I usually like Swiss Chalet. I've been eating here since I was a kid The only location open during that time was the one on Memorial Drive in the N.E. The family and I were coming back from a trip to the Reynolds Museum and decided to stop in at this Red Deer location. Since most of you have ate here at one time or another I wont bother describing the food. Rather I'd like to focus on the quality of the food. I ordered the 1/4 chicken dinner, my wife had the ribs and soup, my younger son the pasta, my older son just had the perogies. All the food was okay except for my wife's. Her entire meal was luke warm, bordering on cold. We informed our waitress and she was quick to bring back the food heated up. I believe all they did was microwave the food. It would've been nice to get freshly cooked food served hot. oh well don't think we'll be back to this location.

Yuck

It's decent but be prepared to wait a long time for service, food, refills and your bill.

Our latest experience will have been our last, and I'm actually hoping that someone from there will read this. I realize going to a bar for brunch is rarely going to be stellar so our expectations were measured but even so, the Benedict's were extremely bland an flavourless. We did mention this to our server but asked for some condiments that made do. However, that's not what prompted this review. It started with the curdled cream in our coffee but of course that can be forgiven as it happens for sure. The issue was how it was handled. Started with a look at the coffee and a "wow, you're not having much luck today" as a response from our waitress... followed by... nothing!! No removal of the coffee, no replacement of the coffee, no acknowledgement or removal of the coffee from the bill! Now our server was friendly enough and I don't put this all on her - this is poor management and subpar training. A simple bit of education could have turned our experience around easily and avoided our comment. Get it together and help your staff!! We saw you in there doing basically nothing - brutal. You hear the industry complain about all the external factors that are hurting the industry but sometimes you have to look within.

I can't give a zero so I have to give a one star. I give…read morekudos to a decent Scotch collection and German Beer on tap. But local beer at $8.75 a pint??? I better get good service!!! Not a waitress too lazy to walk the two feet behind me and make me pass food to other members of the table. And why's as "how was your steak?" If my reply was "tough cut with no fat the salad was the best part" only to reply "that sounds good let me get you the bill". Is this still a community college town???

On our way to Calgary we stopped by to try this American fast-food joint. It has part of my name so had to try it! As you can see in the pictures quite a few items were no longer available but that was okay as there were still many choices to choose from - except I was disappointed I could not try the Jalapeno Poppers. Easy to find on Gasoline Alley Red Deer and lots of parking as well as a drive-through available. Lots of seating from red booths to hard plastic chairs. Only 1 other small family dining in. Interestingly they had power plug-ins for customers so that was cool to see and useful to remember if a need arises. Lots of high chairs for toddlers as well. My chicken burger was a little disappointing. The chicken was smaller than I expected and not piping hot like it should be if made fresh. The bun was not soggy which was nice. Adequate bacon on it too. Onion rings were good - not bad, not exceptional. Fries were shoe-string style which I love and if they had cooked them longer and salted them more I would have loved, but at least they were hot. The milkshake was good. I was feeling plain and the vanilla was as expected. They did put amply whip cream on-top which was super tasty (not shown fully in picture as I already ate it!). Pop was self-serve and choices were as expected - fanta orange, sprite, coke, diet coke, coke zero. Friend said the burger was edible but not something he would order again. If the opportunity arises to get the fries, try the Jalapeno Poppers, and a milkshake I may take it But I do not think I will go out of my way to eat here again.
