She takes your whole person into account, not just your injury/why you're there. Hana worked with me weekly as my hip injury started acting up again. I never felt ashamed or like I was "weak" because I was back in physical therapy. It was always like we were on the same team to figure out what was wrong and to get me feeling better. Every win, however small, was a win for both of us. My healing took a lot of different treatment modalities, and I'm grateful to have had a PT who encouraged that and connected with my other doctors. I'm so happy to say that my pain is completely gone. I don't think I could have gotten to this place without Mark, Hana, and the MVMT team. I cannot recommend them enough.

Marks level of insight and expertise were excellent, and the overall experience was a new one for me as pertains to physical therapy. I have been through many facilities for different recoveries and they all felt like I was getting a mediocre training session at a gym for hurt people. The sessions with MVMZT by comparison were done in a private room in a 1:1 setting so I was the full focus of the therapists attention, not one of 3 a therapist was running between at most places. My overall pain in the area has been reduced by therapeutic treatment for scar tissue and mobility in the area in the office sessions and my strength in the affected knee has been significantly improved after the strengthening program I was given at MVMT, both in office and at home prescribed workouts. I could not give MVMT and Mark Lusk a stronger recommendation, he is absolutely world class.

I can not say enough great things about Perfect Stride!! I've been working with Vikash for over six…read moremonths, and he is by far the best PT I have worked with in over a decade as a competitive high school + D3 college athlete turned runner into adulthood. I came in after dealing with more than half a year of chronic pain in multiple places--my knee, hamstring, and random spots--that had completely sidelined my running. I had already tried several well-known running PT clinics around the city and continued to end up with lingering pain and zero trust in my providers or recovery plan. By the time I found Vikash, I was frustrated, burned out, and extremely fearful that I'd never get back to running. From day one, Vikash was different. He was the only PT who actually listened to what I'd been experiencing. He took the time to understand the full picture and built a thoughtful, personalized plan instead of a one-size-fits-all routine. What made the biggest difference, though, was how he guided me through the recovery process with positivity. I was extremely pessimistic when I started but overtime with his thoughtful and supportive approach, I began to feel more hopeful. He helped me understand that pain isn't always a setback, taught me how to work through it safely, and reframed how I think about my body and training. Those skills have been genuinely life-changing, and I know I'll carry them with me as an athlete forever. Recovery wasn't always easy, and there some bumps throughout the process, but I really would not be where I am today without Vikash. I'm now not only out of chronic pain but actively training again. Even though I have occasional flare ups, I have so much more understanding about how to work through them and not fear injury/pain as an athlete. I'm continuing to work with Vikash on a structured running plan, building a strong running base for next year's races, and I feel stronger, more confident, and more mentally prepared than I have in a very long time. If you're a runner--or honestly any athlete--who feels stuck, discouraged, or unheard dealing with lingering pain, I highly recommend Perfect Stride!

I want to praise and recognize her very personalized focus and concentration on my specific physical needs and spinal condition. From the very first session until the last, Roxanne assigned me a vast variety of exercises to assist me in my gradual, but steadily progressive recovery from a painful and limiting back injury. I give Roxanne all the credit for the improvements I made in my recuperation. I was especially grateful for her upbeat attitude and very motivating encouragement as I progressed through the therapy sessions. I so enjoyed seeing Roxanne give me a smile and thumbs up sign when I finished a challenging exercise on equipment she chose and assigned to me. I was aware that she was gradually increasing the physical exertion and demands of a specific exercise as my back began responding to the therapy sessions. In addition to her very professional oversight of my therapy sessions, I truly appreciated Roxanne's very friendly and personable interaction with me. It was obvious to me how much she also enjoyed watching her clients make progress and improve. Anyone who needs physical therapy at Sloane Stecker in Lincoln Square will be fortunate and successful if Roxanne is their physical therapist. As I have arthritis, since that time I've found occasion to go to other physical therapy studios from time to time for other debilitating conditions. The other studios have been adequate, but Sloane Stecker is the best physical therapy site of I've been to. The clinicians are highly qualified and insightful. They played close attention to the source of pain, the source of weakness, the reason why I am attending physical therapy. In 2019 I returned to Sloane Stecker after 2018 spine surgery and a relapse, hospitalization and stay at rehab. I received physical therapy and during the pandemic I received virtual physical therapy, which was excellent. I've been in physical therapy since then until now in 2025. I found in 2024 my pain was not resolved. I had major spine surgery in September 2024. The expert clinicians at Sloane Stecker Lincoln Square prepared me for my surgery prior. I went in for surgery and then returned to Sloane Stecker Lincoln Square for rehabilitation and I have been there since. My pain from spinal stenosis is resolved and my clinicians, Dr. Grace Kim, DPT, Dr. Devon Merino, DPT and Dr. Kevin Wong, DPT have greatly helped me working on my strength, balance, and endurance. I began with Dr. Grace Kim, DPT 2 months after major spine surgery. She was very thorough but careful. I was hopeful to go overseas to visit my three young grandsons and asked if she might prepare me for the trip. She cautiously watched my progress in therapy and made no promises. I could only respect that, and do the work! I got stronger. We began in November 2024. On January 17, 2025 I boarded a jet for Spain. I returned to the U. S. March 21st and to Sloane Stecker Lincoln Square April 8th. Dr. Devin Marino, DPT evaluated my conditions. There were eval questions and diagnostic tests. The studio has state of the art equipment in-house and they even have some fun and challenging games which build motor skills. Working there is a thrill, and I always feel I am getting stronger and more able when I've been there for my sessions.  Devin assigned me to Dr. Kevin Wong, DPT. I began working with Dr. Kevin Wong, DPT right away after returning from my vacation.  He's always been very attentive to my particular needs.  He's aware that I am working to reacquire balance and strength when walking since major spine surgery.  Kevin gives me specialized strengthening exercises to make my legs stronger and make me more stable on my feet and more confident when I am walking.  He encourages me to work hard in our sessions to improve my health and wellbeing.  He's my cheerleader.  I highly recommend Sloane Stecker Lincoln Square, Dr. Grace Kim DPT, Dr. Devon Merino, DPT, and Dr. Kevin Wong DPT to work with as physical therapists.  You will be in safe hands and in a safe place to get better and stronger while you are healing.  There is no place better.

After seeing a lot of great videos on Instagram, I worked with Joe in a virtual PT setting for…read moreabout 8 months for chronic low back pain and later knee pain. While initially I was optimistic, over the span of a few months I began to feel increasingly not listened to, talked over, and dismissed. Not only were the range of workout and PT regiments not working, when I tried to discuss that they weren't working, I was outright told that it was probably because the pain I was experiencing was likely not a result of actual physical problems, but was "in my head." For a while, Joe managed to convince me that my "nervous system had learned to send pain signals at some point and just kept sending them even though nothing was wrong." I desperately wanted that to be true but after months and months when things were actually getting worse instead of better, I got suspicious. When my knee really started to act up, he asked me to describe the pain. Literally before I had one sentence out of my mouth he cut me off, asked me to perform one movement (a swivel of my knee from side to side), then said that because I was able to do that, that proved nothing was wrong with my knee. That was the complete extent of his evaluation process. When I brought up these concerns and told Joe that I knew in my bones something was wrong, he told me that I should consider meditation and perhaps go see a mental health counselor. He wasn't even willing to consider that his initial opinion might have been wrong, thus the only explanation was that it was all in my head. I left many of my meetings with Joe choking back tears of frustration at being dismissed. Eventually, after much emotional turmoil I wrote a heartfelt email explaining how hurtful it is for a woman to be dismissed by a medical professional she had a placed her trust in. As women we are used to being dismissed and pathologized, and there's decades of academic research proving that point. I wanted to give him the opportunity to reflect that he might have unwittingly contributed to a hurtful dynamic. He responded by totally dismissing everything I had said was my felt experience as a "narrative that is not helpful." I was disappointed in his lack of interest in improving his practice and feel it was an ethical failing on his part as a doctor. After I broke ties with Joe I finally got the MRIs and x rays he talked me out of and found out that I had a sacral fracture, a large coccygeal bone spur, and a herniated disc. Additionally I found out I have a genetic degenerative knee condition that has caused scar tissue and early arthritis and will require a knee replacement before I'm 45 years old. I was right all along, there were multiple legitimate reasons for my debilitating pain and I wasted thousands of dollars and months of what could have been recovery time. The point is, while Joe is personable and seems friendly, and I genuinely wanted to like him, I left hurt and defeated. Joe is NOT an effective diagnostician, in my experience. He might do better with in-person patients who already come with a diagnosis, and could be helpful with exercise plans tailored to that diagnosis. But if you don't know exactly why you are experiencing pain, and particularly if you are a woman, I would be VERY cautious, especially in a virtual setting where physical evaluation isn't possible.

My pain's gone, my scar is barely visible, and my spinal cord is no longer under compression! I'd had chronic mild pain for many years, but it never felt particularly serious. I finally got imaging when it started becoming a little more frequent and severe. I was horrified to learn my spine was severely compressed, and while the pain was bearable, I was facing future loss of function. I would have done anything to avoid surgery, as I'd seen bad outcomes with family members in the past. I met with four spine surgeons, and talked to friends and friends of friends with medical, spinal, and orthopedic expertise. Even the most anti-surgery people insisted I needed surgery, and recovery would be easier when I was younger. Each surgeon I met with had different preferred methods of performing the ACDF. I hoped to avoid an iliac bone graft, which another surgeon had told me was absolutely necessary. Dr. Quirno said he would plan to use a DePuy 3d-printed titanium and cadaver bone insert instead of the doing the graft. He said he could pivot to the graft mid surgery if he saw my bone health required the change. That was a huge relief! At the time, another doctor told me that physical therapy would be enough, but even after years of trying, the pain always returned. Even more importantly, I now have the confidence to work out consistently without the fear of having to stop after just a few weeks when the pain flares up. What sets Dr. Kang apart is his holistic approach. He doesn't just treat symptoms, he looks at the body as a whole and gets to the root cause of issues.
