She told us Her father learned his bakery skills in Germany and handed down those skills to his children. She's gave us some recommendations of her pastries and I purchased 1/2 a dozen. I ate a lemon danish and it was delicious. This was the best danish I ever had because it wasn't overly sweet, and it had a soft texture. Carstens is by far the best German Bakery in the State of Idaho. The prices were reasonable, customer service was great and their donuts and pastries tasted amazing! I forgot the name of the scone - I think it was bacon, cranberry (maybe huckleberry) and pecan maybe? Holy crab, it was one of the best scone I ever tasted. It was huge because we kept munching on it for a while. It was savory with wonderful flavors. Most importantly it wasn't too dense but also not crumbly. The curry chicken had a very good flavor and the combination of the two was terrific! I had a small bite of the german cinnamon roll before dinner and, again, the pastry was light and flaky with a great butter flavor. There was a good amount of cinnamon and brown sugar in the roll. I'm going to have more of it later tonight! The young lady behind the counter (I don't remember her name) was very helpful, describing the options well. We chatted with her while we made our choices.
