My podiatrist explained that there wasn't a definitive cure for bone spurs; instead, the focus was on pain reduction to enable a normal life. She strongly recommended I visit "the best Certified Pedorthist in NYC," Spencer Weisbond (her exact words), for custom-made orthotics. At that point, I was willing to try anything for even a slight reduction in pain, so I promptly scheduled an appointment. My experience at Orthotic Solutions was excellent from the start. Spencer made the molding process easy and comfortable while he explained everything thoroughly and efficiently. A few weeks later, I returned to pick up my custom orthotics. Spencer trimmed them to fit the shoes I brought and provided instructions on their care. My hope was that they would at least ease the pain enough for me to walk short distances around the city. What happened, however, was far more profound. In just a few weeks of always using my custom orthotics, the pain in my left heel had completely disappeared. That was two years ago, and I remain entirely pain-free when using my custom orthotics. Occasionally, if I walk for extended periods without them or go barefoot, I can feel a hint of pain starting to return, reminding me that the bone spurs are still present. But the custom orthotics properly distributes the pressure on my feet, allowing me to walk without pain. On August 30th, i took my 19 month old daughter here due to a recommendation her pediatrician made for a custom AFO. When we arrived we were attended by Melissa, which was by far absolutely wonderful and very gentle with my daughter, she indicated that instead she would be recommending a UCBL and we agreed to follow up with her pediatrician and obtained a new prescription for the UCBL i provided the new prescription to Teitelbaum promptly and they agreed to order it, there were some issues with my insurance however i informed Mimi we would pay out of pocket for the orthotic, even if it was $350, if my daughter needs it, we'll invest in it. I asked if the UCBL was already ordered and they confirmed it was and told me it would be ready by approximately September 5th. When i called on September 5th i was informed it often takes a week and a half and i agreed to call again on September 7th. On September 7th i called and inquired the status of the UCBL and was informed it was not ready yet. On September 10th and 11th i called and they were closed so i was unable to get in contact with them. On September 12th i called and inquired the status of the UCBL, the receptionist i spoke to was VERY rude and expressed that "she was not the one making it, so she didnt know" I asked her if it would be possible to just have them call me when it arrived so i wouldnt have to keep calling on a daily basis she also said no to that. I demanded to speak to someone else which was more professional and was informed there was a slight delay but she would speak to the company making the UCBL and would have them expedite it. I was informed it would be ready by Friday, September 14th instead, i forgot to call on the 14th and instead called on Monday, September 17th again. No luck i was informed it was not ready yet and was ASSURED it would be ready by September 19th as i informed them we are leaving the state for vacation and needed it by then. I was assured it would be ready. On September 19th they were closed, so i called this morning and still not ready. There is no valid reason they can provide as to why this has taken three times the amount of time i was told it would originally take and the fact that they cannot simply agree to call me once its ready instead of me having to waste my time on a daily basis to see if its ready.
