I can not say enough great things about Perfect Stride!! I've been working with Vikash for over six months, and he is by far the best PT I have worked with in over a decade as a competitive high school + D3 college athlete turned runner into adulthood. I came in after dealing with more than half a year of chronic pain in multiple places--my knee, hamstring, and random spots--that had completely sidelined my running. I had already tried several well-known running PT clinics around the city and continued to end up with lingering pain and zero trust in my providers or recovery plan. By the time I found Vikash, I was frustrated, burned out, and extremely fearful that I'd never get back to running. From day one, Vikash was different. He was the only PT who actually listened to what I'd been experiencing. He took the time to understand the full picture and built a thoughtful, personalized plan instead of a one-size-fits-all routine. What made the biggest difference, though, was how he guided me through the recovery process with positivity. I was extremely pessimistic when I started but overtime with his thoughtful and supportive approach, I began to feel more hopeful. Update review !!! Hi it's 2025 and I am still going to Perfect Stride ! I returned for a torn rotator cuff and when that injury was almost healed I started strength training. I am what many would consider to be a senior citizen ( I certainly don't feel like that), and thanks to Keith I am now deadlifting my own body weight - 115 pounds ! I find the workouts to be far more challenging than I would ever do on my own and also the fun factor is a huge plus! I have met many people who dealing with serious injuries at Perfect Stride but the atmosphere is so upbeat and supportive there is this sense that recovery is always in reach and being told things like " You are not your MRI" really helps. After months of attending Perfect Stride, my knee mobility improved tenfold, and Vikash was such a fantastic PT. My orthopedic doctor who treated me with PRP shots recommended me to Perfect Stride after seeing several PTs who did nothing to properly treat my knee pain from a ruptured tendon. I was frustrated, and my fitness was declining after years of being a runner. Not to mention, my legs became disproportionate, one lacking way more muscle than the other. There are not enough positive things to say about Perfect Stride. The entire staff is so kind, friendly and knowledgeable. You can't go wrong with any of their physical therapists. I've worked primarily with Maddie and Megan and I must say that the progress that I've made with my injury would be not possible without their expertise. Joe Gambino is one in a million! For 7 years after my surgery, I kept getting injured and feeling pretty crappy. During that time, I sought out SO. MANY. PEOPLE. It wan't until after working with Joe G, that I am now feeling incredibly empowered again. And jeez, what an amazing feeling!! I like to think Im athletic; and being able to move in the way I want is very important to me. As cliche as is sounds, he has opened my life back up. After all, we only get one body that we get to live with as long as we are here :) Joe G keeps things light and fun during a time when things can feel very frustrating. I started working with Perfect Stride after re-aggravating a stress fracture. I worked with Brian who was very knowledgeable and was thorough in checking in and asking questions each session. Unfortunately I started in March right when the pandemic hit the hardest so opted for teleheatlh sessions for the first 6/7 weeks. Obviously not the same but Brian took the time to demonstrate each exercise and still gave me pointers as I was doing them over google hangouts. These guys know what they're doing. I worked with Joe G on my right shoulder, and in not much time he made my shoulder feel 100%, which I didn't think was possible given how damaged it was. He warned me to do the same exercises on my left shoulder. I didn't listen to him and of course I ended up needing to go back to him when my left shoulder started hurting. So he knows what he's talking about! It's one-on-one attention but is out of network for most insurance. Very worth it IMO as I dealt with the PT factories without personalized attention before and didn't achieve the same results as working with Joe. read more

I've been going to Perfect Stride for a lil over 6 months and they are amazing! After a lil volleyball accident caused me to rupture my Achilles' tendon and have surgery they were able to help me get me back to walking normally again. From the beginning it was all very easy, from checking my insurance details (Austin's awesome) to following up with the surgeon's recommendations. It really was great to see a physical therapist and doctor work together to get me healthy again. #FeltSpecial I mainly see Joe Gambino (who still won't admit if he's with "the Gambinos" lol) His kinetic knowledge amazes me every time! (Of course I try not to look amazed, but I am) Each time I've brought up what I thought was a small issue he's helped me understand more of how it can be connected to my other injuries and helps me to correct the issue. Due to my (dangerously?) active lifestyle I found myself in need of physical therapy for a dislocated shoulder. This place did such great work for me when I had a severely sprained ankle I came back. They've been great all through the coronavirus events, ramping up their office cleaning then shifting to virtual appointments even before the city shut down most businesses. Expect lots of personal attention from the friendly staff and to finish in better shape than before your injury. They're up front about costs and dealt with my insurance just fine. read more

I've gone here several times to visit Dr. Vikash. As an active athlete he always understood what was going on with my body. Each time I always learn a new way to improve my mobility in different parts of my body. He sends me home with "homework" each time, and is actually really strict with homework assignments. I would rate the Perfect Stride PT team higher than 5 stars if I could. As a professional runner that struggled with injuries for about 3 years, I can honestly say meeting Vikash and the Perfect Stride team has been a game-changer in my career. After years of stress fractures, pulls, and the issues caused by compensated running due to injuries/imbalances, I accepted that I couldn't get healthy alone: I needed a hands on team that I could work with 1-on-1. I worked with many different groups in the city, but noticed how many places work with multiple clients at once or give the same basic movements, with little hands-on-PT work. I met Vikash and the Perfect Stride PT group and it clicked instantly. Their knowledge is impressive and I feel I learn something new every time I have an appointment, since they think outside of the box and are constantly working to learn more about their craft. The full hour of treatment is devoted to you, alone: first 30 minutes is hands-on work and next 30 minutes is active work to rehabilitate areas. They recognize that the body is a system and they take a multifaceted approach to get down to the root of underlying mechanical issues, rather than treat merely the area with an issue: it's about addressing the cause, not just the pain. Now that I am running healthy with their help, I still have weekly check ups to make sure I'm doing the proper prehab, and not just rehab. Best PT office I've ever been to. I worked with Joe L. and Vikash for 4 months to treat a pulled hamstring/lower back pain and I've learned a lot, including how to train around a sports injury, manage pain, and grow stronger. Unlike most places, these guys spend the entire hour 1-on-1 applying sports massage and teaching you exercises. They help you help yourself, so to speak, and show you how to diagnose your own weaknesses on a daily basis so you can rehab/prehab appropriately. Plus they're up to date on the latest techniques (foam rolling, kinstretch) and will have you doing new, more challenging and effective exercises for your injury. I owe these guys a review because they've changed my life. Having suffered from long time occupational stress, I found my way to Vikash at Perfect Stride. Having been in PT for 3 months prior to finding him, I was skeptical I would ever get better. Two months later the amount of progress I have made is astonishing, and as a result, I am now almost pain free, have a better idea how to move my body, and will likely be able to work in my career many years to come. Don't let the name fool you, Perfect Stride isn't just for runners and athletes, my shoulder knows better! Extremely professional, knowledgeable, and compassionate -- the entire experience from start to finish was very positive. And that's coming from someone who dislikes exercise in nearly all forms! Austin at the front desk is very friendly, organized, and responsive, which made getting my first appointment really easy. Joe G. (and team) is without a doubt the best physical therapist I have ever worked with. In six weeks, he has helped me nearly fully recover from a knee overuse injury -- I am able to walk much more again and with very little pain. The team's great sense of humor and encouraging nature (unlike other PTs I've seen, they were never judgmental) is also a key reason for my positive review. The environment was peaceful and fun. I saw Joseph LaVacca this week after getting a recommendation from a crossfit coach that specializes in yoga and movement patterns in general. Joe did a quick functional movement screen that was more effective at quickly diagnosing all my body's imperfections than any physical therapist I've met. The best part was that he gave me actionable advice: 1) Stretches to perform and when to do them 2) Movements to avoid 3) Movements I can substitute instead This is huge. I think most people give the typical diagnosis like "your shoulder hurts" (duh!) or advice like "do nothing for a really long time and see if it gets better" (not helpful). I'm not a physical therapist so it's hard for me to give a professional evaluation, but this place had the right feel to inspire confidence: - At no point did he try to sell me on coming in regularly, he didn't even ask me to come back unless I think I need to. It's not one of those places that has you come in 100 times for some massage/adjustment that doesn't do anything but cost you time and money. - The first thing he asked me to do was an overhead squat with a pole (no weight), great sign that he knows what he's doing. - In addition to bands and other standard equipment, they have a squat rack and kettlebells. I have way more confidence in someone that works on athletes vs sedentary types. - There was a copy of Kelly Starrett's Supple Leopard book in the waiting room, icing on the cake. I'm only 2 days into trying the stretches and substitutions that Joe gave me, but I'm excited to see how it works out. So far I'm optimistic. read more

I found them on Yelp and from the initial phone call with Austin through to my first appointment with Joe (LaVacca version, there are two:), it was a true first class experience. These guys are on the cutting edge of treatment and highly informative around the techniques they are using. I literally couldn't get up in the morning without lower back pain and within the first week, I felt improvement. Outside of their professional expertise, the generally jolly vibe and good stories they tell while I am there, make the time fly by! As an injury-prone former college athlete, I have seen my fair share of injuries and physical therapists over the years, so trust me when I say that Perfect Stride is the BEST PT practice I've ever come across. After I'd rolled my ankle one too many times, my podiatrist referred me to the Perfect Stride team. Joe impressed me from my first visit with his thorough and modern approach; he didn't just assess my history and ankle; he looked at my gait, posture, and took me through some functional movement tests. Over the next several weeks, Joe and the rest of the Perfect Stride gang helped me with my ankle, as well as some nagging hip and back pain that was bothering me. I loved having the whole hour of one on one attention as opposed to being pawned off onto an assistant, and the exercises they gave me were super-helpful. Bonus: their facility is super-clean, well-equipped, and the atmosphere is casual, upbeat, and fun. In a city full of insurance billing factories who throw a heating pad and stim on you for 45 minutes (I know from experience), Perfect Stride is the real deal. Perfect Stride is the best. I had issues with plantar fasciitis in the past and was forced to go to physical therapy but I didn't have positive results from it so I never really understood the benefit of PT. However Perfect Stride has completely changed my view on PT and I can't imagine going anywhere else. Last year I jumped off a box, landed on a foam roller and severely sprained my ankle. I was reluctant to go to PT because of my past experience so I got my own crutches and attempted to just let it heal on its own. After a month I still had pain and issues walking, and a very swollen ankle. I really thought I'd never be able to walk normally or wear sandals or heels again. I called Jessica Kwong for acupuncture and she pointed me towards Perfect Stride, convincing me to just give it a try. After just one week of PT I had drastic improvement. The swelling and pain went down exponentially and Vikash really broke it down to the basics. Part of the training involved correcting my form on walking, squatting and running which not only helped the healing process but also has provided long term benefits in my regular workout routine. Last week I sprained my thumb and had throbbing pain throughout the day and lost all range of motion. I went to see Vikash the next day and after that one treatment I could move my thumb again. Perfect Stride has a great group of therapist and a really fun an positive environment. As an active person who loves to push myself, I can confidently say that they're not only interested in helping you recover from the injury, they are also very invested in training you through proper, preventative techniques that will help your active or non-active lifestyle in the long term. read more

I came to Perfect Stride six months after partially tearing my hamstring, an injury I incurred while stupidly doing the splits (don't ask). I initially tried rehabbing on my own, and then spent a couple months with another PT covered by my insurance, who was very sweet but saw 3-4 patients each hour and kept diagnosing me with different ailments, none of which led to me getting better. She was also uninterested in helping me get back to CrossFit, and repeatedly questioned my interest in squatting or lifting anything heavy. After leaving her office one day depressed and in tears, I called a CrossFit coach/friend and she insisted I go to Perfect Stride, and Joseph LaVacca specifically. Joe's initial session with me (which is one-on-one for a full hour) quickly put me at ease, as he was whip-smart, knew exactly what was going on with my hamstring and how my body's imbalances were contributing to thinking I still had an injury. He was also very experienced with and supportive of my athletic goals. Within weeks, I was feeling better and more confident. After 5-6 sessions, I am now pain-free, back to CrossFitting and am getting back into running shape. It was entirely worth the money I spent. I came to them after a lifetime of soccer injuries, 3 knee surgeries in the previous 5 years, and was gearing up for my 4th knee surgery - an ACL revision. Highly recommend Perfect Stride. As you would expect of any PT, they're great at diagnosing issues and experienced at achieving results. What stands out is their team dynamic and attitude. I have had back problems since college and been to a number of PT clinics in NYC without any real improvement. After a few sessions at Perfect Stride I felt immediately better. While most PT clinics in the city will simply give you an adjustment and a bit of a massage, Perfect Stride does all of that and more. I recommend Perfect Stride PT to anyone who has suffered an injury or who has been battling any nagging pains or discomfort. Most especially though, I recommend the team at Perfect Stride to athletes that are looking to get back into the game or make sure that they are able to stay healthy and active. I have worked with the team for minor and major conditions ranging from a lack of mobility in my hips to a calf strain and torn ankle ligaments. In each case, they have worked to get me back into the game in a healthy and safe fashion. A big key in that is the trust they have earned from me. Every visit, I get one-on-one attention, an explanation of my condition, what/why/how they are treating me, what I need to do, and what I can expect going forward. What more can a person ask for? And yet there is that extra more. The atmosphere is great and the people, including other patients even, are great to engage with. That mental treatment is a huge bonus and definitely helps to get through an injury. As they say, laughter is some of the best medicine.
