I had been living with increasing pain from a herniated disc that at one point was so bad I thought I'd never work again, let alone watch a movie in a theatre or sit in a plane long enough to take a real vacation. I was on disability from work a couple of times, and had gotten to the point where I thought I was just one of those people destined to take opiates and watch daytime TV for the rest of my life with bad gray roots coming in. At the time, the ADR surgery was pretty new, so we considered a fusion briefly, but I was concerned about loss of mobility. I am so glad I selected this surgery and this surgeon! Dr. Stieber is exceedingly competent but he's also NICE and he cares about his patients as people. For my surgery (performed at NYU), he brought in a fabulous anesthesia specialist who seriously listened to me regarding my tendency to become quiet nauseous with general anesthesia and doubled up on the anti-emetic as a result. I was back at work in just 10 DAYS after the surgery, an amazing feat in my opinion, as I am part of a Facebook group of people who had the same or similar issues and surgeries. I had one of the absolute best experiences of anyone in that group. In fact, my mobility after the surgery is better than it had been in years. I am just so impressed and grateful, and every time i bang my head at karaoke, I think how lucky I am to have had Dr. Stieber as my surgeon. THANK YOU! Also, his office team is great too!

I am a senior and all alone so.....Who do you believe or trust these days....not sure our medical system is in a sad state of affairs.

Between the compound/open fracture and the other broken bones, my morning started off tragically wrong. Thankfully, Dr. Tam is more skilled than all the king's horses and all the king's men because he was able to put me back together again! Dr. Tam impressed me with his straight-forward "this is what I would do if it were me" approach. I like options, but he isn't afraid to tell you what the best option is. Before surgery, he put his hand on my shoulder and let told me, "You'll be alright." He assured me he would do his best. His tone and the warmth of a human touch comforted me. I was very impressed by his skill. This isn't his first rodeo and he is very familiar with the ins and outs of surgery. I'm pretty sure he gave me a Borg implant, take a look at the picture and tell me what you think! I hope I don't start saying, "Resistance is futile!" I don't as on a call with a friend when I was waiting to be seen. I had one ear bud in and I wasn't visible due to my hair. I finally get called into a private room where I then sit down to wait for the doctor to come in. The chair has my back facing the entry way of the door. Mr. Stracher then comes in after a few minutes waiting and rudely questions me asking me if im talking to myself with a very narcissistic tone. I then tell him that I am not talking to myself while I look at him in confusion. He then looks at me as if I'm lost and shouldn't be there for my appointment. He then beings to go back and forth with me when he never even introduced himself to me and explained anything. He didn't want to do his job and struck me as a very lazy combative doctor. He then tells me that I am a trespasser and that he's calling the police on me. Black people and black women DO NOT COME TO SEE THIS DOCTOR UNLESS YOU WANT HIM TO CALL THE POLICE ON YOU FOR SHOWING UP TO YOUR APPOINTMENT. My review is solely for the experience I had with the office. I never did get to see the…read morechiropractor. Maybe it was just a number of unfortunate coincidences. But, at some point that's a pattern in my eyes. I called the office during office hours and left a message (no one had picked up). I didn't get a call back in the next few hours, thought, no worries, I'll stop by - wanted to see the office anyway. I came in and spoke to the office manager/ receptionist - Amanda. She was nice. Said that although this was one of his office days the doctor was out of the office for a personal matter. Ok, made an appointment for the following Friday at 10AM. Took a day off to be there. Fast forward a week. I come in at 10AM. The doctor is not there yet - that he was delayed by the weather (it was sprinkling) no problem, I sit down to wait. About 10 minutes later Amanda tells me that she just texted with the doctor and because of the weather he was delayed - ok, I say ok I'll wait, how far out is he? In Syosset. I stuffer with that - you don't get 40 minutes delayed by drizzling rain. She apologized for the inconvenience. I told Amanda that I took a day off to see the doctor, and although I'm frustrated, to call me when he gets in and we can find a time today that I can still come in - since I took a day off specifically for this. At 1:25PM, over 3 hours later I get a call that the doctor got called out on an emergency and wouldn't be in today at all. And that she can reschedule at my convenience. My convenience? At my convenience I would have seen him TODAY, as scheduled. I struggle to believe that both stories I received in the same day were both true. Really disappointed - can't believe I burned a day off for this. As a side note: this office seems to focus on "no fault" insurance.
