She told us Her father learned his bakery skills in Germany and handed down those skills to his children. She's gave us some recommendations of her pastries and I purchased 1/2 a dozen. I ate a lemon danish and it was delicious. This was the best danish I ever had because it wasn't overly sweet, and it had a soft texture. Carstens is by far the best German Bakery in the State of Idaho. The prices were reasonable, customer service was great and their donuts and pastries tasted amazing! I highly recommend stopping at Carstens if you want good quality pastries.

We selected a shrimp Thai soup and a chicken curry hand pie. We also got a goat cheese and fig danish and german cinnamon roll. We had the soup and hand pie tonight and were very pleased. The soup had lots of shrimp and was spicy and flavorful without being too hot. The hand pie was delicious. The pastry was so light and flaky with a delightful butter taste. The curry chicken had a very good flavor and the combination of the two was terrific! I had a small bite of the german cinnamon roll before dinner and, again, the pastry was light and flaky with a great butter flavor. There was a good amount of cinnamon and brown sugar in the roll. I'm going to have more of it later tonight! The young lady behind the counter (I don't remember her name) was very helpful, describing the options well. We chatted with her while we made our choices. We took our food to go so I didn't see the entire store - next time. And there will be a next time!

The candies, chocolate, clothing and fun "add-on" gift topper selection is the best around. You can find something in every price range and the quality is fantastic. What makes this store my favorite besides all of the above are the wonderful owners and staff. They're always so welcoming, helpful, kind and appreciative of each person that walks in the doors. It feels like a big hug when you walk in and experience it for yourself - makes you want to stick around, take it all in and then come back for more. Definitely a vibe with all it has to offer from the cute little dessert bar in the back, make your own olive oils and vinegar flavors with tasting stations and the non-intimidating department store feel to the entire store. I tell everyone about this place and it has never disappointed. Thanks so much, Julie and Mike, for creating a luxurious, yet affordable store that captures the essence of the 5 senses along with my urge to spend money!

I've been patiently waiting for the opening & it's finally here!…read more I have been driving past the Twisted Sugar sign for months wondering what kind of exciting things the establishment would offer. Well, they have finally opened their doors & I must say, I'm pleasantly surprised. Twisted Sugar has officially entered the soda-shop game in Idaho Falls. They have a well-thought-out drink menu that features over 50+ options, not including your own combinations. I look forward to visiting again soon to try one of the Twisters (Ice Cream Smoothies). The Pineapple Whip Twister sounds delicious. I tried the Peaches & Cream with a Sprite base. It was good but I wish the peach flavor would come through a bit more. There are also a ton of fun cookie options - ranging from your everyday chocolate chip to something a little more indulgent like Banana Cream or PB Nutella. I always start with a chocolate chip cookie at new places. I'm a firm believer that if you can't get a chocolate chip cookie right, I don't want to risk trying anything else. It was pretty good, I'll be back for the Banana Cream. I definitely think I made the right decision by joining the loyalty program on the first trip.
