Tomato beef noodle soup and popcorn chicken
Minna A.

The popcorn chicken is the best I've ever had, so light and juicy and tender. The noodle soup was also so flavorful, with the noodles tasting chewy and homemade. Broth felt clean and light. Would recommend maybe mild chicken instead of medium spice, but the medium spice for the broth was good!

Located in Richmond, and focusing on Taiwanese street food and dessert. We only tried their tofu pudding with yam balls for dessert. Their standard dinner menu looked good too. The tofu pudding texture was 10/5. Super silky and smooth. The yam balls tasted solid too. This must be a great go to spot for locals or those going to Richmond

i had the pleasure of visiting sweet memory again, this time i only got desserts and everything was amazing. this day, the store's credit card reader was down so they only accepted canadian cash. i went on a detour to procure some since i really wanted to get dessert here, and im very glad i did. the grass jelly with roasted peanuts was super authentically taiwanese. same with the tofu pudding and the add-ins. the taro mochi sesame pancake was also super delicious. i was so pleased with everything and also really enjoyed the taiwanese decor inside. i highly recommend and will definitely be back next time i'm in bc!

Really sold place for Taiwanese food. We stopped by at around 10pm for some dessert but got some snacks as well. The sausages were decent but the spicy marinaded pigs ear was very tasty. Very well seasoned and have a very nice crunch. Then we got the shaved ice with taro ball and brown sugar jelly. Shaved ice was very fluffy and both the taro ball and the jelly were chewy, sweet, we really enjoyed it. If you are craving some Taiwanese street food and dessert, this is the spot!

The food was salter and sweeter than we expected. We had 5 adults and we usually eat lots of Taiwanese food. I want to give them benefit of the doubt since their sister restaurant Memory Corner was delicious last time I went. The staff was very attentive and helpful. Traditional brown sugar shaved ice (with green beans and taro) has a banana flavor to it.

Double tea jelly (peach green tea, earl grey)

Ordered the hot grass jelly, sadly didnt have any toppings except for some peanuts but the consistency was great! Friend ordered double tea jelly (peach green tea, earl grey) and peach was much more flavourful than earl grey. Another friend got a strawberry condensed milk shaved ice with pudding and yam balls - do not recommend this as the strawberry is very medicine-like. Toppings were great tho.

Pineapple Shaved Ice

Perfectly nostalgic and authentic flavors, and honestly great service and a cozy environment. My friends and I dropped by with the intention of grabbing dessert, but ended up having a light dinner too. I got the pineapple shaved ice, which there was some confusion and they made me the pineapple slushy originally. I was a bit sad but didn't want them too have to remake it or chuck it so I said I'd just take the slushy. But they said it was okay and that they would make me the shaved ice, and don't worry about the slushy, they will "drink it" instead almost funny - but I really appreciates that level of service. And the pineapple shaved ice was everything I imagined it would be bringing back memories from my childhood in Hsin-Chu Taiwan. The noodle and rice dishes shared with friends were also amazing and a good price. Can't wait to visit again!

Finding authentic Taiwanese food in a city like Richmond, which is already full of amazing dining options, is not easy--but this place is truly a hidden gem! We stopped by at lunchtime at first, but they weren't open yet. Since we really wanted to try it, we called again in the evening to confirm their hours before heading back--and we're so glad we did. The service was excellent from start to finish. They were incredibly patient and took the time to answer all of our questions thoroughly, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The food did not disappoint. All the Taiwanese snacks we tried were delicious and full of authentic flavors. Our absolute favorite was the shaved ice--it was refreshing, perfectly textured, and just amazing! Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for genuine Taiwanese food and warm, attentive service. Definitely a 5-star experience!

This Taiwanese eatery was recommended by friends in Vancouver. Each person sitting must place their own order, no sharing permitted. We were a group of 8, and we asked if we could place 6 orders for the table and the server agreed to the 6 orders. We had just completed a big dinner. My favourite was the Triple Classic Tofu Pudding, it was so silky. I had also ordered a Osmanthus Oolong Milk Tea with Tapioca Gummy Cubes. It was served in a paper cup and lid as if it was a take-out. The picture displays a delicious cold creamy beverage, with a ton of toppings on the top. My drink seemed to have a ton of ice cubes, and it did not have the volume of tapioca gummies indicated like the photo. I was somewhat disappointed. My sister had the Strawberry Shaved Ice with condensed milk and it did not have a lot of condensed milk. I cannot understand the high ratings of other reviewers. We will not be returning to this eatery. Parking will be tricky to find on a Saturday night. Food 3/5 Service 3.75/5 Ambience 3/5

Guandong Boils

They barely have vegetarian meals. (Marinated dried tofu, Taiwanese seaweed salad, Shaved ice, Tofu pudding). The Guandong Boils have radish and cabbage. However, the broth is made by simmering kombucha, bonito flakes, vegetables, and sauce.

Came here based off a friend's recommendation on a recent Vancouver trip, and omg I have NOT stopped thinking about the peach green tea jelly dessert which I got here. It was SO GOOD. Just the perfect amount of sweetness for me, and great tea flavor. It was around $9 CAD, which is a bit on the higher side but acceptable to me given how good it was (they also give you quite a bit of it). I came here with a pretty large party (around 10 or so people), and we were able to get seated right away during off hours. Staff was very friendly in helping us put tables together as well as in general demeanor. Definitely looking forward to trying other items here on my next visit!

Not bad! First night in Vancouver, looking for a place to get some late night munchies. Luckily this place is near by the holiday inn and airport and opens late so this was the perfect place. Lots of traditional Taiwanese dishes and desserts, and the staff were attentive and gave great recommendations. Flavor may be a bit awkward for those who aren't used to it. The grass jelly was okay, not the best but still good. The custard tofu flower was very good and was my first time trying it. They don't put a lot of brown sugar in the sweetening sauce so the traditional tofu flower didn't have much flavor in the larger bowl, but did in the side desert dish that came with our noodles. They had a lot of toppings as well. It was around 1130 pm when we went and it wasn't too busy at all. Interior was small but decorative.

Strawberry shaved ice, tofu pudding and oolong tea jelly

Came here for dessert and walking through the door immediately brings you back to old Taiwan from the tables and chairs to the wall decor is very nostalgic. The menu offers many Taiwanese comfort food and desserts. We opts for their tofu pudding, oolong tea jelly and strawberry shaved ice. The tofu pudding was silky smooth and flavorful. I loved the strong soy flavor and simply paired with syrup that was not too sweet. The oolong tea jelly was refreshing and is a must have for any tea lovers. However, the strawberry shaved ice was a little disappointing. I felt the strawberry syrup tasted very artificial and it was overly sweet when combined with the condensed milk. The portion size was huge so we couldn't even finish half of it. The staff were friendly and very patient with us while we decide on what we want to order. Overall, we enjoyed the desserts and can't wait to come back to try out the savory items on their menu next time.

We ordered the soup with the expectation that it would be in some medium-sized bowl that the two of us can easily share. The soup actually was giant and is meant for a family. Luckily, it was absolutely delicious; the pork was super tender, the egg fits in perfectly, and the broth was tasty. Every drop was finished. The braised pork belly was also delicious. Tender and fatty, I wished there was so much more sauce for the rice to soak in. I'm also a super fan of pork floss, so loved its inclusion. The side is also noteworthy. The radish soup was so flavorful yet light, and the tofu was fantastic. Everything we ate was five stars on its own. Only panic was when paying our server said they only accept cash or debit? I only had credit cards and American money, but in the end, she was able to use my credit card. Not sure what that was about.

I wonder if it's also available on the weekends. It was available on Friday though. I wish there was the option to add pearls on the side for a price though. My set menu drink had no pearls. Not sure why that's not an option. Definitely a missed opportunity for the business imho. Oh... and the kimchi was a bit weird with the fact that it's overly sweet. Overall, good value and good food. Service depends on who you get. 3.5 stars

Vegetarian Three-Cup King Oyster Mushrooms on Rice…read more I've had this dish before and came back for another round. This time, I decided to level up and chose medium spice... a decision my taste buds are still discussing. Ordering is done through a QR code, and you can customize your dish -- with or without ginger, plus your spice level: mild, medium, or hot. The chef was very generous with the sauce and chilis this time. When they say medium, they don't mean "a little kick"... they mean "welcome to the chili party." The dish came with so many chilis that I started wishing there was a little more rice to help balance the heat. Thankfully, the restaurant serves hot tea, which became my superhero in a cup and helped calm down the spice attack. ‍ I clearly underestimated the "medium" spice level -- but spice levels are funny because they really depend on the restaurant. One place's medium is another place's "are you sure you're ready for this?" Still a tasty and flavourful dish, and I'll definitely remember to respect the chilis next time.

They're even friendly to vegetarians, with an entire page of the menu dedicated to vegetarian dishes. We had the popcorn chicken, the stir fried bok choy, the sha cha chao mian with lamb (the anglicized name for this on the menu is "signature ancestral herbal satay with fried noodles), and the noodle soup with beef brisket and tomato. For three people, this was the perfect amount of food for a hearty dinner. Our favorites were definitely the popcorn chicken and the noodle soup. The popcorn chicken was perfectly and delicately fried, SO JUICY on the inside, and seasoned just right with a lovely basil aroma. The noodles were toothsome and swimming in a gorgeous broth with the most tender beef. Stir fried bok choy is pretty standard but definitely a must if you want really any vegetables in this meal. Sha cha chao mian with lamb was good -- lamb was perfectly cooked, very tender. The noodles themselves are nice but the flavor is a bit one dimensional. Service here is really good. They are so nice, and very fast!

The soup was flavourful and I really enjoyed the wonton inside + the tender beef. The one that I definitely would recommend would be the lamb skewers!! It had some kind of dry rub on it to make it crispy and came with some savoury onions which reminded me of something you'd get on a Japadog. It was around $30 for the appetizer and main, and both dishes were very well done. (I haven't tried many Taiwanese beef noodle places but would recommend this one!)
