Stopped by Sweetgreens last Friday for a quick lunch to take back to the office. The selection of premade selection salad options was great, allowed me to think about what all they can put into the bowl vs just seeing ingredients. They also offer the "build your own option". I don't remember the name of the one I had but it had grains, kale, sweet potatoes, apples, and several other items. They give you an option to serve the salad with items separated as they put them in the bowl, or they will mix it up for you. Since I always hate trying to get a salad all mixed up I went for the mixed option, they did a great job of mixing it so that everything was spread out over the entire bowl. Portion size was nice, I was full when I finished and felt the price was reasonable. Could I make the same salad at home for a fraction of the price yes. Would I have to spend a ton more to get all the ingredients to do it, yes, so the tradeoff is nice. Sweetgreen, your downtown lunch scene is bustling! We finally popped by for a Valentine's Day lunch (yes, that's where we are in our lives...) The line to order wrapped it's way throughout the business and it appeared that they have a really strong carryout/app ordering scene. We ordered the pesto salad and the warm rice salad. I thoroughly enjoyed my wild rice salad with chicken and cashew dressing. I would definitely order it again. I also noticed that they have a great children's menu with truly healthy offerings (which is sadly hard to find..). The staff was prompt and keeping it moving. The only challenge was figuring out the line and flow within the tight space. The line unfortunately weaves through the dining tables making it a little tight. Overall, a positive experience. I went on a Saturday around 3pm. No line at all. I ordered the shroomami salad bowl. The employee said she wasn't happy with the way the tofu looked and then showed me. I agreed it looked way overcooked. She offered to replace the tofu with chicken without charging extra, which was fine with me since I'm not vegetarian and am pretty flexible. I had the blackened chicken. Pros: The person who helped me was lovely. Very friendly and accommodating. Also apologetic about the tofu. I liked the variety of options for a build your own salad, even though I didn't go that route. Other than the tofu, everything looked fresh and delicious. The miso ginger dressing was delicious - slight spiciness to it and very flavorful. Cons: Although I am flexible and wasn't bothered by the tofu/chicken switch myself, I still have to list it as a con because it's weird that they knew the tofu didn't look good but still had it available. I feel like it should have been replaced with better cooked tofu. Maybe it was too late in the day for them to feel like they should do that, but if I were vegan or vegetarian it would definitely have been more of an issue. The mushrooms and blackened chicken were very salty. I have a super high tolerance for salt and it still tasted like too much. I still ate it after mixing everything together really well to mute the salt-punch. If you have any issues with sodium intake, avoid the mushrooms and blackened chicken. If I'm in Indy again or another place that has Sweet Green I'd try it again to check out other options, but having said that, I'm not sad we don't have a Sweet Green where I live. I visited for the first time not too long ago and was pleasantly surprised to learn about the free 2 hour parking for retail in the parking garage connected to that building. It was a busy night for Sweetgreen and after waiting for about 10 minutes to put in my order, I overheard a lot of ingredients were already sold out. I love the variety in their menu! Many of the sold out ingredients were in a lot of their set menu items which was a bit disappointing BUT I am so happy with what I ended up with. I got the Shroomami and honestly did not expect it to be as flavorful as it was. I still can't stop thinking about how good it tasted! I do want to return to try some other menu items...but I may just go earlier in the day to ensure they don't run out. The staff were very friendly and were working so hard on a busy night. I said yes I would like to order but the other woman is waiting ahead of me. They all looked over to her, she said she was there for an online pick up. The same female employee shouted again and said something to the effect of see nothing to do with you. I was so floored by the way she spoke to me. I turned around to walk out. A different male employee with glasses said stop I can help you. I said no thanks and proceeded to leave. The female employee shouted "whatever she thinks she is all bougie and had an attitude from the start".... I have never received such horrible customer service. I work in the service industry and would be fired for behaving in this manner. I will never step foot in this location again. If I could give zero stars I would. Frustration I placed an online order yesterday afternoon at the downtown Indianapolis location for a 12:10 PM pickup. I walked from my office and arrived about five minutes early. There were already about 15 people waiting for orders. At 12:10 PM, my order still wasn't ready. The place was clean and pretty roomier inside. I hate going downtown due to parking, but if you live down downtown or are out for an event or just hanging downtown anyway, I would stop by for a healthy meal. This location had a lot of employees, but it took a while for someone to assist me and my order to pay almost $20 for a salad. I feel like the portions were super small. It's a wonderful and much needed addition to downtown Indianapolis, where it can be challenging to find healthy and fast options for meals. The inside is bright, open, and modern with an easy to read menu and focus on the ingredients. They even had a list on the wall sharing where they source all their ingredients from. When I researched the menu before coming, I discovered their app for quick mobile ordering. The app has an area you can mark any dietary restrictions, which will flag the items for you on the app's menu that you can't eat. I tried the Chicken Pesto Parm bowl, which came highly recommended from others. It comes with roasted chicken on a bed of spinach, with spicy broccoli, tomatoes, shaved Parmesan, quinoa, and a delicious pesto sauce along with hot sauce. It came with free bread as well! It really was an incredible meal, made with ingredients that make you feel better afterwards and full of natural energy. This location is my favorite sweetgreen in the city! It's always clean, and it is spacious. The service was satisfactory, patient, and quick. My usual order from sweetgreen is the Fish Taco Bowl. Since the Fish Taco Bowl is no longer apart of the menu, I have to recite my order from scratch each time. I don't mind, though, because I LOVE IT! For all interested folks, the bowl contents include: arugula, shredded red cabbage, quinoa, crushed tortilla chips, avocado, and salmon. The sauces that I get are miso ginger (A MUST) and the sweetgreen hot sauce (not really "hot" but provide a small kick of flavor). During this last visit, I also added some pickled red onions and broccoli. An excellent addition! If I do say so myself lol. The free bread is always trash at every location, but I always get it and eat it anyway because it's free lmao! Eat at your own discretion . I've been here a few times and I've been letting my thoughts marinate before reviewing. Every bowl I've had has been really good. Guacamole Greens, Harvest Bowl, and Chicken Pesto. All fairly reasonably priced, big portion and lots of fresh ingredients. You can customize a bit and choose between light, medium, and heavy dressing. (Heavy FTW) The line here gets crazy during lunch so I recommend ordering online before you come. They have a dedicated pickup food line. Only complaint is the times I've been they always seem to be out of one ingredient from my bowl! They let you sub in something else but kinda annoying regardless.
