If it's downtown IF, you're going to be selecting the 'somewhat difficult to find parking' option…read morefor everyplace. Villa Coffeehouse is just like any other of the legacy establishments in this way. With curb parking located in this cluster of narrow one-way streets--pulling up somewhere nearby becomes a payoff. From the street it looked quaint, like a little green vintage cottage. The cozy cottage feeling is there when you start to enter, but an array of scattered tables & lounging nooks plotted around a spacious interior make the final step in--like transporting through the wardrobe. Now, instead of what we expected--a little coffee kiosk serving sandwiches made from prepped hot items, tucked into a tiny lounge--we were perusing the various menus of a counter-order, half-scale 'brunchy.' Waiting to "Tend" our needs, the barista-cashier-server polished her counter while mindfully watching us ponder our options. Sort of pub-like, with a long surface and dedicated keep on the other side, this spot starts the action of every order. With the "keep" standing ready, and the others still deciding, I stepped up. Their menu features some pretty interesting sounding creations. I thought about the Rancher: Egg, bacon & swiss, on a croissant with ranch. Also, the Turkey Avocado Wrap sounds pretty yummy-- but ultimately my tendency to customize won out. Egg, bacon, pepperjack & grilled onion, on a Jalapeno cheddar bagel with salsa--Zesty. I was mixing ingredients of both the breakfast and lunch menu, but they didn't seem to mind. The way we did it was scattered. I had ordered both my food and coffee, before the other two both ordered food, then ordered their coffees. The keep handled this mess with no problem. A+ She sent back all three of our food orders to the kitchen, before starting on our drinks. I asked for a dark roast (which they didn't have), but the keep told me their strongest brew. So, I went with a cup of that, added a shot for a red-eye. The do-it-all keep brought everything to our table. The other two really enjoyed their food and drinks. My bagel was the epitome of hot-out, and it was pretty tasty. My coffee, well, I like strong coffee--their strongest roast at the time (according to the keep) ended up tasting like blonde roast to me. I needed to add a couple more shots to enjoy it. But I'm fussy about coffee, and the shots worked. I'll definitely go back. The place is just super inviting. Ok, so this place is pretty relaxing. While we were there the atmosphere was quiet & slothy, with only a few patrons totally kicking back. High ceilings create the appearance of soft almost natural lighting. Tables are scattered around the floor & in corners. The place would only require a little table scoot to become a small dance room--spacious. With capacity to seat and entertain a lot more people--I bet they have busy times. There's also a semi-private area with no door, but a couch and table. They have board games, books, a coat closet. I saw someone on a laptop. It's set up to stay a bit and we're going to come back to discover more, and more. 5*

My boyfriend liked the burrito but said he would like a little more meat. I liked the croissant sandwich & the maple syrup in it really added to the taste!

Coming into the Shaka's convenience store at Grandview and Foote in Idaho Falls, I couldn't help…read morebut feel like I was about to dock at Jurassic Island. I mean, the big green Sinclair Dino standing high on Shaka's Tiki-Island theme is for some, absolutely cinematic. It sits right where Skyline runs out airport shuttles and FedEx trucks, at the I15 and hwy 20 lanes. This stop has to be ready with everything you need to get back on the road from windshield cleaner to air compressor. Also being a Greyhound bus stop, means they have to prepare for hungry and tired travelers. No worries, Shaka's has got you covered. Shaka's Oasis convenience store and deli. This store is very cool and a completely realistic atmosphere of its theme. When shopping the aisles; getting everything you could need to continue your road trip, stock up your game night needs, or even just grab a snack prepare to rummage through the island jungle. This little place is just PACKED with your typicals, and items rarely found in other stores. If you're into trying something new, definitely come here, you'll probably find it. There is no way to forget that you are at Shaka's; like rare and exotic creatures, the items seem indigenous to the store. The Tiki vibe hovers all around you, as you navigate your way back to the "Tiki Hut" located in the store. (Not sure if they call it that, but I do). They have a little kitchen set up for serving some pretty yummy Made-To-Order foods, and a small dining counter. Here you can get caloried up, man! I am known to put away quite a bit of food for my size (got breathing issues, constantly burning calories, yet I stay pretty active). I usually order two main entree pieces, and a side, dessert, or both. We visited specifically Shaka's Hut for breakfast the other day. I got a really good cup of coffee. Good coffee is a prerequisite for five-star gas-station convenience stores. I ordered a Breakfast Burrito, a Turkey Wrap, and had a little Strawberry Cream-Cheese Cookie from a display case of crafted treats (Pretty sure these are brought in from another location). OMGosh! That burrito was glorious. Needed both hands to hold it. The sausage was delicious, the eggs are fresh cracked, and the pepperjack was nutty and a little zesty, just like it's supposed to be. That cookie; whoever makes it, should be enlisted to award them to gold-medal Olympians! I mean this was a delicious creamy sweet crumbly little thing. I want to take it home and name it. Then I had this massive amount of turkey deli meat & cheese all fluffed up with lettuce, and smoothed out with, I think Ranch. Uhmm--I wasted money. After I got my food and I saw the size, I gave half of my turkey wrap away to a gentleman waiting for his own order. I still went full tilt before I could eat everything. This is getting pretty long so, like the tortilla around the turkey I'm going to have to wrap it up. You won't be disappointed going to Shaka's. They have regularly scheduled promotions, and specials. The staff is super friendly, great people. This is a place you can tell; the owner and staff all love their island. 7*s.
