Drop off was super easy and we didn't need the suit back fast so we gave them 5 days . It was ready to pick up the day they quoted and was a breeze to pick up. I brought in a brand new trench coat that needed to be taken in on the sides and shortened. The charge was higher than I would have loved, but fair. Here's where the issue may have started - Pedro (I believe was his name) asked me to keep/hold onto my trench coats belt, so I did. I was told it wouldn't be a week for the alteration. Overall it would be a weeks wait, which for the work was reasonable I guess. I came back that Wednesday, at 3pm, and was told it wouldn't be ready until 5. Which leads me to believe it was finally being worked on that morning/afternoon. Again fine, as long as it was done right and not a rush job. Since I was there I prepaid so I could pick it up on my walk past the shop in a few hours. Unfortunately, upon getting home I realized they removed the belt loops to take it in and didn't put them back. I tried calling but by the time I had tried it on at home they were closed already. Went back the next morning at 9 when they open and they were closed with a sign they'd be back at 11. Showed up at 1050, since I needed it fixed asap. I had to wait a bit for Pedro to get back to the store to speak with me, but he remembered me and had my belt loops saved in the back, he'd just forgotten to put them back on. He was able to fix it same day, and now my jackets great and fits like a glove. They're close, seem fairly priced, and did good work once it was done correctly so I will give them another shot for sure. read more

He is nice but the owner forgets. It happened twice..first time he forgot to do my outfit and then it went to his other shop ans then the third time I went..I finally got it. Thr second outfit..I told him I needed it by friday morning. He said no problem..the ticket said Monday morning. I told him.that before I left and he said I made note it will be done Friday morning. My husband went to pick it up and it was not ready and I needed ot before we left. He said I could do it an hr but who knows he might forget again. Very disappointed read more

I will not be returning after my most recent visit. The owner claims he went on vacation while his daughter ran the shop, and in the meantime he or she lost 3 of 5 items I placed in their care, which were high value garments with sentimental value. When I asked how this was possible (the other 2 items were present), he said that they gave my dresses to "someone" who did not present my ticket or provide my phone number for identification. This interaction was not logged in their computer and he could not say if it was him or his daughter who did this--the story changed multiple times. I'm flagging this unacceptable practice to others and I discourage them from entrusting their possessions with this dry cleaner. It's not guaranteed that you will get them back. read more

PONTO CLEANERS is a case in point. i've been coming here for more than twenty years and love these guys. since my wife and i spend a lot less time in an outside office than we used to, our dry-cleaning needs have fallen off a bit. however, my resort-wear wardrobe (i will confess to a weakness for TOMMY BAHAMA silk shirts -- admitting you have a problem is the first step, right?) still commands a trip to PONTO now and then. highly recommended. read more

I was a first time customer here and had super high hopes for this place but they totally let me down. I never ever ever write bad reviews and I should've went back for my money but didn't think it was worth it. I sent in a Levi jacket and a Sherpa jacket to get cleaned. the sherpa jacket came back just as dirty and I asked if they could revive the Sherpa because the material was matted which they didn't even attempt. When I dropped the dress off I was told any issues they'd call, instead they just kept the dress and didn't say anything! So I had no clean formal dress to wear. We have been going to Ponto Cleaners for years... and have seen several owners come and go. It's not a fancy place, but the owners, who often are the ones helping us at the counter, are always kind and helpful. The prices are good, and, except for the parking, which can be limited at times, the location is convenient for us. We have also had them do simple alterations several times, and have been very pleased. (We haven't needed anything extensive yet, so I can't speak to that, but I would guess that would also be good.) read more

So, I'm all in favor of supporting smaller local businesses, which is why I gave this place a try. But, at the second shot, I won't be returning. Went to pick up my drop off order from before the holidays this last Monday and my beautiful white slacks that were very expensive are now dingy beige. As the man behind the counter repeatedly told me "No, no, no, no", I repeatedly told him "yes", as I became more infuriated. Finally, I pointed to the bright white Rady Children's Hospital lab coat ready for pick up that was hanging behind him and tried to explain to him that was the shade my pants were when I brought them in to him. He insisted they were not and I could see we were not getting anywhere. Needless to say, I won't be going back there again. I would say that my experience could have been made slightly better had the man at least took some responsibility or offered something to make it right, but nada. I simply said I didn't think I should pay for that item and offered to pay for the rest and that is how he proceeded. Here is a photo of said pants that I only wore a few times and definitely nowhere that warranted a beige return from the cleaners. I will go back to driving across town off Palomar Airport Rd, even though I don't drive that route any longer on my daily commute, and paying more. read more

Mostly to custom-fit harnesses for my long haired Chihuahua... he's a 15 pound boy and if I get harnesses big enough for his chest, the "waist" is way too big. The seamstress is a really nice lady. She always completes the job within a few hours, which is perfect as I am usually doing errands at several places when I am in The Village. read more

Absolutely TERRIBLE! We used to go here when it was under different ownership and loved it but since the new owners took over, the service has gone down the tubes. We dropped off several items for dry cleaning and for hemming. We dropped them off and told they would be done a week later (and the ticket stated it too). We weren't able to get them until 13 days after drop off and the owner's kid was there. He couldn't seem to find our items and called his dad to find out where it was. The response we got was that they would be ready the next day by noon. (Mind you, this kid never knows what is going on and will call his parents about EVERYTHING- he CANNOT answer a single question). We said that we had to have our items by the next day as we needed them for an event and he said it would all be ready. We left and about 10 minutes later, the kid called and said he found our drycleaning. We came back and picked that up but said the hemming would definitely be ready the next day. I showed up the next day, and surprise surprise, they weren't there. The worker called the owner again and I was told they would be ready by the next day between 10a-2p. I called the next day before making the trip only to find out that it wouldn't be ready until the end of the day. We came back, finally, after 17 days to pick up our clothes and they were finally ready. Yes, the items were hemmed properly but it took 17 days!!! After they said it would take a week! The owner was there and just made excuses about how hard it is to shorten some jeans and Thanksgiving falling AFTER our due date and not one apology. DO NOT GO HERE if you need something remotely on time. If you have a few weeks to spare and want the run-around, this is your place. read more

I've been coming here for ten years. The shop has changed owners 3-4 times over the years but I get an excellent value from their tailoring services. They've never let me down. They've done everything from making my living room curtains (I provided fabric and a go-by curtain they mimicked); patching holes and ripped seams in shirts and pants; fitting jackets and dresses; and adding in fabric to make shirts flow better when not tucked. I also trusted them to clean and preserve my wedding dress that had seawater and sand on the bottom half. Because I've been a loyal customer they did a great job and gave me a fabulous deal. They have limited staffing so just call before you go. Some of the issues mentioned in other posts may have been a previous owner. I've never been in a rush for anything so I can't speak to their fast turnaround, but their results are always stellar and prices are very reasonable. I recommend these guys. read more
