Ok I'm not trying to be rude and take cheap shots for the sake of a review...but I don't get it? I don't get the praise and stars for this place? We went to Sweet Republic after dinner for a pallet cleanser and saw the reviews and stars and was excited to drop by. The store itself was simple and had the feel of a regular ice cream parlor with bright colors and board full of possibilities. It seems that the selection is pretty diverse offering a nice selection of flavors that are "off the beaten path" such as crème brûlée, brown butter pecan, and salted caramel, along with normal ice cream staples. These were "fine" but not earth shattering. When we walked in there were three teens behind the counter and no welcome or really even acknowledgment of our existence other than we were in line. Despite the collection of flavors we seemed to annoy them and "put them out" asking to try some of the flavors. The truly disappointing part was the lack of generosity of the scoops. It is $4.50 for a single scoop and it is just that a scoop. One slide of the spoon and what ever fills the bowl of the spoon is what you get. So each scoop was a touch bigger than a golf ball. At the End of the Day, I don't like comparing but I'm used to the Valleys selection of Handels franchises where they are generous with their scoops (they brag about it) and generous with their customer service and friendliness. No need to come back with better offerings near by! read more

We randomly picked this spot because we wanted ice cream and it wasn't too far. It was open pretty late for a dessert shop. We went around 7pm. Delicious ice cream and nice workers! I love all the unique and various options they have to pick from. I had the strawberry buttermilk and vanilla bean. It was super soft and the perfect combination. The decor inside matched how vibrant and fun the ice cream is with the bright yellow brick wall. I can see why the spot did so well that they have multiple locations and won awards! read more

It was our very first time trying Sweet Republic. After a nice meal, we craved for something sweet. This cute ice cream shop definitely did not disappoint us. They had some really unique flavors. I got the crème brûlée which was so delicious. My second favorite was the mango sticky rice (non dairy). The shop was very clean and organized. The corner of 16th and Bethany Home might be the best in Phoenix between Hobe Meats and Sweet Republic! Sweet Republic serves some amazing ice cream that is delicious and the perfect consistency. As a calorie counter, I want my cheat food to be worth it, and this is definitely that! Came in around 7pm on a Monday night and we were the only ones there...until we weren't. At least 10 others walked in and it was suddenly a party! My husband got the Ultimate Sundae which has a little bit of everything - and he said it was great! I got 2 scoops in a waffle bowl - Mango Sticky Rice and Berry Cobbler - the Mango Sticky Rice...that was phenomenal! The Berry Cobbler was pretty tasty as well. This little shop is brightly lit, clean, and is painted fun and happy colors inside. Despite being crowded we were helped quickly by staff who were fast and efficient and got their line down quickly. Our first time trying this place- I've driven by so many times and never noticed it! It's not hidden but nicely tucked into a small plaza. They let you taste test as many as you'd like. I tried the dark chocolate sorbet and the blue moon, and decided on the dark chocolate and the mint chip. I wished I had tried the mint in advance- the mint flavor wasn't strong at all. It was creamy but the taste wasn't my favorite. The dark chocolate sorbet was delicious! It tasted like it had little ice chips in it- yum! I will definitely get the blue moon next time- and maybe test a few more of the interesting flavors! The staff was really friendly and eager to help! Two scoops was around $6 bucks (and change), and it seemed like a very popular place with several folks coming in as we exited (and a number of people already inside!). I've been to the Scottsdale location a few times as I used to live over there but I don't think I had visited this one until today! I tried a dill pickle sorbet which was super interesting.
