A super experience considering the circumstances. I was having foot surgery the next day so I wanted to get a nice manicure and pedicure - plus it was my birthday week! But that evening was the day where south Austin lost power for several hours and when I walked in I was a bit unsure if they could get it all figured out. Somehow there was just a bit of daylight in the front of the store and they finished me off with a portable light and their cell phones! It was definitely worth it. Nice ladies at Sweet. Will ask about your ethnicity if you're Asian. Haha. They're quick and efficient. I needed my nails done before a trip to Vegas. Sweet is close to my new home so I decided on a mani + pedi there. Two ladies worked on me simultaneously. I prefer traditional nail lacquer. Sweet has a limited color selection. The ladies pointed me to 1 tiny display of color options behind the cash register. Half of the colors were old and separating so that was disappointing. The gel nail color options was much better. The quality of the mani was below average. Square shaping was good. Minimal buffing to smooth out nails before polish. The actual color application was thick and uneven. I had to ask the manicurist to paint closer the sides of my nails and fill in some missing spots before the top coat. It's been less than a week, and half my nails have chipped. Luckily, the lady who did my pedicure was much better. She looked at and cleaned up my manicure too but even afterwards, I felt it wasn't great. Feels like skill set varies, and your experience depends a lot on who you get. $55 + tip. Credit cards accepted, tips in cash. No Venmo. I'm looking for my go-to nail salon in South Austin. I want to preface this review by saying that I never leave bad reviews, but I hope this helps just one person in the future to avoid this place at all costs. Thursday afternoon, there were probably 2 other customers other than myself in the salon. It was quite empty, so I know my lady wasn't rushing. Immediately I did not feel welcomed but initially I asked for a white tip in dip, and I wanted the straight tips because I like my nails a little bit longer and I don't like it when it curves. She didn't understand me at first but afterwards another lady found the tips I wanted and they said they have to charge me $5 (which is bizarre BTW, I get my nails done twice a month and at a ton of other places and have NEVER been charged for straight tips) to which I say okay that's fine. As she's doing my nails I notice immediately that this lady doesn't know what she's doing -- when you're doing the dip for white tips they have to manually dip the white part, she was on that part and on my 4th nail I knew I would've hated it, so I asked her to just remove it and give me like a solid color (less to mess up on) and I asked very politely & nicely. She gives me an attitude, proceeds to talk shit in Vietnamese (I'm fluent in Vietnamese and I guess with my mask on she couldn't tell, lol) . I ignore her this entire time and she's talking shit. Unfortunately for me, I rly wanted my nails done for a date I had. What I should have done was left, right then and there. For $55, (single color dip, I took my nails off before I got there, and I did square shape. WTF are these prices?!) and a $10 tip, I am so embarrassed of them. I would've been better off doing my nails on my own even though I have no idea how. They're all different lengths and my right hand's nails are all longer than my left hand's nails. The application is horrendous because in a lot of my nails you can see spots where there's no powder. It's bad. REALLY bad. Just go somewhere else, please. Went and got a pedicure on Sunday. It was the deluxe one so I knew it would be about 45 minutes to an hour. Ends up being over 2 hours. That wasn't an issue. It's a no. Walking in, it's a nice place. They have an electric sign in page which I guess tracks your visits, that's cool. Got a classic mani pedi and when I say this was the worst experience I've ever had, I'm 44 and I mean it. Where to start? The lady doing my mani cut my toenail and made it bleed. That's okay, it's a weird toe but she grabbed some kind of latex stuff which she put on it to clog the bleeding. I'm sorry, she grabbed that bottle too fast like she was used to needing it. She did not trim my cuticles, there was no jet on in the tub, no kind of soap or anything. That evening I noticed my whole toe was covered in that latex stuff. I had to peel it off and it took a while. When I say my whole toe I am not exaggerating. Then this lady doing my hands...she was worse and the other lady hurt me! Did a horrible job on my cuticles, looks like she didn't do them at all. Covered my nails in oil and they proceed to ask me to pay now, right after covering my hands in oil. So I'm like ‍ and she says I can wipe them on the towel. Same towel she's been doing my hands on with nail clippings on it but okay. Give them my card. She starts putting lotion on my arms. She slathers it on heavy. Barely touches my arms, definitely doesn't massage them. Literally leaves gobs of it not rubbed in. Then she goes to put on polish. I'm like, wait, can you wipe this off first? I feel like I'm being punked. She's like, you can do it if you want. I use the same towel to wipe off the residue that she's been using since the beginning. She paints my nails. Two coats in the other lady comes back with the card and paper for me to sign and my nails are totally wet. She insists I sign right then. They could have done that before they started painting my nails. I try to sign and mess up two nails. She wants to paint over these big smears and says I won't even be able to tell. I paint my own nails, I know there's going to be a huge lump there. So she removes the paint entirely because I resisted but I shouldn't have had to argue about that. No way painting over that was going to come out smooth. This whole time I just want this to be over. I'm sorry I came. Then they just wanted to leave me there in the chair and I'm like, can I go somewhere to dry? They point me over to the drying table. There is no one but me there, I should have known better, it's Saturday. The only nice thing I can say is that they applied the nail polish nicely. I go to Gorgeous Nails but I don't like to have just one spot. I'm sorry I gave this place a try. I don't think they liked me and didn't want me to come back. That is the only thing that makes sense because I couldn't believe this experience I had is the norm. That's too bad for them because I'm a great tipper. read more

Tried this place out for the first time. I have very little good things to report, unfortunately. Cleanliness- other than the tub liner and one of the foot scrubbers (they used two) nothing came out of a package and everything after being used on me, went back into their "spot" in the cart. They weren't set aside to go into the enclave or sprayed down. Perhaps they clean afterwards, but I can't say for sure and I didn't see anyone else who wrapped up before I was done cleaning their tools. The chair I sat in had stuff stuck to it too and even the menu could have used a wipe down. Gloves were used for the pedicure but not the manicure. Unfortunately you don't know what you have gotten into until you are IN the situation. Not much I could do at that point. Prices- a bit higher than average. For example, a shellac mani goes for around $28, it's $35 here. Quality- chunky and spotty paint job. See pics. Cuticles cut so low it was stung in two spots, I've never had that happen. Shellac nails were painted with a gap on top, which makes a refill needed faster- pet peeve. Scalding hot towels used to wrap legs, I love heat usually! Water temperature was inconsistent as well. Service was really superb and friendly, which makes writing this even harder of course. We didn't have the best communication, but we made due. White wine was served warm and was undrinkable. Chair worked well. Music was relaxing, it is as nice not to have TV noise. Massage- if you like your legs rubbed, not your feet, this is the place for you. I asked three times to skip my legs and that was all she would focus on. The massage was really long, due to a heated convo with the coworker next to her keeping her distracted. It didn't bother me, I ended up getting the better end of the deal, even if it wasn't my feet getting the love when badly needing rubbing. I get pedicures just for that, I can paint my own nails. I paid and tipped, but won't be back. I hate writing bad reviews, I really do. But if you are like me and you don't treat yourself often, I don't want you to feel slighted too. :-( Plus, potential health concerns aren't worth it. I was able to get a pedicure today without an appointment. The facility is huge so great for groups, whether you're wanting a mani or pedi. It's very clean and they offer complimentary drinks and adult beverages. They have free WiFi too. It's quiet and very relaxing. The staff is professional and I'm happy with my pedicure. The prices are reasonable. For a classic pedicure it's only $30. This included trimming, shaping, cuticle cut, exfoliating, and a leg/foot massage with oil followed by lotion. I definitely recommend! Was disappointed in my visit to this nail salon. I was surprised because it has such great reviews. I brought my mom here after looking up a lot of other places, and drove from north Austin to get our nails done here. Maybe it was just an off day, but it was an expensive one. My nail tech started working on my pedicure about 10-15 minutes before my mom's got started, so the person working on my mom rushed through her pedicure so she could keep up with the person working on mine. We both asked for the organic pedicure, which says 55 minutes, but my mom's was only 43 minutes (they did not give her the lotion massage on her legs at the end because she was being rushed.) My manicure was not the best. As you can see from my photos, the polish does not cover the entire nail, and the topcoat is VERY uneven across my nails. I attribute this to a rushed nail tech. It was not busy, so I don't understand why they were not taking their time with our services. They were very nice here, but did not help us feel relaxed. During my pedicure, she carefully worked on my cuticles because the last lady made me bleed. Uh! I just read on the website that the deluxe pedicure cost $45! That made me angry today because I wasn't planning on getting anything fancy that day. I told them I wanted the regular pedicure. But she had the pedicure set up and ready and was being pushy about it. I wasn't even told the price of the pedicure. And they also said you can choose from different scents I wasn't asked about the scent to choose from. I also read on the website that the callus remover cost extra money. I wasn't told it would be extra money there and had no idea. I thought it was part of the pedicure service. They told me to pick a color but I was overwhelmed at the wall as nail salons usually have swatches. Finally they brought me over 3 swatches with some bright colors but I didn't like any. When I sat down for the pedicure, I noticed the girl next to me had tons of swatches and the lady who was doing my nails didn't ask me if I wanted to look at any. Luckily I had found a color I liked on the wall anyway. The lady who did my pedicure was super friendly and did a great job on my toes. She is the reason for two stars. She was super sweet and took great care of me. The lady who did my nails was rough and jerked my hands around. She filed my nails so hard I could feel the heat on the sides. When she cut me the first time, she and I both noticed. Ok, accidents happen. But when she cut me the second and third time, I had enough. I let her finish the manicure because I thought I was being overly sensitive. Once finished and in my car, I noticed my nails were cut and filed terribly. She didn't even cover with top coat all the way. This upset me terribly considering I paid $75. I wanted to like this place a lot. Especially after the mostly great reviews. I will never come back here. The first visit wasn't terribly great, the lady was rough on my nails. I have short nails right now since I took off my acrylics and wanted a dip powder set and this is the worst dip I've ever received. 3 nails chipped within a couple days so I had to come back, and the rudest lady assisted me. Kept lightly slapping my hand to adjust it to her liking while filing (never had this issue I've been getting my nails done for 15 years+). Another client comes in while the lady is "fixing" my nails and the tech just rolls her eyes and shakes her head at her for no reason. Not sure what the attitude was about but made me feel uncomfortable. The "fixed" nails are pictured. But I'm thinking this will probably change once they get the bigger space. And lastly, I've gotten used to having wine with my mani & pedis and I'm not sure if they offer wine here because I've never been asked.
