TLDR: Wildly Creative, Certified Fresh, but all that glitters is not gold. My coworker walked in this these pretty patties of assorted donuts in the morning. Quality: 5/5 - They are definitely made to order because they were still warm when we started eating them! How incredible! They were light and a little more of a east coast donut but still with enough pockets in the inside to not feel like it was too heavy to eat. Creativity: 5/5 - If you don't know what you ordered you'll need a legend to see what you're eating. If anything I'd add that as a suggestion to include inside a takeaway box. Each donut was unique in style, decoration, and flavor I was blown away. Taste: 4/5 - The only thing that's knocking off a star for me is the actual taste of them. Despite the various flavors they were all pretty sweet in my opinion. I probably would not do more than 2 full ones. Truthfully, none of them wowed me. I know, I tried to find it too. And some of them were just too out of this box for me like Yuzu? But that is definitely someones jam. I'm not sure what the price is but if you're willing to not just show up with a box of pink donuts and get some attention, I'd recommend it. I'd just say throw a few "regular" ones in there in case you have a picky eater.
I stopped into Holey Grail today specifically to try the Cosmic Churro donut. This donut is where cinnamon, vanilla bean, and sugar are all rolled into one delicious donut! There are other flavors that are outside the box, carefully crafted treats as well. The Rick Martinez donut has raspberry, dragon fruit, coconut, and dulce de leche. Choices like the Original Sin are more up my alley: real maple, Hawaiian vanilla bean, and sea salt make up this beauty. If you are more adventurous try the Hail Mary with cardamom and sea salt. This month's special is the Wild Guava with local bee pollen and edible flowers. My donut was $4.50 and a bit on the small side, but I really loved it! Service was very friendly (typical of Larchmont businesses) and the store is very clean and bright. Donuts are made fresh to order too!
These donuts were good, and I love that they're made fresh, but the texture is a little bit more...spongy than I personally like in a donut. I love their flavor options, but I think I would like them better if they were a little crisper on the outside for the texture contrast.
Delicious donuts. If you're into unique tropical flavors this is the spot for you. I tried their pandan donut and their tropical donut. Both are delicious. Not overly sweet at all. I initially bought the pandan donut and the staff was kind enough to gift me the tropical donut. She even gave our pug a little pet donut treat too. We absolutely appreciate her kindness. Definitely stopping by next time to try out their classic flavors!
This shop in Larchmont Village makes your donuts fresh to order. Even as someone who never craves donuts, they are melt in your mouth wonderful. The donuts and coffee here are Hawaiian-influenced. We tried the Original Sin, the Chocolate Crunch, and the Chaga Chai. They were all good but the Original Sin one was the best. The Chaga Chai had a very unique cinnamon/chai thing going on. Don't sleep on the coffee here, either. They are expensive but outstanding. I never, ever crave donuts but these were very, very good.
They make the donuts for you fresh here and it's made with care and love. This place doesn't have any seating inside but there was always traffic coming in and out while waiting for my donut. At first, I was like, wtf $4 for one donut but man is it worth it. The worker was friendly, patient and sweet. Gave me recs and knew how to help me choose flavors I wanted. The donuts and items are inspired by Hawaii because the owners apparently lived in Kauai. You can't go wrong with any of the flavors. They also have some souvenirs to buy, such as holy grail hats, clothing, Hawaiian chocolates, etc. Parking is easy to find in the streets or in the neighborhood nearby. Highly recommend and I will be coming back!
The best donuts I've ever had! They don't sell pre-made donuts here. Instead, they fry them fresh to order, so you get to taste piping hot donuts straight out of the fryer. Just imagine how delicious that must be! They're not overly sweet, and the size is just right. I'd love to eat them every day, but I'll have to limit my visits... just to avoid gaining too much weight... lol.

These ube based donuts were exquisitely soft and fluffy, with just the right amount of sweetness to balance the cardamom spice. They were also beautiful to look at, with dried rose petals adorning each donut. My friend mentioned the space is super tiny and almost always busy because they're a favorite in Hollywood.

The donuts are fresh and delicious, and you can even watch them being made, which is really cool. I didn't catch the guy's name, but he was super friendly and took his time crafting each donut--he's like an artist, carefully applying the glaze and toppings before placing them in a sleek black box. I tried the Hot Peach, Original Sin, and Hot Single. All were amazing, but the Original Sin gets a slight edge for me. Overall, it was a fantastic experience. There's street parking and paid lots nearby. I highly recommend checking this place out!
Why does this location show as permanently closed. I was just there a couple weeks ago. Their donuts were so good so it's a bummer if they closed. Black Sabbath and purple haze were amazing. Melts in your mouth kind of good, delicious flavors. I see they have other locations so I will definitely get their donuts again. Cute spot. Service was super friendly and quick.

This is my new "thing" Very hot. Super fresh and they have a crunch on the outside. These are not the dreaded "cake donuts" I was expecting. Loved the passion fruit and liked the rose. As long as they continue to uplift and source from the Hawaiian community of origin - I'll pay the $4-5 per. There's always more work to do and I'll be back. read more

I walked past a donut shop boldly calling itself Holey Grail -- cute, right? I always chuckled at the name but never dared to investigate... until today. Armed with an empty stomach and low expectations (because, let's be real, most "artisan" donuts are just overpriced circles with lavender dust), I stepped inside. And BABY -- I was not ready. First shocker: these donuts are made fresh to order. Like, frying right in front of me, frosting still warm, and my taste buds pre-sobbing in anticipation. I've had this place bookmarked for a while because of the strawberry shortcake doughnuts!! Thank goodness I made it just in time until they changed the flavor. The flavor itself was on the lighter side. I guess I was expecting a burst of strawberry shortcake when I bit into it. Heavenly! though on the smaller side. And there's nothing that gets my wallet out faster than donuts made to order. I was hoping there would be a old-fashioned type donut, crackly yet airy, something with oomph, in LA, and I think I found it. You actually can't taste the taro at all, even a mere nuttiness, but the flour probably gives it a boosted chew. The flavors on the menu seem balanced and unique and I can't wait to try more. read more

Oh my. I feel like a queen opening this $4 gem. Yes your donut is a cup of coffee for you sweet lovers. Coffee or donut? How about both!? The royalty can get anything! This is a beautiful small piece of work: fresh and warm, and so nicely coated with all the sugar. And it's about three bites and you're done. Definitely recommend using a fork so you wouldn't spill all over your clothes. I can see how the price is hyped up not just because of the area but because of the quality of it. If you are going to indulge some, you might as well praise the universe and hit the holey grail, because that will be what you'll be shouting after you finish at three bites... Holy S**! That was Goooood!! Extremely friendly service and very welcoming and warm just like the donuts. read more

Stopped here to get some freshly baked doughnuts. We originally tried this place in Hawaii and the women in the family loved it. Sister was visiting LA and we tried this location. Staff were friendly, doughnuts were fresh and hot I enjoyed the hot doughnut, although doughnuts aren't my thing, but my sister said she enjoyed the ones in Hawaii better. Hands down, best doughnuts on the planet. I can't even think of a suitable runner up. Clean, streamlined shop with the sweetest and most kind personnel. And the smell of MADE TO ORDER DOUGHNUTS perfumes the air. Four bucks for a hand made doughnut? All day long. We had to try the Mission Hot Chocolate- great play of flavors. The chili lingered nicely and the toasted marshmallow was adorable (and tasty). But the Original Sin stole the show. Crispy exterior , fluffy interior with a nice chew, the glaze just tickles the tastebuds. Reminds me of French toast. We could have eaten a dozen of these without stopping. Yes, these donuts are the size of an average palm of a hand. Yes, they are $4+. Yes, they are honestly delicious and warm because they are made to order. I am 95% refined sugar free as of Jan '23 so I do ask a lot of q's to see what sweet spots align with this lifestyle. They confined the dough has brown sugar and taro (so gluten free!), however, the dips are mainly made with honey, maple syrup and i can't recall what else she said but that was a GO for me. We tried the spotlight flavor that mentioned Karrueche Tran, which was the Strawberry shortcake. Also the Miso Honey, which was salty and sweet. I love these donuts. But the fact these donuts are also made with taro root and come in flavors like guava, passionfruit, and cardamom rose just takes it over the top and then some. We love this plant-based donut spot that fries with coconut oil and changes their menu up a little every Thursday to reflect seasonality. They also serve up delicious coffee drinks made with macadamia nut milk and nitro coffees. The ambiance is groovy, reflecting their origin in Hawaii, and the service is always friendly. There is always a wait from when you order to when you receive your donuts because again every single order is made fresh just for you! read more
I was walking along Larchmont Avenue when I saw Holey Grail Donuts. I stopped by with the intention of only checking out the menu. However, I was fascinated when I read that this store specialized in taro donuts cooked in coconut oil. I was so intrigued that I ended up buying a donut to see if I could taste the difference between a Holey Grail donut and a traditional donut. I got a Strawberry Fields Donut and was so impressed to see the employees making the donut right in front of me. I have to note that the employees were incredibly friendly and explained each step of the process as they were cooking my donut. After a brief wait, I ate my piping hot donut. It was simply the freshest donut I've ever had because it was made right in front of me. The flavor was incredible. I really enjoyed the strawberry glaze. It was an incredible few bites. The donut was rather pricey for its size, but the taste was undeniably delicious. I absolutely need to come back to try more unique flavors and get a tasting box! read more

The donut was average and was not the typical type donut - not airy/oily/krispy. Instead, they are thick and pillowy inside with a slight crisp on the outside. They taste more like buttermilk donut. The flavors were good but kind of small. Presentation was great. read more

I've never had taro donuts before trying Holey Grail Donuts. The decor looked more like a cool coffee shop. The donuts aren't in a display case, but they are made to order. They are guaranteed warm and fresh. The texture is like a cake donut that is softer and springy. They change the flavors regularly. The Notorious P.O.G. (5 stars) was my favorite because I love the combination of pineapple, orange, and guava. It reminded me of the signature juice combination that I would regularly have in Hawaii. I also liked the simplicity of the vanilla and maple glaze of the Original Sin (4 stars). The ube and passion fruit flavors in the Purple Haze (3 stars) were too subtle. I liked that the Dandelion Chocolate (4 stars) wasn't too sweet. The service was 4 stars during my two visits. While I was waiting during my first visit, they gave me sample of their coconut cashew milk, which was good. The staff was very friendly, and they were eager to talk about their menu especially if it's your first time. It's nice to have something from Hawaii in Larchmont Village. Holey Grail Donuts are from Hawaii and are known for their taro flour-based donuts. I never had taro-based donuts before (and I love taro) so I had to check it out. Donuts are $4 and the menu is spit between their weekly rotating flavors and classic flavors. I opted for their classic "Original Sin" glazed donut given it was my first time here. Donuts are made-to-order, so it came out warm and surprisingly quick! As others have mentioned, the donuts are on the smaller side and most closely resemble a "cake donut" that is dense and chewy. The donut was good and well-balanced -- but I can't say it was anything particularly different from other glazed caked donuts I've had in the past, yet for a higher price. It was solid. Note: despite being taro-based, there was no lingering taro flavor. I look forward to come back and try their more specialty flavors. They have another location in Santa Monica and you can order online (might be hard to find their online ordering link on their website but I found it -- they want you to download their app). The shop is located in the vibrant Larchmont neighborhood with a lot of other surrounding shops. Street parking or you can part 2-3 blocks over for free and less stress. read more

My friend and I sampled the original sin donut at the LA Food Bowl and immediately knew we had to come here to try other flavors! Flavors change on a weekly basis, and there's one flavor that supports a different cause each month. We placed an order for advanced pick-up and o would honestly NOT recommend doing this unless you go there early and watch them make the donuts. You'd want to eat the donuts as fresh as possible! After trying all the flavors, the original is still the best! The employees are very friendly and I loved the design of the store! read more

I'm a big donut fan and these are some of the best I ever had. They are very fresh, tasty and the variety is amazing. Service is great. The location can't be beat on Larchmont between Melrose and Wilshire with alot of cool shops on the street. This is a state top ten donut destination. Highly recommended. read more
