No where did it say they were closed from March to April on the websites. I drove over 30 minutes to repair a wetsuit tear to see the sign marked closed until April 9th. Unfortunate review and hope others see this before they pay a visit these next few weeks. I would still love to give Swell Stuff a chance in the future, but this instance has been an annoying hassle that was completely preventable. read more

Took my wife's rip curl in for replacement zipper. They were nice, price was reasonable, and really quick. A lot cheaper than a new wetsuit. Check them out. They also buy and sell used wetsuits. read more

Pretty rough around the edges in terms of communication but the service is needed and appreciated

A wet suit repair shop in Lecuadia - this place is pure genius. Catering to the local surf community in Leucadia California, Swell Stuff is the pefect blend of surf, zen, smart, local, and necessary. This business fills a new gap. Got a hole in your favorite suit?, Lisa, the owner, a fashion school graduate, and brain trust of this idea will patch it up like new. Or she'll add a key pocket for you. Saves you cash in this economy, but, better yet, saves, repairs or alters the wet suit that you just love, love, love. If you have any extra suits from prior surf, donate them here too - Lisa will patch em up, and make them available here at a reasonable value for people who might not be so lucky as to go get a new suit in the first place. Then she'll give you a 10% discount on your repair. Its a win for all. Prices start at $20 and are more than fair. Turn around time is listed on the website as 3-7 days. Check out the little surf related local made doo-dads she has in the store as well, cool gear, including hats she makes in her free time. She tries to carry stuff by local providers. This place is a great for all. A little reduce reuse recycle, a little surf, and a little Lecuadia make this the smartest new shop in town. read more

the folks here saved our vacation -daughter had a full suit and zipper broke first day of our trip cmping on spring break at Carlsbad St beach. called and they said bring it in. I had a great experience with Swell Stuff wetsuit repair. The owner gave me a day to bring in my wetsuit and then got the repair done in just one day. My wetsuit looks amazing! Thank you for doing such a great job. Janice read more

As I've gotten older I've become more sensitive to cold water/weather, so I purchased 2 wetsuit tops... one for lap swimming and one for the ocean. Both were the appropriate size, but neither fit at the back of the neck, so I did a little research and found Swell Stuff. I made an appointment for a fitting and a few days later met Lisa, and three days after that I had two perfectly fitting tops... at a very reasonable price! Highly recommended!! read more

I had a decent sized rip just below the chest zipper. The patch has lasted through the winter and shows no sign of reopening anytime soon, which is awesome considering the area of the fix is frequently stressed by my fat 4ss. Price was great and turnaround was super fast! Considering its a Billabong wetsuit, I can safely say that the patch is one part of the suit that I know won't rip anytime soon! read more

Having a background in pattern design and manufacturing, I know a professional when I meet her. Lisa knows her stuff. Please don't insult her by asking for a discount, as one person did while I was in her shop. Industrial sewing machines aren't from Walmart. They are over 7,000 bucks and do the job for neoprene (wetsuit material) It takes a lifetime to do professional alterations, Lisa is a master at her craft. read more

I've driven past this place for the last few years knowing that one day, I'll be visiting... There was a new south swell this last week and I dont know when or how but, I ripped a hole in my new Xcel wetsuit. I dropped it off late Thursday and received a call early Saturday morning that it was done. An excellent repair was done for only $25. I'm impressed. Great service! read more

Just picked up my repaired/altered full suit from Swell Stuff today - they took my 4-year old Oneill psycho repaired the neck seal, glued up some detaching seams on the body panel, and hemmed the long sleeves to short - basically creating a new suit out of an old one, and for a super reasonable price (I got 10% off because I donated an older full suit for them to resell). Excellent craftsmanship and quick turnaround - they have some pretty cool custom beanies and other accessories for sale as well. Highly recommended, will definitely be back for xmas gifts and future wettie repairs - read more

Good Price - Great quality work - and very nice service. Denise is a sweetheart... That's all there really is to say. I drive about 16miles just to go to this place instead of the places around ocean beach. Go, you'll be glad you did read more

TL;DR: Great repair for a great cost, super nice staff and fast service. (Less than a week) So I came here to get my Patagonia wetsuit repaired after normal wear and tear at the same time a very rude couple was yelling at the girl working the front. Apparently their wetsuit they put on consignment got sold after the 90 day holding period and they were angry?? that the store's owner upheld the agreement... If you're the kind of person who drives an Audi and needs to put your WETSUIT on consignment you have some serious issues going on in your life that don't need to be taken out on a wetsuit repair shop or the girl who's just following store policy. Anyways, awesome work on my wetsuit! I paid $40 to have the legs of my Matuse wetsuit shortened (he literally just cut off some of the leg) at some place in OB. I paid $30 here to have 2 holes restitched and 4 seams retaped and I waited like, 3 days. read more

All of my xcel suits for the past 6 years have gone through this shop. They do good work. More importantly they're local, fast, and keep me in the water. Easily added years on suits that would have been been tossed long ago. read more

I recently bought a Nine Plus wetsuit right after the Corona virus hit, love it, but in two areas, it was a bit loose, actually, super loose. Everywhere else on the suit was perfect. I asked Ben, customer care at Nine Plus, if there's anything we can do, EVEN during the heat of quarantine, he still proceeded to find the best solution. He ended up connecting me with Lisa at Swell stuff. I ended up texting her and thought, I won't get a reply back anytime soon, especially now, during lock down. Nope, she reached out that night via text. The VERY next morning, the lock down at it's tightest, she and I Face-Timed each other and she was able to see all the issues. She was so easy to talk to, I learned that she does all the warranty work on wetsuits for many brands. We both agreed on the alteration it needed. SIMPLE! Took seriously 10 mins. ALL done in the convenience of our homes! Even then, after marking on the wetsuit, I was still skeptical how it would turn out because of the curves of the location of the alteration? Easy kept coming as all I had to do was drop off my wetsuit in her drop box conveniently close. I had to bust out my older wetsuit until I got my 9+ back, thinking it was going to be at least a week. The VERY next morning, she text me photos of what she was about to do and gave final adjustment suggestions. I said it looked good and gave her the thumbs up to proceed. THAT evening, I received a text from her that it was done and I could pick it up at my convenience. AMAZING TIMING! amazing customer service. Did I mention, she was super cool, laid back, and so easy to work with, I recommend her to anyone. My experience was so great, customer service was beyond perfect! This was all done in 2 days, thank you so much Lisa. I will ONLY bring wetsuits to Lisa at Swell Stuff after my experience, HIGHLY recommend her! read more

I had my two custom Cyber wetsuits repaired here. Both had sizeable tears from fin cuts. They finished my suits in 4 days and exactly on time when they said it would be ready! Also, the repair jobs were excellent!! Reglued, stitched, and sealed with quality wetsuit tape! Very affordable and worth every penny giving business to these very cool store owners!! Thanks again! read more

Friendly, professional, outstanding service and totally reasonable prices and turn around times. I dropped off my triathlon suit in the overnight drop box and got a call confirming price and turnaround time just a couple of hours later. I loved the feel at the shop when I picked up - Lisa was very kind and warm and took the time to show me her work and explain the repair even though I showed up at the end of her business hours. I wouldn't wish a torn wetsuit on anyone, but if you have one this is definitely the place to go! read more

They moved a little bit south, but they are still within walking distance form their old place. Very nice lady that did my alterations. My wet suit was 6 years old and had many a tear and hole. She fixed it and it looks good as new. No credit cards, cash only, but it's more convenient than paying for a new wet suit! read more

Recently took my wetsuit in to get repaired so i can get back to open water swims. Recommended from a teammate, i had little reservations that it would be taken care of. But still, i'm always a little cautious. I took it in on a Tuesday, met very friendly staff that gave me a solid estimate, made a deposit and an eta for a pick up date. Could of sworn Augie said it would be done by next week the 26th. But wait this week is the 26th. Eh, no worries, not in a big rush. Super surprised to get a call two days later saying it was ready for pick up! Yesss! Came back in, tear near base of zipper well patched and reinforced and small nail gashes fixed too. Can't wait to try this bad boy out! Thanks Swell Stuff! read more

Just picked up my wetsuit (3/2 O'Neill Pyrotech) from Swell Stuff after I had a small hole repaired in the left chest area. Lisa did a brilliant job and the turnaround was very fast. I am fairly new to the area so I will be recommending Swell Stuff to all my other surfing friends. Additionally, they have a unique little shop that sells beach wares (Candles, signs, etc) that's worth checking out! read more

Awesome work. I had a wetsuit that needed some repairs and she did a great job. Quick too.

Swell Stuff took a DIY repair I botched on my suit (which was a disaster, I mean I had glue and patches everywhere which caused major chaffing and delam of the inner frabric) and completely repaired it - NO, wait! Not just repaired it, but cut out the whole crotch and leg and sewed a whole new piece on, which returned the suit to its formal glory! Friendly responses, great prices, quick turnaround, and solid work - Swell Stuff should be your first and hopefully ONLY stop for your wetsuit repair! Thanks, Lisa! read more

My wetsuit was fixed in 4 days for $30 and she did a great job. The rip was on the neck and it was pretty big so I was skeptical about getting it fixed and thought about just buying a new suit but I'm happy I took it to Swell Stuff. She did a very good job. read more

I put a wetsuit on consignment at swell stuff in October. I called them twice within 90 days. They did not return the calls. They sold the wetsuit and will not give me the money. Swell stuff fixed my TRIATHLON wetsuit with AWESOME results. Fixed a tear and a torn off wrist cuff like no problem. Inexpensive. Fast turnaround. I'm really really impressed with them. I first tried going to a local dive shop that does some wetsuit repairs but this was more than they could handle. So SWELL STUFF to the rescue.
