Rude staff, 'wedding coordinator" not responsive and soooo rude, poor microphone, guest missed the vow exchange and announcement of bride & groom and wedding party, parents because the microphone didn't work, Worst DJ I have ever heard. If he still works there that's shameful! Forget about the 2 pages of songs the bride and groom gave him, he played the same 10 songs all night not to mention he smelled like he hadn't bathed for a week! . Photo booth contractor, only worked 1/2 the time. Promised a CD with all guests photos yet never received it. Tess made promises that she didn't keep. Hey Tess, what about the 'gifting' of the popcorn and s'mores bar? JK, I suspect she never intended to follow through. Perhaps they are too busy getting new contracts signed to focus on quality vs quantity. Hey Tess! If you don't want people in your house, maybe you should move the bridal room. EVERYONE was so rude when I went in there (MOB). If you read the 1 star reviews, they are true, seems to be consistent with SPR. Best part was the food, guest raved about it and the desert bar. We paid extra for specific beer, we had our choices yet also additional kind we didn't ask for! Double check what is promised! Follow up? I tried for weeks after the wedding to provide feedback to her (as a courtesy) I didn't expect anything from Tess. No response, she must have been busy conning other people to use her venue and how wonderful their wedding will be. As you can see by all these comments, it's a crapshoot, no guarantees. My only daughters wedding is over, no do overs! The bride and groom got an 8" cake that disappeared at the end of the night. they never got it. SPR staff hurried us off the ranch so we couldn't even double check that everyone got everything. We believe in the good in people and take their word, that was was a huge mistake here with Tess and her staff. You could literally tell the difference once they got our deposit, like a switch. Our guests left the wedding talking about not how great of time they had but about how rude the SPR staff was to them. Congratulations SPR, you all made quite an impression! We would not recommend this venue. If you want a country setting there are so many other 'ranches' in the SoCal area. Just a warning about SPR. Best of luck (because that's what it will be...luck, if all goes the way you planned) with Tess and SPR on your special day. Sorry for the shitty review, I have waited months for a call back before finalizing my review to discuss with Tess but 3 months later, I'm not waiting anymore, I am compelled to warn people. My suggestion to anyone looking to book SPR is Do your homework before choosing SPR. Yea, it's a pain but you will have a happier day. I recently attended a wedding at this venue in early October and was totally blown away. I am actually an event coordinator myself and newly engaged and I tend to be overly picky and notice all the little things that normal guests might not notice, and I found Sweet Pea Ranch an ideal wedding destination. My fiancé and I even met the owner Tess who was so personable and accommodating. The entire staff was great. You could tell their goal was to make sure everyone enjoyed themselves. There are so many great places for photo ops. The ranch is clean and well taken care of. The good was delicious upscale bar b q and the backdrop of the mountains is the cherry on top. read more

One of my good friends had her wedding here and the place looked amazing!!! There were a few little baby hiccups but what wedding doesn't and the workers at the ranch fix everything and made it fun especially Racheal! Racheal was going above and beyond to make sure everything was going smoothly and that all the people in the wedding party were relaxed and excited for my friends big day without Racheal there I think all of us girls in the wedding party would have been one hot mess!!! this place was great, I went here for a wedding last weekend. it was just perfect. Outside venue, with plenty of space. Family friendly with horseshoe's to keep the kids entertained while there is down time in between wedding events. I recently met Tess and Valerie and was given the opportunity to work at Sweet Pea as a venue assistant. From the moment I pulled into the ranch and seen the amazing barn, beautiful grounds and adorable Ranch house, I felt like I was in rustic wedding venue heaven! Having recently helped plan, decorate,coordinate, and host a rustic ranch DIY WEDDING for my son and his wife, I know all the time, effort and expense that goes into a wedding. Its a true labor of love. If an all inclusive, rustic wedding venue is what your looking for then this is your place!!!! My husband and I worked our fingers literally into blisters setting up market lights and hay bale seating for our sons wedding. Why not come to a venue where its all done for you? I certainly would have if id known about Sweet pea Ranch before. Having been behind the scenes as staff at a recent wedding here, I can tell you that every detail is thought of and executed for a flawless smooth wedding and reception for the bride and groom. I was so impressed by the beauty of the venue, the attention to detail for every aspect of the wedding and reception. The thing that stands out in my mind the most is the rapport Tess had with not only the bride and groom, but what seemed like the entire family. You could just tell they had worked closely together and had a genuine respect and admiration and fondness for each other. This place is a one of a kind venue. Tess is a sweetheart who genuinely cares about her brides and grooms wishes. She has very high standards for her staff as well as the vendors who offer services to the ranch for the day of the wedding. If something is not up To par, rest assures she will be on top of correcting it. What a wonderful wedding for my daughter! Sweet Pea Ranch is a great place with the feel of being far from the city. Late afternoon was even great on a hot summer day as it is cooler there with a breeze. The space worked so well with the ceremony out doors, then the guests moved on to the bar area for snacks while the wedding party had photos taken, then the food for dinner was very good! And dancing in the barn was so fun. All of our guests loved it too! read more

Well I gotta say I'm quite dissapointed at this place. I had an appt and didn't even stay for more than 10 mins for the tour....first, i would like to point out that it was very hard to have anyone answer the phone, i understand they havr other clients and their own lives as well but whats the point in voicemails options if you still dont return the call. At that point i felt that the attention I needed for the info was not happening unless I book the venue for the wedding. I called so many times, so many days and different times of the day. Anyways I had booked an appt few weeks ago but I had been on the phone with yess for more than 10 mins discussing on what and how I wanted my venue. The main thing that I wanted (from any venue) was that I wanted it to be "my wedding, my style" I clearly stated I wanted my own decorations (bought/ made by me) and my own floral arrangements (my mom is florist), everything else can be through the vendors. I was always speaking to tess, after hearing that she sounded so thrilled and supporting and how all weddings should be and look like how the bride and groom want, so thumbs up on that, then she asked budget. I also clearly said that just for the space (venue) mine was 5-6 grand. She said with the food and venue it would be a little above 6g close to 7, I said okay that's fine I had booked an appt but I didn't make it, we had gone up the mountain and there was sooo much traffic it took forever to come down. I know that missed appts take away the chance for someone else to take a tour so I felt bad and WENT anyways just to apologize for missing and not calling (no signal) she was fine with it and I told her my only day off in the weekday was coming up Tuesday and she said she would have to look at her calendar and call me back that same night. Of course no call, no callback on sunday nor monday nor tuesday. I had called myself and ofcourse no answer, called later in the afternoon and she picked up and apologized and blah blah and booked an appt for this sat. Well like I said before, I didn't even stay there for 10 mins. We begin the tour and the first thing this lady says is were an all inclusive vendor so we do everything. I stopped her right there and told her I want to do the decorations and floral, she says we can add a FEW touches but they do everything and the floral they would do to because they do it very simple. Then she shows me the prices and it's 17 grand. I was so furious on the time I had wasted to see thus place. Besides the fact that it does not look anything like the pictures, it's way too open and everything looks like a photoshoot set up. I don't even understand why I have to pay 17000 if your going to be VERY SIMPLE about the decor and floral ... I was so upset at the time I wasted and how let down I was. It doesn't even have to do with it being 17g, I can respect that and if I didn't want to spend 17g I can look somewhere else. But the fact that I had clearly said what I wanted from the start and looks like it went from one ear out to the other. Weddings should symbolize the personalities of the couple and their lifestyle, I will never support venues and vendors that don't allow such thing and only want to use what they use with EVERY other wedding they do and even charge you a large amount for it, it's not even unique! Sweet Pea Ranch is a beautiful rustic country feel venue with your barn and dirt and outhouse for a bathroom kind of feel! This place is ran by Tess the owner of the property and she comes off as the sweetest most kind and fun person in the beginning, but be ready to deal with a completely different person the week of as well as the day of! The planning of my wedding went somewhat smooth...in the beginning it was a little difficult to get in touch with Tess or any member of her so called team (which seems to change monthly) one day you're dealing with this lady and the next you're dealing with another! She will tell you time and time again "we got this, we will do everything in our power to make this exactly how you want" blah blah blah! Be ready to have a very vague contract in regards to what you can and can not have! You give her a budget and she will work within that budget but she will tell you in the beginning that certain things are included in that budget but when it comes down to finalizing and actually pin pointing certain things she blindsides you and tell you "oh no that's extra, your contract states this, please read your contract, I never said that was included!" So my advice to you if you really want to book your wedding there, record all meetings so when she tells you something later you can pull that bad boy out and show her that she did in fact say that! And also ask for a very detailed outlined contract so you know what you're working with from the get go and where your money is actually being spent! Her word means nothing and if she tells you yes that can be done please be prepared to be told no later! Her staff ranges and changes all the time! They don't know what they're doing and or is not briefed or told from Tess what was said or to be done! You ask them something and they act like they are clueless to everything! We were told from the beginning that the day of the wedding everything will be taken care of and you won't have to worry or stress about anything and it will all turn out beautiful! My wedding turned out beautiful because of my awesome bridesmaids and family! Tess and her staff did not lift a single finger in helping set up my decorations and in fact made us clean up everything after the wedding as well! You pay an extra 500 bucks to have them clean up and what not and my family, my self and my husband had to clean up everything while her staff sat around and watched us! Tess will tell you that you can have whatever alcohol you want at the bar and they will make sure it's on stock! Well when I went to get my favorite drink at the bar only to be told they didn't have it you could imagine how angry I was! When I found Tess to ask her why they didn't have the 1 type of alcohol I had asked for her answer was "they don't serve that strong of alcohol!" Hahaha are you kidding me?? Isn't all alcohol strong and what a liar stating she could have whatever I wanted! The alcohol I'm talking about is jäger and FYI they won't serve that there if you like that! She states that no shots are allowed but if she or her bar tenders knew what they were doing or talking about they would have been aware hat jäger and monster is a drink as well not only a shot! Thanks for ruining that part for me! I could go on and on about how horrible the staff and owner is of this place but I am not going to let those people who mean nothing to me ruin my very important day! For the most part my guests were happy and that's all I could ask for! Oh ya the food was the best thing that came out of this place! They have a fabulous bbq caterer and not 1 person said they didn't like the food! It was very delicious! And I will say Iron Heart flowers who is a vendor of sweet pea gave me exactly what I wanted for my flowers! Those 2 things made me happy and that's a lot more than Tess and her team could have done! One last note...she has air conditioning in her house that I was unaware of and she didn't offer to turn it on once while myself and the rest of my wedding party was sweating our butts off getting ready in there! I am just so unpleased by this business and how it's ran that I'm shocked that people are taking the chance at spending thousands of dollars for a headache and an unprofessional venue! I would not recommend this place for a wedding or any other special event! Unless Tess ups her game and changes some of her ways id be surprised if sweet pea ranch will be around for long! read more

Where do I start....when we met the owner and staff they created a warm friendly facade! The day we signed the contract and were informed one of the lead staff members had left, things drastically changed: voicemail always full, responses to text messages and emails were rare. Unbeknownst to my bride and I the name of the venue was changed to Cowboy West and the Sweet Peas months prior to our wedding. The outdoor venue decor became complete country western; we did not sign up for a honkey tonk style wedding venue, but that's what it has become. Weeks before the wedding several problems arose...the catering company Sweet Pea recommended had to jump through outrageous and unnecessary hoops, vendors were required to provide their own insurance and business license (florist, wedding coordinator, photographer, videographer, DJ and portable restrooms); some requirements we understood, but most were ridiculous. The owner and her side kick are the most unprofessional team to work with. The staff on the day of our wedding had no concept of customer service and were extremely rude to the bridal party and our guests, which should not have surprised us due to their leaders...Horrible Customer Service! In the end our wedding was beautiful....NOT with the help of CWSP, but with our amazing design team, coordinator, caterer, florist, photographer and videographer. If you are set on booking this venue plan on doing all the leg work...book your own vendors and DO NOT leave anything up to them. Beautiful venue, terrible staff. Our experience was consistent with the other reviews. Tess was flakey, hard to get a hold of, and lacking professionalism. Her day of team was rude, not helpful in the slightest and even insulting at times. It's strange that a person who could seem to care less about other people or the important events in their life would end up in this business. Though the venues itself was nice, after setting up yourself with ZERO help from anybody it hardly seems worth it. The house was hot and stuffy, no place to cool down, and hard to locate a cold drink, throw in being treated poorly an antagonized and one could really let it ruin their day. Luckily we could laugh it off and tune them out but if we knew then what we knew now that wedding would have gone down somewhere else. read more

Back in November my family had the privilege to hold a memorial event at Sweet Pea Ranch. I have a pretty big family and we were looking for this event to be more of a celebration than a sad vibe. Tess and the staff of Sweet Pea Ranch helped my family mourn the loss of a loved one by having an amazing family celebration. They were always quick to help us and helped maintain cleanness throughout the event. The Mexican food was excellent, the drinks were constantly being refilled with fresh fruit and the desserts were delicious. This venue definitely has a warm atmosphere that makes even a sad event become a happy and wonderful time. read more

Just had my Daughters wedding here 5/27/2017 The venue is a hidden diamond in San Antonio Heights. It was everything i could have asked for and more from the amazing people Tess, Valerie, Buddy the DJ and the rest of the crew including the dog. When you are considering a wedding this is by far the best value for your money they spend so much time making your day feel like it is their day as well. Upland Rotary just had it's yearly fundraiser, the Rotary Round Up, at the Sweet Pea Ranch. It was a fabulous experience. The setting was rustic and charming. The decor was beautiful, with white lights strung from the giant trees, and a fountain courtyard, which was perfect for dining and our live music. The food was real BBQ, cowboy style and just delicious. We finished the night off with our silent auction in the nostalgic red barn, and plenty of line dancing! Sweet Pea Ranch was such a beautiful venue for our daughters wedding in Sept. The staff really try to take the pressure off the bride & groom. They bring drinks & snacks and anything else you might need. Tess & Drake, The Ranch owners really work hard at making your day special. Drake was so on top of things the night of the wedding, a big thanks to him for how smooth everything ran. If you are looking for some place affordable then this is it. The food is included and it's really good. Looking back I would suggest you keep a running list of what you want to have at the ranch for your wedding, what they are providing and what you will need to bring the day of the event. Such a cute little venue but run by such an unprofessional and rude person. Tess treated my hired vendors in such an incredibly rude manner it put a damper on our special day. She told them they were not allowed to eat the food and that vendors were supposed to bring a sack lunch! I'm sorry, but my contracts with these vendors stated that they would be served hot meals and we paid for their meals! What right does she have telling my vendors this? So RUDE! She came off as a kind person when we first interacted for our initial tour but she is the most disorganized person and it really made a negative impact on the planning of our wedding and even on our wedding day. It was just so upsetting to hear throughout our wedding day and after our wedding from people we love and care about how rude she had been to them with little remarks and a controlling higher than you type nature. She definitely has a thing or two to learn about running a wedding venue business. read more

My Daughter was married hear in Oct. the venue is perfect if you want a rustic feel to your event, however you can not depend on the staff . Tess was next to impossible to get a hold of and you would have to wait forever for her to get back to you. And that was by text. She said she was the wedding planner, we'll plan no her doing nothing helpful. They don't give you a itemized bill and suddenly things that were included in the price quoted were now extra, there would of been a lot of undue stress if she stuck to her word. We were told we would get a list of venders we never got we had to order a cake the week before the wedding and pick it up ourselves the day of the wedding. The only person there that had any integrate was Drake . He was the only one that was helpful so that star is for Drake. The venue is pretty but unless she lets someone else manage the business I would not recommend it. She also brought guests into the home and told them about her rental properties, very unprofessional, they were there to attend a wedding not promotional opportunity for her.
