voted America's #1 Waffle" which has been hanging for at least 7+ years. My husband and I finally decided to give it a try one weekend. We sat outside and waited a while before someone brought us a menu (even though they told us they would be right with us). Once we finally got the menu they took a while to then come back and take our order. As for the food, I felt the waffles were small especially for their price and the berry topping was really just jam, not exactly what I was looking for. Over the weekend, we were on the Westside when we passed by Shaky Alibi and noticed a huge banner claiming "Best Waffles in America." Miori mentioned that there's usually a line to get in, but when we passed by this time--no line in sight. That was all the encouragement we needed. We found street parking nearby and fed the meter for an hour. Walked over and were greeted and seated right away. The place had a few other tables filled but wasn't packed, which made for a chill and comfortable atmosphere. Brendon was our server and he was kind, attentive, and made us feel welcome the entire time. We started with water and coffee, then took a look at the menu. Miori went with the savory Liege waffle with smoked bacon and smoked gouda, and I had the traditional Liege waffle with strawberries, plus a side of scrambled eggs. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and plated nicely. The waffles live up to the hype--crispy on the outside, soft and rich on the inside. The bill came out to $51.54, which felt reasonable for the quality of food, service, and location. We left full and happy, and already talking about what we'd try next time. My sister, nephew and I stopped in for breakfast before heading to the airport. The restaurant is super cute inside and I love the vibe of the neighborhood. The staff is very friendly. I had the sausage and gouda waffle. It was good. The only reason I'm not giving Shaky Alibi 5 stars is because there was a small piece of shell in my waffle. It was a little disturbing for me. I would be open to trying Shaky Alibi agin when I'm in LA. read more

Overall just underwhelming! Both me and my friend tried savory waffles. They were still very much on the sweet side which was off putting. A touch of sweet would be understandable but there were what seemed to be large pieces of rock sugar in their batter that really ruined the flavors of the savory toppings. Great little spot on the corner of Beverly and Martel. I've been driving by this place for years, stopping for the first time today. The waffles were good. I had the Big Blue. This place has the triangle of excellence in food, its service and its chill ambiance. I'd been meaning to come here for quite some time given their sign which says "Best waffles in America". I haven't tried enough in the county to comment there but I do say that they've got the best waffles in Los Angeles by far. We tried a savory waffle with turkey and Swiss, it was mouthgasms all the way, so too was the strawberry and as I write this I'm waiting for a waffle with a poached again on top. I've had this place on my list of to-visits for a few years. I thought a big banner saying you have the best waffles was a pretty bold move; either they really do or you're gonna get suckered. The opportunity finally came about to try a new brunch spot so I checked my list and we decided to go here. I didn't realize their claim to fame were these savory waffles. Listen, I'm not a sweet + savory girly, I prefer em separate. But the host sold me and I tried an edited version of the savory waffle with just one layer of cheese - cheddar was recommended, and a poached soft egg. Holy wow! Shaky Alibi. Shakier service. Took over 25 minutes to receive my order. Poor barista was left to fend for herself while being overwhelmed by multiple orders . An older gentleman (could have been a worker, could have been the owner) sat by prepping the dough instead of temporarily jumping in. He didn't give a tittle though. Even if prepping dough is essential for day to day operations, he definitely had a couple spare couple of minutes to assure the morning rush goes smoothly read more

TLDR: I don't have enough experience to say these are the best waffles in the world, but these were pretty damn good! Come try these famous waffles! My partner and I saw the advertisement outside of this restaurant stating they had best/#1 waffles in the world, so we had to try them! When you walk in, we were told to find a seat. We got serviced super fast once sat, and our waiter was very kind! Food only took about 15 minutes to come on a Saturday afternoon. The waffles were delicious!! Don't be fooled by its hardness when cutting, as when you take a bite the texture is just right and as crunchy as waffles should be. Not to mention, the drinks were tasty as well! Their waffles really are delicious. They don't even need syrup because there are like climbs of crystallized sugar on them plus the powder sugar. It's a little pricey but I don't mind supporting small businesses with delicious food and a nice staff. We tried the regular waffle with strawberries and whipped cream - tasty and fresh. Nice spot for brunch. Not many options and I wouldn't say best waffles in America. They are traditional Belgian waffles very thick more like a cake. The drinks are amazing. We got the iced lavender pistachio chi tea latte and regular chi. They did not disappoint. I would come back here just for iced lavender tea. We got a traditional waffle with strawberries and a savory waffle with smoked Gouda and bacon. Both tasted delicious. Def worth a try if you love Belgian waffles. The service was great. I went with the Breakfast Sandwich and added Truffle Parmesan Fries, my wife ordered the Classic Eggs Benedict with potatoes, and we got a waffle with whipped cream and fresh fruit for our son. Everything hit. My breakfast sandwich was incredible--the bun was soft, the ingredients were well-balanced, and the chipotle aioli really took it to another level. The Eggs Benedict was cooked perfectly, and the hollandaise had a rich, flavorful finish. The waffle had that ideal texture: slightly crisp on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. We enjoyed the food so much that there was barely anything left to take home. On top of that, the staff was warm and welcoming, which made the experience even better. The only downside is parking--since there's no dedicated lot, finding street parking can take a bit of patience. Overall, we'll definitely be back to work our way through more of the menu.

I have tried a few different things here, but this past order I got the Spicy Chicken Sandwich and added avocado and honestly really liked it. The ciabatta bread was crispy and the the chicken was perfectly spicy and I just really enjoyed it. The dressing on the side salad was also terrific. I would recommend if you are in the area.

While my wife likely already knew this, I was constantly on the look for little cafes and roasteries that we could try each morning. Although that didn't happen every day, one afternoon we were in need of some caffeine and stumbled along Fika Fika and I am so happy that we did. One of my two favorite places that we stopped for coffee while on our trip, this place is deceivingly large inside, and all decorated in ceramic earth tones and white. It's actually a very calming feeling, almost like a deep breath in. The only thing that was a little bit annoying was there was no parking and street spaces were the only option. However, that seemed to be a trench of several of the areas we visited, and coming from Philly, I totally understand that obstacle of difficulty and would never hold it against them. Especially once you discover how delicious the coffee is after getting inside. When we were there it was nearly dead, which was a nice respite from the day, as we were all pretty worn out from the morning. So it provided a nice break in a quiet space where we could also get a nice hot or iced drink and stop for a few minutes. Their espresso was delicious, not overly robust and burnt as so many American-palate-focused espressos are apt to be, and felt much more after a European or Italian style of pulled shot. My cappuccino was excellent, and they even poured the shots in macchiato style over top to give that bit of different flavor profile and drinking experience. I was so impressed, I even picked up some bagged, roasted coffee for friends to gift when we arrived home, and some for myself, which I enjoyed thoroughly for a week or two after our trip had come to its conclusion. If you are in LA or passing through and need good coffee, Fika Fika should definitely be on your list of "definitely stop" places. Their mochi paws were okay, but that's not why I was there. I was there for the coffee and that's exactly what they deliver in spades. Delicious. Perfectly outed and crafted. Coffee!
