I ordered a baby shower cake with Jessica, with the request that it be fall-themed. I also sent her pics of 2 cakes to give some ideas of what we were looking for. After some back and forth in which she researched some other fall themed ideas, we finally settled on what I thought was the perfect fall baby shower cake! In actuality, the cake was even better looking than I expected. There was great detailing on the leaf and pumpkin decorations, and the buttercream had a good rustic look going on. In terms of tastiness, the mom-to-be was pleasantly surprised the cake was one of her favorite flavors, honey-lavender. Where do you ever see lavender available as a cake flavor, let alone real bits of it in the cake?? Also glad Jessica was able to do our design in buttercream, as we're not big fans of fondant. If I could give more stars, I would. I live outside Philadelphia and was looking to have a dozen cupcakes delivered to my daughter living in Brooklyn. These cupcakes were a family tradition of chocolate cake with green buttercream icing. Not only did Jessica and her team do an extraordinary job, but they also went out of their way to deliver the order on a Sunday evening (my daughter's birthday), and when no one was home at the scheduled delivery time (our fault), they made a second trip later that evening! I would like to begin by saying that my review is going to be 100% honest, and l rate her and her husband (especially him) professionalism at 1.5 stars. I believe that Jessica does amazing work, but unfortunately, I was unable to receive a cake and experience that "wow factor" that every customer has probably had with her. Let me repeat, I did not get my cake. My boyfriend and I were planning to get a custom 2 flavored cake for my birthday (which is today), and we stumbled upon Sweet Indulgence Cakery. Let's just say that we've contacted many bakeries, but the vibe that we received from Jessica, from the very beginning, made us feel like we could always work with her for every future event (pending on how our first cake turned out). I really liked her that much without even having one of her cakes! So I decided to do away with the other bakeries and stick with her. My boyfriend was also excited to work with this couple. Now the cake was going to be designed and pretty much going to come from my boyfriends' ideas. I originally contacted and began much conversation with Jessica because I wanted to know if the cake could have more than 1 flavor and so forth (which she can do). So after all of the choosing of the flavors and discussing the layers of the cake, and date of pick up with Jessica, she confirmed that everything could be done. So now this email chain was passed on to my boyfriend to compete the rest.... From what I was told, Jessica and my boyfriend kept in contact frequently from the early part of March to the day that we thought would be pick up day, MARCH 24TH. The day of pick up, Jessica's husband reached out to my boyfriend on March 24th discussing the cakes pick up for March 25th (Which was COMPLETELY WRONG) it was for March 24th (side note, my boyfriend and Jessica just had a conversation about the cake on March 23rd and discussed the pick up time for Friday the 24th). What my boyfriend didn't like about him, is that he seemed a bit indignant as if we were the one's who were trying to put them in a tight spot. He was basically telling my boyfriend that the cake wouldn't be finished until Saturday (today) and that our "email" confirmed a pick up for March 25th (wrong AGAIN). My boyfriend was already on his way over there and as they hung up, Jessica started texting him and was being apologetic because of her mistake and she made a mistake on our cake. She confused my pick up date with my actual birthday. She proceeded to tell him that the cake was just going in the oven. Now this was in the 12 to 1 o'clock hour and the cake wouldn't have been ready until about 8:00pm.....Now, I live in NJ. Im closer to Pennsylvania. So could you imagine what that would've meant for my boyfriend? Who travels every Friday to NJ? All in all, there was a lot of back and forth with text messages and phone calls between Jessica texting and her husband calling my boyfriend constantly and the flooding of apologies to her husband actually wanting to meet my boyfriend at the train station after he requested his refund on an order that was not fulfilled. This goes to Jessica and Edward, we have accepted your apologies, but I'm still a bit disappointed as I am out of a birthday cake. I thank God that i did not have an event, and this was just to be shared with family members. I think anybody would be upset being in my shoes. Especially when they decided to do away with other bakeries and take a chance with you guys. This was very unprofessional at its most, and I'm sure you guys could've of thought of ways to resolve the issue. To tell you a few things that I would've done if I were a Bakery, catering, etc., I would have kept my promise if that even meant doing everything that I could to not let lifetime customers down. We weren't expecting anything to be free. Hence the reason, we paid. We just wished that this had a better outcome. read more
