We had a small leak in our laundry room that damaged a baseboard (unrelated to the project we were doing with him), but he took the time to look at it and provide his feedback on what we can do once we fix the leak so we don't have to remove the entire baseboard. As a person, Roberto is a very friendly guy and a great communicator who made sure to text and/or call me regularly with updates. He was highly communicative the whole project, which I personally prefer, and it went to show how much he wanted to ensure things are done right and to my expectations. This was evident even during the initial onsite inspection, where he patiently spent a full hour with me onsite walking through the details. He was very open and transparent about what he can do, what solutions he offered, what materials are optimal, and what I could expect. It was always very clear what I needed to provide and at what schedule. His quote was very fair, and while I initially thought of using separate contractors, I gave him the bid to manage the whole project. His price was competitive for managing the schedule and the back and forth needed to ensure the work was done at the right cadence. The work schedule was managed tight and completed exactly to our quoted timeline. All of the folks he brought onsite were experienced, organized, and friendly, with different teams scheduled to exchange work days much better than if I had tried to manage the sequence myself. It's clear that Roberto takes great pride in his work from his attention to detail and wanting to do things the right way. Over our ~2-week project, he went above and beyond to make minor repairs and fixes to ensure the end result was stunning. During work, everything was covered neatly and taped neatly. As you can see from the before photos, the house was a bit run down. The oil-finished floors needed both a refinishing and spot repairs of gaps, holes, and water damage, and the final refinish was perfect. The original ceilings had a rolled-on, inconsistent texture with cracks, and Roberto communicated the effort needed to make them smooth. The cost was fair and the ceiling is now essentially perfect. As the house is from the 1920s, some walls still have the original plaster and old world texture which I decided to keep, while rooms with wallpaper were removed, sealed, primed, repaired, and painted. The end result looks fantastic, and as mentioned he went above and beyond doing patching and wall sanding to make it extra perfect, which was greatly appreciated. The trim work was also incredible: all baseboards were installed with care and with sharp corner work, and he flawlessly repaired the crown moulding in the kitchen and office. Overall, I was incredibly impressed. Roberto is a super nice guy who cares to do great work, and he is the first person I'll call for future work on my home.

Although E-Mora Construction had a full schedule, they managed to squeeze me in and completed the work ahead of schedule. The workers were great, and tidied up after work finished for the day. The sump pumps and moisture barrier were installed in two days. Ernesto Mora himself came to offer the initial quote, and returned once the work was completed for a final inspection, and to collect payment. When my electrician went into the crawlspace to install a dedicated circuit, he came out and said that if it were his house, he'd be "very happy with the work, and I've been in a lot of crawlspaces!"

We got an estimate from Andersen (less the storm door). Their products and installation method were top-notch, but so was their estimated price! So we wanted something more economical. After some research we heard Milgard windows using an "retrofit" installation would be more in our price range. We also wanted a window/door-installation company that gave us a good price estimate (1/3 the cost of Andersen), was in our locale (Tri-Valley) , and had 5-star rating already. So we were happy to find Cal Coast that met those criteria. The initial estimate process was straightforward. Our estimator was friendly and efficient. The format of the estimate came in digital PDF format. It was easy to print, and the details and layout were very helpful with diagrams of what the windows and door would look like with dimensions. One measurement for one window was slightly off. I mentioned that to my estimator. He assured me that was not a problem because if I accepted their estimate, then the next step was for another technician would come out to the house to re-measure the windows more accurately and in more detail. We did accept the estimate, and indeed another technician came out to do detailed measurements. Then we received a revised and more detailed contract in that same great layout! The estimator kindly set our expectations that our windows and door were going to take 5-6 weeks to custom manufacture and about 1 to 2 days to install. Those timings were right on target, which helped us in planning other events in our life. Installation only took 1 day! The crew was great - courteous, hard working, and efficient. They put foam insulation in the space between our window frames and the new windows. The caulking work was professional. I was pleased. And the crew cleaned up after themselves perfectly. Another thing I was pleased with was Cal Coast's production manager helped me apply and get my city building permit for the new windows. The day of installation, the foreman handed me a nice folder with the printed permit with other instructions. I really appreciated that. Also after installation she worked with my city building department to schedule a final inspection by a city inspector. When the inspector came out, because the product and installation were superb, it passed with no problem. Of course, I paid a little more to have this permit processing service, but it was well worth it. Finally, as you can tell from this rather long review, I'm very pleased with our experience with Cal Coast and the Milgard products. I add my 5-star review to others that have gone before me for Cal Coast!

My overall sense is that Carlos is fairly capable and experienced but either his team or him are not as careful as we had damages to our finished wood toe kicks and our lacquer cabinets looked like they had been dragged over nails as they were being assembled. I didn't appreciate that they made 0 mention of it at all and I had to point it out. As the homeowner, I essentially had to baby sit them for 5 days through the install since it felt like they were incapable / unwilling to read the kitchen cabinet installation instructions in detail and I caught several mistakes early on during the cabinet assembly that made me hesitant to leave it unattended. Carlos's attitude was particularly bad through the entire experience as well. Always made it seem like we were inconveniencing him or being too nit picky even if we caught some mistakes. At one point, he even threatened to quit after the assembly but before the installation simply because he had underestimated the complexity of the project. We did have a 1 day delay due to some plumbing / electrical issues but that's pretty typical as far as kitchen cabinet installations go AFAIK. In the end, they were able to get all the kitchen cabinets installed, albeit with a lot of effort from my end due to the more custom nature of the project. The price was affordable and the work was solid (minus the scratches) but for me the bad attitude wasn't worth it.

When I called out this issue, he became racist making comments like "you people". On top of it, they got the wrong paints and smoke detectors despite having old samples with them. We had to go exchange ourselves so they don't waste another 2 hours. When we settled the bill and sent them home, Bruce shook hands with me. Later when we realized my wife had paid for some of the items but the refunds went to Bruce's card, we politely asked that he pay us back.
