Shame on me really, this place sucked before it closed down, they reopened a few years ago and that was terrible, and it still is. I'll give them that there was a brief window in the middle there where they were lovely. We ordered for the food to be picked up at 6:15, arrived and paid at 6:12, they said 5 min. Well then we watched 8 other families, leave with giant bags of food. People who came after us etc. of course they could have ordered ahead too, so the first few didn't occur that maybe we have a problem. We went back to check and a look of horror crossed the kids face, and I knew they'd given it away to others. Everyone then disappeared and went to the kitchen in a mad dash to make our food. When we got it they shoved it at us and I said I wanted to check it for accuracy. It had been wrong the last time , and when I had arrived I mentioned to the person that it had been wrong and if they could please make sure that the hot chicken sandwich gravy was included. He told me that the gravy covered sandwich in the menu didn't come with gravy - untrue , went to "verify" and found out he was wrong. Anyways, I digress, I began checking my order and sure enough missing my 12oz of chalet sauce we paid extra for. They want to give me free dessert. Yes because I want to spend another 20 min with you. No thanks. I said no thank you I don't want anything from you but a refund for my missing item - to which the manager said I was "ridiculous" his words, he couldn't refund me. Cool thanks so you're straight up stealing now. Anyway I have learned my lesson and hopefully this helps you too. I usually like Swiss Chalet. I've been eating here since I was a kid The only location open during that time was the one on Memorial Drive in the N.E. The family and I were coming back from a trip to the Reynolds Museum and decided to stop in at this Red Deer location. Since most of you have ate here at one time or another I wont bother describing the food. Rather I'd like to focus on the quality of the food. I ordered the 1/4 chicken dinner, my wife had the ribs and soup, my younger son the pasta, my older son just had the perogies. All the food was okay except for my wife's. Her entire meal was luke warm, bordering on cold. We informed our waitress and she was quick to bring back the food heated up. I believe all they did was microwave the food. It would've been nice to get freshly cooked food served hot. oh well don't think we'll be back to this location. read more

Spotlessly clean dining room AND washrooms. The food was very good. The salads were crisp and fresh. I find Swiss Chalet chicken is much better when you go to the restaurant rather than order delivery. I treated myself and ordered the 1/3 chicken and ribs. Ilove their ribs. I do miss the days when they provided you with wet wipes, eating ribs is a messy business. I ordered tea and was impressed that the metal tea pot's lid fit snug and tight, allowing the tea to steep properly. They must train their dishwashers well! The only reason why I am not giving this Red Deer location 5 stars is the fact they were short staffed. By reading reviews, it appears this isn't an uncommon event at this location. By no fault of her own, our server was slow in checking in on us when we finished our meal. She had several tables she was serving. As we are on a road trip and wanted to get to our destination, we were in a bit of a rush. However, once she saw we were in a rush, she rectified the situation nicely. read more

Poor service, waited like a fool for my chicken wrap forever only to realize it had not been made and the veggies had been but were now 15 minutes old. Had to prompt to check on my order after patience wore out. For an $18 wrap with veggies that was beyond sub par this will be my first and last visit and I am a tolerable person. 0 stars! read more

It's decent but be prepared to wait a long time for service, food, refills and your bill.

First off, the wait to be seated was far too long even though there were plenty of empty tables. And we weren't allowed to sit where we requested. Instead, we had to wait for this manager lady, who was very slow moving and rude, to decide where we would be placed. When we finally got seated, we were ignored by waitstaff until we pulled one of them over and they told us that they would find our server. The service was okay, but the wait for food to arrive was almost unbearable and we almost got up and left. When we finally got our dishes, they were a complete and utter disappointment. The chicken was dry and flavorless, the rest of the food tasted like it had been sitting too long before they brought it to us. Soggy and cold. We are not likely to return. read more

3 stars in this case shouldn't mean "A-OK." It should mean "Meh-OK." It's closer to a 2.5 out of 5. I guess I'm feeling generous today. I've never eaten at a Swiss Chalet before. I hope this location doesn't reflect other locations. The person I was with said the Lethbridge location has excellent food... The place was nearly empty, yet we were seated right by the kitchen entrances. So basically the sounds of the kitchen dominated us. And there's no real barrier separating those tables from the kitchen area. Feels a bit sterile. The food: I don't know what they mean by "Always so much for so little." Unless they mean $16 for a marginal chicken stir fry that wasn't filling. The veggies seemed elderly, like they had been around for a while (should have been more crisp). The person I was with said their chicken was really dry. This morning it felt like my colon was going to throw up. Service was acceptable though. If I could give 0 stars I would. I ordered meals online and picked it up at the restaurant. Every meal was wrong, sure they are only human and mistakes happen, but the customer service I received when I informed them of their mistakes was horrendous. A 1/2 rack of ribs and 1/4 chicken dinner didn't come with the chicken or the potatoes. The kids chicken and tomato pasta had no chicken. The lady at the restaurant said that just comes with tomato sauce, so I inquired why the menu specifically says chicken and tomato pasta and she said "well we don't put chicken on it" A rotisserie beef sandwich with added Swiss and mushrooms came with neither, and also had no gravy on it. Like what kind of hot sandwich has no gravy? When I called, they informed me that "because you picked it up at the restaurant, we can't send the replacement to you, you will have to pick it up" After several phone calls, they did agree to send it here, still waiting on it to arrive, an hour after calling them. Needless to say, we will NEVER order from here again. They should be ashamed read more

We've eaten at a few Swiss Chalet, this has to be at the bottom. We had to wait to sit on a Saturday afternoon as there was only 1 server on. The chicken was dry, fries were like eating brine. The food was fast coming out but wasn't good. And for the first time ever there was no lemon water to get the stickiness off our fingers. read more

Our family has been at the Red Deer location occasionally over the years since it opened and was usually pretty good with the a couple times of long wait times but food was overall pretty good. We tried take out last night and was beyond disappointed. Was told it would be a 20 minutes wait for chicken which was okay with us but couldn't understand why they didn't have cooked chicken at 6:00, dinner time. We received our take out order 55 minutes later which had some free wings accompanying our order. I think they put the wings in some sort of shrinking device, very small. Glad we didn't pay for them. Drove home (30 min away) and discovered they didn't put our salad in the order. The food was okay but very difficult to grant more than one star when the service and wait times were deplorable. Nothing wrong with the food really - although the salads and the rolls are stale most of the time. The worst thing is they NEVER get your takeout order right. The last three times I have had to drive all the way back for the half they didn't bother to give me. They sure take your money in a hurry though. I'm totally done with Swiss Chalet. They are plenty of good restaurants out there that don't screw up my order and try to rip me off. read more

Took my boys for dinner. Nothing special, no alcohol, no desserts. Food was ok, not great, server was friendly but slow.......but it COST $87.00!!!!! I could have gone for steaks.....DONT GO AND WASTE YOUR MONY. First time here and will never return. read more
