They also have a cute self-serve water and coffee station near the entrance, which I thought was a nice touch. I wanted to try a little bit of everything, so I picked up the banana cream pie, tres leches, a small peanut butter cookie, cinnamon bun bar, and blueberry cheesecake pie. Upon entering, there were no visible workers. I approached the self-order console. After I started ordering, a worker came out and gave me a simple greeting. I find being prompted for tips a bit annoying in a place where only very basic service is given. I ordered the Jasmine Green Milk Tea with pudding and a Cheese Ceylon Milk Tea with boba. Both are half sweet and less ice. With only 2 customers in the store waiting for their order, it took just under 10 minutes for my two-drink order to be prepared. I grabbed some paper towels (not napkins) from the dispenser at the pick up counter. The JMT had a good ice level...enough to know it's there and to cool the drink but not too much so that there is no drink. The creamer taste was a little too strong IMO...not balanced enough but was okay. The pudding was pretty firm and slightly sweet. The Cheese Ceylon Black Tea is slightly layered with the boba at the bottom, tea in the "middle," and the cheese foam at the top. I tried each layer separately before mixing them a bit. The flavors are all a little too gentle for me. The boba seemed unsweetened and was slightly hard (but not horribly so). The tea flavor was okay. I wouldn't get the cheese foam drinks, at least not at half sweet. Admittedly, I prefer a sweet cheese foam over a savory version. For the majority of my time sitting in the store and sipping tea, the workers were in the back.

Ok, here we go. I am judging Patagonia Empanadas against…read morethe real thing, and that's a high bar. So, four stars overall. And here's how we got there. I went in on a mission, sandwiches de miga that could take me back to my time in Argentina. Unfortunately, I got distracted by the empanadas. I ordered several, and they were all very good. Having spent time in Argentina, though, I have a particular standard for empanadas. There's something about the ones you get there, the freshness, the flavour, they just sing. Patagonia's came impressively close, not quite Argentina, but close enough to make me smile. Then, on my way out, I spotted what I'd actually come for, sandwiches de Miga. When I was in Argentina, I practically lived on these things, a few pastries, a big stack of sandwiches, and total contentment. Naturally, I bought some even though I'd just eaten. Two hours later, I couldn't resist anymore, and they were pretty goddamn good. I stretched those sandwiches across three meals, enjoying every bite and remembering the bakeries I'd visited. Were they exactly the same? No. But they came remarkably close, and sometimes that familiar taste far from where you first found it is its own kind of magic. Four stars. Because while everything I tried was good, neither the empanadas nor the sandwiches quite reached their Argentine counterparts. Would I go back? Absolutely. In fact, I wanted to, but I ran out of time before leaving the area. Next time, I'm heading straight for those sandwiches de Miga. How does that sound?
