One of the best authentic Pakistani restaurant in N.Y. I like their kabobs ,daal makhni ,chicken tandoori ,something with the Kaddu ( gorgot the name of tge dish ,it was made out of long squash n it was white) ,naan and my most favorite is Hafsi halwa ( a Pakistani desert/ sweet)... 2 stars because this place has hands down really good falooda. We got the falooda and "Kashmiri chai". Let's start off by saying this Kashmiri chai isn't chai at all. It's milk with pink coloring, bunts and taste like hot dogs. I swear it has a hot dog smell. I think they have a special "hot dog" ingredient in it. Not only does it smell like hot dogs but it also tasted like hot dogs. If you have a craving for some hot dogs on the form of liquid this is the place to be to satisfy that hot dog craving. STAY AWAY! I went to eat breakfast around 9am. After wanting 20 minutes, they brought us cold poori and told us they ran out of halwa. Filthy table with dirty water pitcher (still water that was probably there for days). The chickpeas where cold and tasteless. I also ordered Keema Nan and had little bit of meat stuffed in the crust and the whole center was full of dough. The service was horrible, the server did not even bring us any napkins. I went in for the first time and right when I walked in the presentation was disgusting. The tables were all dirty and no worker offered us a seat or menu. It was like walking in to a deserted restaurant even though there were people. The workers just give a bland stare not even inviting people in. When it came to the food, it was one of the Nastiest tasting places I've ever visited. The pani puris werent even actually pani puris, it was as if they clumped 30 day old moldy potatoes into the puri. It looked green and the presentation was non existent. This is perhaps the best Pakistani restaurant in NYC when it comes to authentic food experience. Dishes are very well priced. There nans are just the way you would get in Pakistan. They would always cook their foods fresh for you. Their chicken karahi and tawa qeema are heavenly. Have been here several times and would continue to come. They need to work on the ambiance though. Tables and chairs are old and dingy. Restroom is dirty and not well maintained. Temperature is usually on the colder side in restaurant. But the food experience forces me to revisit this place. Their mixed grill is great with good selection of meat, it comes sizzling hot so beware of that. And the best thing about mithaas are their to die for MANGO pastries and cakes. Food is very spicy but flavorful with so many different spices. I had chicken with the string beans and butter chicken with lamb rice. Not bad for the price but just too spicy for me. On our way to Coney Island we decided to stop by at this place hoping to discover something new. We ordered Dahi Bhalla, Mixed Grill, Chicken Karahi and Tawa Qeema along with some garlic naans and paratha. The food looked good but it was somehow average. Nothing really wowed us. Perhaps the true touch of Lahore was missing and that 'little bit extra' was not there to impress. They claim fresh preparation of food which, if true, is pretty good thing. Went here with high hopes (since i was told they prepare fresh tawa qeema & chicken kerhai) and was super excited for discovering a desi place which doesnt just serve pre made food. But contrary to my expectations the food was just OK nothing too exciting :-( (I saw a man on the other table being served a paratha and desi omelette and I jumped with joy, thinking the food must be oh so authentically awesome, But contrary to my expectations the food was just OK nothing too exciting :-( We started with Dahi Bhallas which were dominated with some kind of a sweet sweet chatni (wish they had taken it easy with that) then came the BBQ platter it looked quite impressive as it arrived on a hot sizzling plate, it had a variety of chicken kebabs but what I found peculiar was this green piece of chicken (which looked more like a bell pepper) wish they hadn't put so much food color on the green chicken tikka or whatever it was! The Chicken Kerhai was just average with a horrible selection of chicken cut, and I am quite sure I tasted Shaan masala in it! Now we talk about the Tawa Chicken which was as dry as it could get! No masala nothing binding the dry chicken together, if they substitute the chicken with lamb it might work out a bit better. Finally! A Pakistani food place that has an A star rating on Coney Island Avenue and has authentic Desi food! I love their samosa chaat and my husband enjoys their chicken patties. The sizzling mixed grill is worth the 5 stars alone. While it does take time to prepare (you can be waiting up to 20-30 minutes) the sizzling sound of the various types of chicken make it all worth it. Add the fluffy naan and- ahh. The pastries are an added bonus- get the coconut one, absolutely delicious. Little Pakistan needed a place like this and I'm glad it's here.
