It's been months since I came to this place and I realized I have not wrote a review on it. So here I go. I was able to try this play so before I went to a friend's wedding. I found this restaurant and After. A little exploring And going the wrong way.I decided I'll get something to eat. And after I made my order the young lady had call me back and said that they were out of a certain thing that I ordered and ask me if I wanted something else and I said yes. When I first arrived it was amazing. It was a restaurant and a general store all in one. And The young lady was very kind to provide me any chocolate of my choosing and I chose a Smores flavor. I personally want to say that this place has the best chocolate i've ever tasted. And they have so many flavors. If any time that you are in morganton , you've got to give this place a try. It was so amazing and the ambience here was top notch. This place has me wanting to come back any time I come back to North Carolina. This is one of the best places to try in Morganton, North Carolina. read more

Got seated waited 30 minutes just to get a drink and had to walk over after 30 minutes just for a menu.and the table was sticky also waited a hour for food and it still wasn't ready. The Reuben is a good sandwich, it was a little soggy but maybe I ate it too slow. My boyfriend said the pancakes weren't good, no flavor. I probably would have given a better review but it was the first time there and the two women who were serving decided to make comments about the female cook in the back. I don't know if they thought we weren't paying attention or didn't care. The cook called out that food was ready and our sever said "she's said that three times" to someone down the steps in the store they have, and then gossiped with the other server before going and getting the food. Maybe you should have grabbed the food the first time she called it so it wouldn't be sitting in the window. read more

Stopped in here for breakfast and had a delightful meal. When you first walk in, you see the Morganton General store, and this cafe is hidden in the back up some stairs. We went up to the register and ordered a very tasty French toast sandwich and biscuits/gravy meal. The French Toast sandwich was surrounding some perfectly cooked country sausage that really hit the spot. The Biscuits and Gravy meal was huge, and very flavorful. We will definitely return to try out the scones and hopefully make this part of our regular rotation as a breakfast spot. read more

Just enjoyed a quick brunch with my amazing wife. Swede's was the perfect spot. We both enjoyed a great meal. She ordered biscuits and gravy with sausage patty. Aaaaamazing and I ordered an egg sandwich of sorts, can't remember the name but I think it was called the Harvey. All I know is it had grilled onions!! Everything from the toast, bacon, eggs and melted cheese was made perfectly. The young ladies working there take pride in everything they do. When I ordered a Milky Way coffee one of the ladies was excited to make it for me. That's a good feeling. That too turned out great! Thanks Swede's. Ya'll done did good. read more

I really like this place for breakfast sandwiches. It's inside the general store on the 2nd floor. Plenty of street parking and a lot right behind it so it's easy to come here. I've tried several sandwiches like the harvey melt and their french toast sandwich and they are both really good. Staff is friendly and prices are reasonable. It could be 5 stars but just a couple of issues that prevent that. They can get easily overwhelmed. We have been here with maybe 4-5 tables occupied and a 45 min wait for breakfast sandwiches. Probably short staffed or something, but still seems excessive. Also I wish the coffee was accessible by the customers and not kept behind the counter. This makes it easier to get a refill when you are waiting 45 min. Overall very good though and we will continue to come. Will need to try their lunch options some day. read more

A quaint cafe over a General Store. How delightful this is! The General Store is a place to slow down and enjoy the items. I did not intend on shopping there but I HAD to! Visited this place for breakfast one morning and I was very impressed with the service and quality. I ordered the honey lavender latte which was amazing. It had the perfect balance in flavors - highly recommended if you like coffee with a unique flavor or to try something different in a boring coffee routine. The breakfast croissant was delicious as well; freshly made and perfectly cooked it was a great way to start the day. If you're in the area or just passing through in the morning I can't recommend this place enough. The service is friendly and helpful. The reason this place is so busy is the great service given by Karen and her co-workers! By recommendation I tried the chicken salad croissant! I had iced tea with it and it tasted like some of the best iced-tea I have had in a long time! The tasty chicken salad sandwich that had raisins and nuts mixed into it was filling and was satisfying! This place was terrible. We went based on the reviews being mostly very positive, but I'm starting to wonder if they're real reviews. I asked if the chicken on the chicken quesadilla was shredded (I tend to only order shredded chicken on things from restaurants since it's typically "real" chicken that way and not the rubbery, precooked junk from the grocery store), and she said it was, so I ordered that. When it arrived, it was not shredded and was the nasty, rubbery chicken they'd obviously not cooked themselves. I took it off, and I was left with a dry tortilla with a sprinkle of cheese. My husband had a sandwich on a croissant and said it tasted like it was all just reheated from the grocery store as well. Ordered a water and never got it. No one brought a check, so we waited at the register for an employee to come out so we could pay. The place was clean and the server was nice, but the overall food and attentiveness was really bad. read more

I would just like to let everyone know what sweeds and morganton general store is really like. I witnessed a screaming match between the store manager and her daughter in the parking lot. Could use better wifi, other locations downtown that have the same sit-down and chill environment have better food, prices, and internet. Yummy, yummy, yummy. We were driving through Morganton from Banner Elk back home to Charlotte. We wanted something yummy for lunch and we wanted to support a small business...so we saw the reviews on Yelp and decided to go in. It was amazing!!! The ladies working we so sweet...I love the south. The food was delicious, get the pork sandwich!!! They use a cheer wine sauce on the pork and delicious does it no justice it was so much better than delicious. I had the gravy biscuit, which is not its name on the menu but it was sooooo good. On our way to Bryson City we stopped by Morganton to walk around. We came across this gem of a place. It's a 2 in one 1 place. The bottom part is a store meanwhile the top part is a cafe. My mom and I had Beth's French Toast Sandwich and Harvey's Melt. We both loved every bite of our sandwich. Their coffee is majestic. Definitely worth it! Stop on by! read more

What a cute little gem! This little coffee bar upstairs in the General store is delightful. Nice, quiet spot for a really good cup of coffee. Lots of good choices for coffee; pretty limited on tea options if you're not a coffee drinker. We came in for a Sunday breakfast. They have a number of options for breakfast sandwiches, which were tasty and freshly prepared. The fresh scones looked really good--just wish they had some without icing. The General Store is not to be missed, also. Lots of great finds, including peach Nehi! Took us almost an hour to quit browsing and get on the road.
