Food was delicious, very trendy nice breakfast place in Hickory. My peanut butter chocolate overnight oats was so decadent. My husband really enjoyed his killer sausage and biscuit dish. Would have given it five stars but the service from our waitress was just so bad. She took forever to bring us coffee, we can forgive that no problem, but she wasn't really listening when my husband was ordering and brought him the wrong dish. Then she told him "Well, it's because we have two dishes called killer" , he made it very clear though that he wanted the sausage biscuit one, not the pancake one. We understand that too, but the problem was that we had to wait a long long time for them to bring the right dish to him. Then at the end she brought over the Bill and made a weird point that she didn't charge us for the wrong dish... Wow really? thank you for not charging us for the wrong dish! I think maybe she's new to waitressing. Anyway, it put a damper on our experience there. But weirdly, I would still recommend this place to people, just based on the food.

Great, clean food and super accommodating staff! My daughter's potatoes were a little too spicy, and they had no problem swapping them out. We left feeling refreshed--not overly full. The almond milk lattes were delicious, the kids loved their pancakes and bacon, and my avocado toast was perfectly done. Definitely a spot we'll come back to! We saw someone getting little fried donuts with caramel--didn't order them this time, but definitely will next time!

Traveling from Asheville to Burlington, our hunger kicked in right around Hickory so we exited the interstate and drove around town. We saw this place looked pretty popular so we parked and headed in. Wait staff was great and the food totally hit the spot. Maybe hit several spots. Biscuits and gravy, sausage, potatoes, and eggs, and wonderful coffee. Glad we stopped by.

We were the first one there and wasn't too sure if they were open. The interior was beautiful and they have outdoor seating. The food was good, the crisp fries with the sauce was good. They have jalapeno sausage and it was good to. Service was very quick and helpful! Will be back! So if you're in the area, stop by and give it a try

A cute vibey spot! 4 stars because the service even though slow they were VERY nice and accommodating. The food was pretty good too. They just need more help and that's tricky. Or have servers pre bus tables because almost every table was dirty

What a cute breakfast/brunch spot right in downtown hickory. Service was excellent, my Bloody Mary with bacon was yummy and the eggs Benedict was perfection. Think this place is fairly new but we're so glad we happened upon it. I don't have a single complaint about this place. I really enjoyed my eggs Benedict and the egg was cooked perfectly. Love when the yolk breaks and coats all the stuff with buttery, yolky goodness. Makes my mouth water just thinking of it. Definitely will be making this spot my regular when I visit the fun and cute Hickory.

Ambiance was great and the food was okay. Our waiter could have been friendlier and more attentive. But we loved the decor and feeling of this place. We both asked for eggs over medium and got eggs with broken and hard yolks. The breakfast potatoes were not freshly made, that I could tell. Probably frozen Ore-Idas. The avocado "toast" was a bagel. Not great. Loved the London Fog tea. Everything was presented well, but the quality was so-so. Now they need a good chef to prepare really well-made dishes with fresh ingredients to be presented on all those pretty dishes.

My new favorite breakfast place! The inside is super cute, the service was great , and so was the food/coffee. We both had the veggie skillet came with a side of pancakes that were delicious!

I don't think I'm that picky over coffee but that was the worst cold brew I've ever had, I felt compelled enough to make a yelp review. Food was fine though, had a Bacon Egg and Cheese. Potato fries had some heat. Great service!

Iced mocha latte

We finally got over to try out Frothy Rooster and it was awesome. The breakfast plate was delicious and the foamy buttermilk syrup was awesome. Service was great and the restaurant was very nice and roomy. Our macchiato and latte was tasty and the espresso was not overwhelming

Such a cute place! I love the vibe. You can come in and grab a coffee to go or sit and eat.

Duke’s Restaurant and Wine Bar

First time here, sat at the bar. great time, amazing food, great service! all around an amazing…read moredinner! our bartender was very informative, he recommended a pumpkin spice espresso martini, which was literally the best one I've ever had in my life!!!! the we split a bottle of mascato (so reasonably priced, $22). The vibe was a guy playing piano who sang so well! we enjoyed the dimmed lights and the lowkey vibe atmosphere with it being classy. overall great dinner!

Disorganized and Disappointing…read more We had high hopes for Duke's, especially with its upscale vibe and menu, but the reality fell far short. From the moment we sat down, things started going sideways. First red flag? The water left on our table had bugs floating in it. Not a great start. The waitress, while friendly, seemed completely overwhelmed--she forgot our orders multiple times, asked the same questions repeatedly, and left us waiting far too long between check-ins. It took 40 minutes just to get our soups, and the entrees didn't arrive until over an hour after we ordered. The entire experience felt chaotic. At one point, another server brought two dishes and a drink to our table that weren't even ours. Total confusion. Now let's talk about pricing--specifically, a $12 charge to split a 24 oz ribeye. How does that make sense when one person might not even be able to finish it? It felt like a greedy upcharge for no real reason. Menu clarity was another issue. The sides weren't listed clearly, and no one explained that the "loaded potato" option was actually a soup--not an actual potato. The clam chowder? It's a tomato-based red soup, which is definitely not what most people would expect when ordering chowder. A simple explanation from the staff would've gone a long way. The duck was actually fantastic, the crab cakes not so much. Dessert was also oddly handled. They offer a brownie, but ask, "Is that okay?" as if there are other options (there aren't). Then they bring one brownie split four ways--literally bite-sized portions on a single plate for a group of four. It felt more like a sampler than a real dessert. When it came time to pay, we were asked if we were ready for the check, but then they came back later and had to double-check everyone's order just to get the bill right. And instead of bringing the check, you're told to scan a QR code to pay--likely a move to avoid credit card processing fees, though it puts the burden on the customer to complete the transaction. Overall, Duke's tries to present itself as upscale, but the execution just isn't there. Sloppy service, confusing policies, and unnecessary upcharges make it hard to justify a return visit. Definitely not the dining experience we were hoping for.
