Sweet Traditions is a local bakery in the Wake Forest Crossing Shopping Center. It is in a strip of shops to the right of Lowe's Grocery store. They have a menu that changes weekly, offering a variety of cupcakes, cake slices, cookies, cookie dough, and other items. Some of the varieties, like vanilla chocolate, and wedding cake, are offered every week. German chocolate is my favorite so I keep watch to see when that is offered. But other offerings are creative like banana pudding, hot fudge sundae, They offer gluten-free cupcakes as well. Cinnamon rolls used to be a treat just on Saturdays, but are offered on Fridays now too. Around the holidays, you can pre-order pies, cakes and other specialized items. They take orders for full cakes, wedding cakes, pies, cookies and cupcakes all year. If you have a sweet tooth, this is a great option to try some treats. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They even help take what you buy to your car if you get a lot of items at once. read more

TLDR: Lovely, welcoming bakery offering cupcakes, cakes, cake-infused ice cream, cookies, and more! I stopped here on a weekday upon recommendation from a co-worker. She was right, the cupcakes here are really good. I purchased wedding cake and lemon blueberry cupcakes. The cake has the perfect fluffy texture and a nice flavor. The frosting is well balanced, not overly sweet or overpowering. Personally I didn't like how granulated sugar was added on top of the frosting for decoration. This added a gritty texture that was unappealing. Others may like this texture. For the price, I would have liked more decoration. A dozen cupcakes is $42 (single or double flavor pack). Yes it is a good cupcake, but the decoration is so plain. At the time I was in the mood for cupcakes, however, the cake-infused ice cream was tempting. I would like to try it in the future. I was buying a cake for my sweet 16, and if you're looking for a perfect bakery then you found it! the icing held up AMAZING even after being out of the fridge at a party for several hours. The cake was moist and perfectly baked. All the staff are INCREDIBLEEE and almost as sweet at the desserts! I 1000% would and will buy from sweet traditions again. everything was wonderful! The inside is clean, has a nice display case, and is very organized! I personally bought the caramel toffee cake for the top and funfetti for the bottom. It had both buttercream icing and cream cheese (per my request)! You know how people who work at places can't eat the food that's made there? it's always interesting. I try to really watch my sugar consumption, but occasionally I will have a treat. I happen to be at the shopping center today, and I called ahead to make sure I could just place a drive up order right away. The lady that I spoke to was so friendly and explained that you literally can just pull up into a designated spot, choose your items from the menu posted outside, and text your order to the number, they will bring your order right out to you and you pay right at your car window. How fantastic is that! I chose fourcupcakes one for each member of my family - Lemon drop, red velvet, peanut butter blossom, and birthday cake. Look how gorgeous those cupcakes are! The inside is closed during COVID-19 so you pull into one of the numbered spaces out front, look at the menu that is on a board outside and text your order with your spot number to the number that is on the sign. They prepare it quickly and bring it out to you with a tablet to pay. We picked up cupcakes, a red velvet, snickerdoodle, chocolate raspberry, vanilla chocolate and death by chocolate, and two macarons, a lavender and pistachio. My favorite cupcake place! I've been here 4x so far and it's been my go-to spot. I've had the mint chocolate chip cookie whoopie, traditional cheesecake cupcakes, vanilla chocolate cupcakes, strawberry shortcake cupcakes, and the red velvet cupcakes. This may be my new favorite little spot in Wake Forest. I come from being a huge Edible Art fan (still am, but I'm not as close). Anyway, this place is fantastic. The cupcakes may be the best I've ever had. Delicious cake but the icing is my absolute favorite. True buttercream. The cupcake flavors are unique and wonderful. UPDATE: I was given the wrong information. They do actually use butter and it is made everyday. Just remember to check their flavors before you go in. Ehh. This place is so mediocre. Sometimes the cupcakes are super good and tasty. Other times they're not good. They don't use real butter in the icing. They don't have the same flavors everyday. You'll have to call ahead of time or check their Facebook for their flavors. The Death by chocolate is the only good flavor. The wedding cake is literally just white cake with white icing. I placed my birthday cake order with this business 3 months ahead of time just to go pick up my cake an hour away and it not be there. They claimed I didn't make a deposit but the deposit wasn't asked for when I placed the order and checked on it AND when I called a couple days prior to make sure it be ready, I was told it would be. It wasn't. My birthday party now ruined without a cake and I also got THREATENED by one of the coworkers working. Completely inconsiderate, didn't apologize but instead blamed me for the issue (even telling me that the customer is never right). My first introduction to sweet traditions was a food truck rodeo in Wake Forest. That's where I first met Belle, the trailer. She brought some of the yummyest cupcakes and cookie whoopies you have ever eaten. I am a Wake Forester....... Well really Youngsville, but WF is the civilization 5 mins from our home..... Anyway, I was excited to see sweet traditions has opened up a brick and mortar location in the forest. If you don't know they are there you might miss it because it is in the back corner of a shopping center, however you really should be looking for this place, because you do not want to miss it. A lot of places we have adventured too for cupcakes, we find to be very heavy, dense and moist. That's not always a bad thing, but the thing that sets sweet traditions a part is their version of a cupcake. It is very light and fluffy but some how still very moist. I have even been impressed by their gluten free versions. And it is hard to make gluten free food taste just as awesome as the glutenous version. But sweet traditions knocks it out of the park. My husband LOVES their cookie whoopies. My personal favorite is their sugar cookie whoopie, the hubbie loves their chocolate and their chocolate chip versions. But anyone you get will be amazing. So far in store they've only had the chocolate chip version, but I'm keeping an eye out for the others. Cupcake flavors vary by day, so it's good to visit often and see what they have lol. At today's stop I got a cup of well bean coffee, which is a locally owned and locally roasted, sustainably sourced coffee company. The coffee was very good although a little bit weak for me, (but I like a good strong cup of coffee.). However this is easily fixed. Next time I'm there I'll buy a bag so I can brew it Rachel strong. But with that said, the coffee had a smooth, non bitter flavor cool. I'm thinking it'll make a great cup of cold or hot brew. I look forward to getting a bag of this for myself! The icing also came off of the cupcake in ONE piece during travel. The icing didn't even smear the container. That's not a good sign. I never had their cookies before so I was glad that I was able to buy single ones. I was surprised at how hard the Red Velvet cookie was....like ROCK HARD.
