I was on the hunt for a bakery that was still open when I got off work, specifically one that had cupcakes. I was celebrating 2 birthdays in my family, but they're both out of state so I wanted something small that I could indulge in by myself. What a cute neighborhood gem!! I'm so glad I found Sweet Impastries on Yelp! As with any bakery, there are slim pickins towards closing time. I made it here with about 15 minutes to spare. I got to chatting with Dana, who happens to be the owner. She is so sweet!! I am not one with dietary restrictions, but I am all for trying almost anything at least once. I like some vegan things even though you all know I'm not vegan. This bakery is gluten-free and I think some items are also dairy-free. I got 2 of the mini Tiramisu Cinnamon Rolls and the nut-free Carrot Cupcake. I told myself I'd only eat half of each, but I ended up eating the entire cupcake! No shame here. The cupcake was flavorful but mild. You can tell it's made with the finest ingredients. I'm glad I didn't taste all that sugary artificial stuff in most sweets these days. I did eat half of one of the cinnamon rolls after nuking it for 30 seconds as instructed by Dana. Ohhh myyyy goodness!!! I had to stop myself from eating the other half!! It was so goooood!! Not super sweet and it tastes absolutely divine! They also cater, so please do consider them or spread the word to those looking for a gluten-free bakery. As a celiac girly, I was really excited to visit and try this bakery, but after our first experience, I'm honestly not sure if I'll be back. I'm not sure if it was assumptions being made or discrimination, but the experience felt off from the moment we walked in. We entered before another couple and were clearly separate parties, yet the man at the counter chose to assist the couple who came in after us first. He was very polite, attentive, and friendly with them, while we were left standing there feeling overlooked. They were able to order, check out, and leave before we were even helped, despite us arriving first. We still decided to support the business and tried a few items. The brownies were unfortunately very dry, though the cinnamon rolls were delicious. The only issue was that we were asked if we wanted them warmed up, and after saying yes, they were still served cold. Overall, the whole experience felt unwelcoming, almost like they just wanted us out of there. It was uncomfortable watching the difference in treatment between the white couple and us--it didn't feel the same, and it was hard not to notice. Parking 5/5 This is a very busy plaza and parking can be challenging but today we arrived ~ 3:15 and spaces were available. Service 5/5 Great employee greeted us and shared information about the business and variety of products offered. Food 5/5 Lots of options and trying them all wasn't in the diet for today. Nothing is free anymore. Not even the gluten! When Joyce saw this on Instagram, she forced us to go the next day. She has a friend and colleague that is gluten sensitive and since we were heading to a pool party at her place, she found it as a good reason to stop by this place. It's a cozy place. All the items are gluten-free and they have some vegan friendly options as well. While the ladies enjoyed all the treats, I found myself missing the gluten. Texturally it's just not the same. We met the owner, Dana, & she told us how she ate at a gluten free bakery in Spain & then contacted them & paid for their recipes to start this bakery. We bought A LOT of treats here & everything was amazing & safely gluten free. She also told us about a Chinese restaurant on the same parking lot that has safe gluten free food. I decided to try this new gluten free pastry shop to give it a chance. I tried the mini cookie and mini chocolate cake bite. The mini cookie was extremely dry, and not fresh. It's not what i expected but oh well. I was not able to eat the mini cookie. The cake bite was better-not amazing, but not as dry and went well with tea. There are only a handful of places in the area that specialize in gluten free, so if you have celiac or a gluten allergy, this is a good option. I don't not have either; however, I've tried products from other gluten free businesses because of curiosity. Some have been amazing, and some have been misses. The pistachio rookie from Sweet Impastries falls somewhere in the middle. It's basically a cookie stuffed with a cinnamon roll. This is sounds like a good concept, and I will say that it had a good exterior crust, but the cinnamon roll inside does nothing for the cookie. The cinnamon roll not only tasted dry, but I think this also caused the cookie to eat slightly dry ... think a baked dough that is then wrapped in another dough and baked again. The result will most likely be a dry interior. If they could swap the stuffing for like a cream cheese filling, buttercream like filling, oreo filling, or cake ball like filling, I think this would be better. Just my opinikn. Also I would note that their cinnamon rolls are much much smaller in person, so therefore a quarter of one is extremely small. For $6.95, I'd pass on the rolls. read more

Sweet Impastries opened just a couple of days ago, last Saturday, so I was super excited to come try it! Make sure you follow their instagram for updates as they have sold out early each day! I came during my lunch break and there was a line, but the line moved quickly and there was a large abundance of baked goods. I got a carrot cake cupcake (vegan), a pistachio cinnamon roll stuffed cookie, an Oreo cookie, and a salted caramel brownie. I can't believe everything is gluten free!!! Sat 10:00a and the place was very busy with a line almost out the door, but it moved quickly. We got several items: tomato pesto focaccia, caramel pecan rookie, classic cinnamon role, and mixed berries cheesecake. All were very tasty and I'll definitely be back for more treats in the future. The flavors were great, if maybe a little muted. I'd say it was all on par with or better than some of the more expensive stuff I've gotten from Whole Foods and Sprouts. We GF folks know not all GF stuff is created equal, but this place is making tasty treats that are definitely in the upper tiers. If you're GF you really need to pay this place a visit. I don't have a gluten allergy, and I understand the flavoring troubles for gluten free stuff. My aunt is probably the best gluten free baker I've ever had. The walk-in concept was a little confusing (the layout). I could see some people were not sure where to order or where the line was. They also don't have any labels on the glass to tell you what's what. There is a display at the front window that has the labels facing outside of the store. I'm sorry but no one is going to stand in the heat to look at the display outside of the store. This display case was for the cupcakes, muffins and mini-cakes. Also, nothing was priced. People had to keep asking how much something costs. They also make coffee here, which it shows the types they make but again, no costs for them. My favorite pastry was the cinnamon bun with the apple on top. The apple tasted very fresh and crisp. I ate mine cold and it still tasted really good! My latte was a bit sad, the cup was filled majority ice, and tiny ice cubes, so it was difficult to drink from the mouth opening. I didn't really care for the rest of my order. The cookies had almost no flavor. Not really my kinda place, but I wouldn't mind trying again when they're more situated and organized. read more

The service was great, and the space is small but cozy, with an open view of the baking area. While we were there, we saw some employees weighing out cookie dough, which added a nice behind-the-scenes touch. We ordered three items: the Catalana Cream Cinnamon Roll, the cheesecake with berries, and the carrot cake. Everything looked delicious, and we were hopeful. Unfortunately, when we tried them about 5-10 minutes later, they all tasted like they were a bit old. I made the purchase around 11:30 AM on a Monday, so we expected the items to be fresh. The cinnamon roll was okay, but definitely had that "day-old" flavor. The carrot cake had a strange spice profile and also tasted overly dry. The cheesecake didn't resemble a typical cheesecake in flavor. To make sure it wasn't just me, I had my friend try each item as well--and she agreed. I ordered a Carrot Cake for Valentines Day for my wife. The owner emailed me a list of flavored icing and asked me to pick one. I picked one and then I got a reply my selection didn't go well with carrot cake. I said just make it the way you think it will taste best, I trust your opinion. The invoice arrived while I was at work, I paid the $92.06 for the 8" cake without actually opening it and reading it. When we cut into it, it was a red velvet cake. Charity was a wonderful help and was really sweet and helped everyone really well. She talked up the food and I was really impressed. I'm definitely going to be coming back. Sweet Impastries has delicious cinnamon rolls that taste so good that my non-GF family loved them too. Definitely a little hidden gem of a bakery with very nice staff. I've tried several gluten free bakery items in the valley, and this one has to be one of my favorites. My wife who isn't even gluten free really loves the cookie brownie! My favorite is the cinnamon rolls. They are not dry and are very soft and have a great flavor. They are best ate heated up for 20 seconds at home :) We really look forward to coming here and trying new items! As someone who has celiac and has been eating GF for over a decade, as well as having my own gluten-free micro bakery, the hype of this cute little pastry shop did not meet my expectations. I went in this morning with my aunt and cousin (this was all of our first times here) and we order a little of everything. We got an iced regular matcha latte, 2 iced strawberry matcha lattes, one of each of the three types of focaccias, a pistachio rookie, a chocolate olive oil cookie, a cinnamon roll, and a chocolate raspberry muffin which is more like a cupcake. Unfortunately every single food item was dense and dry which was such a disappointment having arrived to the shop within 10 minutes of them opening. I know just how moist, light, and fluffy gluten-free baked goods and treats can be. The matcha lattes were as expected to be, but nothing to rave about. The staff was very friendly and great at describing different items and helping you select something you might like. All in all, this shop has a great staff, the treats are a good price for gluten free, but the food is such a disappointment due to how dry, crumbly, and dense everything we tried was. read more
