I have worked out in all of the gyms in North County over the last 20+ years. Sweathaus is, by far, the best facility that I have ever trained in. We have been very pleased and excited about SweatHaus' new concept. Having an elite space like this to train in has been godsend for us. Now that it's open 24/7 and there are no daily classes, you no longer are fighting for space and equipment. The crowds seem to be spread throughout the day leaving more access to everything. I can't say enough good things about this place! I started coming here in December of 2017 on a trial. After I saw the amount and quality of equipment they had, I stuck around. I would say the gym is a weight training gym mixed with Crossfit. They also have spin, yoga rooms, saunas... well I guess you could just say they have everything! The best and my personal favorite is that all of the equipment is clean and well-maintained. All of the machines are Hammer Strength so they are great quality. There's also never a lack of plates, there are more than enough to go around. The owner and staff are also incredibly nice and attentive. They have their contact information posted on the door so if there are any issues you can call or text. The issues always get resolved immediately. They also keep a close watch on who comes and goes out of the gym, because it is Members Only. This is appreciated especially with it being a 24 hour gym. This also not the type of gym where people come and stand around and socialize on the floor. Everyone is incredibly nice to each other, but mostly keep to their own. All of the members come in, get their workout in, and head out. If you're on the fence, or need a new gym, give this place a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

This gym started out good, but over the months and in the course of a year, it has gone downhill. My problem is the cost. I cancelled my membership and I am being charged a final month according to my "contract". I can tell you that the paper that I signed had nothing about costs and charges. The fee I signed up for was an all inclusive payment, meaning that I paid for the gym AND unlimited classes. Now, I am being charged $20 out of the blue for the unlimited classes for my last month. They argued with me that I have always been charged this fee. Yeah, included on my monthly fee.... Now I have to go in and argue this with bank statements. I know it is only $20, but it is the principal. I is a shame that this gym is being run this way. It is a great facility, but the total operation is self interested and not about the consumer. read more

I went to this gym for about two years, and initially loved my experience. I left in order to pursue graduate school, but honestly I'm glad my membership ended when it did. First the pros: The instructors at SweatHaus were absolutely phenomenal, and the front desk staff were great. The gym is fantastic, the classes are great. I lost 50 pounds in my time there, and learned so much about exercise and about my body. I learned proper form and techniques that I know I'll be able to use confidently now. Now the cons: There were a lot of questionable, and in my opinion unnecessary, administrative decisions (e.g. changes in membership prices, the introduction of the 23 program, taking away PlayCare, changing gym hours) made without consulting SweatHaus patrons beforehand. I think a lot of people were unhappy with these changes, and that could have easily been solved by conducting a survey beforehand or something. There was also a lot of staff turnover throughout my two years here; I saw some of my favorite instructors and front desk staff come and go, and it was sad to see. To the consumer, it seemed like a pretty anxiety-inducing work environment to be a part of. All in all, there were a lot of things that I really loved about my experience at Sweathaus, but I do not think I will be returning. read more

I'm sorry to give a one star review, but I'm really disappointed with how this gym has turned out. After working out at LA fitness, this gym was a nice change and I signed up for a membership in April or May of 2016. The classes were great and I thought $59 a month was worth it! Unfortunately, the first issue I had was when they changed the class schedules a few months ago. They took the latest yoga class off the schedule that was at 8 or 8:15 pm. After the class times changed, I couldn't make yoga anymore. I would occasionally attend a HIIT class here and there after the schedule changes. Another thing that kinda bugged me is that some instructors here are either rude or kinda creepy, or both. Some are great, but there's a couple that I would purposely avoid. The employees at the front desk were pretty nice. I decided to cancel my membership originally at the end of December 2016. I filled out my cancellation form and gave it to the front desk. The guy at the desk (can't remember his name) said that it would be processed. A couple weeks after, I changed my mind and to my surprise when I asked if I could restart, they told me the cancellation had never been processed...it was ok then because I wanted to continue but still, if I hadn't changed my mind, that's not ok. Fast forward a few weeks later. I received an email Feb 14 or 15 stating membership prices were going to change to $89 a month for unlimited classes or $59 to just use the gym. If you had a membership already, you could pay $79 for unlimited classes. I decided to cancel because I'm not paying $59 for an elliptical and a few weight machines and I'm not going to enough classes to make $79 worth it. I came in the next morning after this email and cancelled my membership. The guy at the front desk specifically told me I would have my membership cancelled before my next billing date (March 3) with all the membership changes, they were processing them quickly. I stopped going to the gym probably the last week of February. Well on March 13, I saw a charge from Sweathaus for $59...I called as soon as I saw it. I spoke to a guy (Austin, I think) who told me he was sorry but couldn't do anything about and would have a manager call me to solve the issue. No one called me. I called the next day in the morning , March 14. I spoke to Kayla, who told me a manager would call me to discuss the issue. Again, no manager called me. I called for the 3rd time on the morning of March 16 and spoke to a guy, I can't remember his name. I told him I had called for the 3rd time now trying to speak with a manager and no one has called me back. He said he would get the manager now. Well, the manager was unavailable, so he told me they would call back. I told this guy I was going to file a claim on my credit card because I've tried to communicate and no one calls me back. He said they would call me that day. Surprisingly, no one called me again! So that night, I filed the fraudulent charge. Luckily I got my $59 back. It's pretty pathetic no one can pick up a phone and deal with issues like this. Sorry I don't want to pay an insanely high membership fee for using some equipment I can get at Chuze for $10 a month. I wouldn't recommend this gym. read more

This used to be a really great place for simple workouts or great classes. Unfortunatly they have made huge changes almost doubling the membership cost while taking away ammenties. They recently fired all of the great staff they had and are terrible to the members. I would suggest any other gym in the area. I would even go back to L.A. My wife and I have been members of Sweathaus for two years now. It has gone through a lot of changes this year, of which we later learned were necessary to make the facility sustainable long term. In our first year, we did enjoy a substantially discounted rate over which members had formerly paid in the early founding years of the gym. Rates did eventually go back up our second year, but still less than the original rates, and much less than other specialized facilities. Towards the end of this year, Sweathaus unfortunately had to discontinue the kids care service. While it was in operation, our kids loved it as the staff were great with the kids, there were lot of hands on activities, and there were tables for our kids to do their homework. To get around the lack of the service, we had to switch our mid-day workout to the evenings while our kids were at their jiujitsu practice across the street. For our Monday-Wednesday-Friday workout schedule, this worked for a few weeks until hours were cut on Fridays where it was now closed well before the kids' practice. With all these changes, we did explore other gyms in the area, but we were simply unable to find a facility in the area that was comparable. For the types of workouts we do, it's hard to beat the facility at Sweathaus, with the spacious lockers, large olympic lifting room with racks, spacious indoor turf, and combination of weightlifting equipment. Being so close to work and the kids' jiujitsu school, it was also the most accessible location. With everything considered, we eventually decided to continue our membership and make the best of the situation. Since the new rate now included unlimited classes, I decided to try out a Sweat23 Flexibility yoga class after a lunchtime jiujitsu practice. I'm very new at yoga, having tried it only a couple times many years ago, and my experience at Sweathaus was very positive. The instructor, Becky, was very engaging and explained all the movements impressively well in real time, which was very helpful as a beginner. I highly recommend her classes for anyone else considering yoga for the first time. With the Sweat23 programming, there are actually 2 yoga classes back to back within one hour. For the first two weeks, I doubled it up to fit in a whole hour everyday during the week. However when it got busy at work and I could only do one class, it was very convenient to have the option to fit in just one of the sessions. Overall, we think the facility is unmatched for the combination of workout areas and equipment. It is well thought out and continually optimized. It is clean, organized, everything is in its place, and never too crowded. With all of that, we are able to incorporate more exercises and maximize how much we can do in the limited amount of time that we have for our workouts. read more

Gyms where it's more about socializing and looking around than actually working out? A distant memory once you workout at Sweathaus. I've been a member at Sweathaus for 2+ years now and I've loved every visit. The owner, Dom, has only ever been welcoming and helpful, as are the trainers. Tori and Andrew have helped me personally and I've taken Tori's classes which are always a fun and energetic experience. I've also taken yoga classes with Kelley Poston who is always such a positive and encouraging instructor! When I had the pass to take classes and access the gym, I'd look for her classes and always left feeling energized and peaceful. They offer healthy snacks and drinks for sale and they're remodelin to improve an already comfortable space. Don't let the open concept deter you--the members here mind their own business and there's SO much equipment that cycling in is a thing of the past. Sounds weird but I love their treadmills! They have map settings that make running less boring and more engaging. Towels, both small and large, are provided. Access to all areas except the yoga studios is great but know that especially around noon there are classes that take up the gym area near the outside sprinting grass, and sometimes parts of the boxing area. I have to say the bathroom maintenance is one negative about the gym's locker rooms, particularly the showers and sauna. My positive experiences here vastly outweigh any constructive criticism I came up with; bottom line, join this gym. read more

My wife and I have been members here since Sweathaus opened so we know this gym very well. We've also belonged to several other gyms over the years and Sweathaus is different for the following reasons: * This is more of a boutique workout facility v. the typical LA fitness, 24-hour fitness and FIT. Fewer people and less craziness then you'll find at other places. *Incredible facility that is carefully maintained and super clean. *Well designed combination of free weights, machines, TRX, Olympic lift areas and indoor and outdoor turf. The workouts we do here you can't do at most other places. *Rowers, treadmills and spin bikes get regular maintenance so they're smooth and work like new. *It's not crowded - even during peak times everything you need is available. *Extensive selection of classes with great availability. For the most part you can always squeeze in even at the last minute. *Last but most importantly friendly and knowledgeable staff and fantastic trainers and class instructors. Andrew, Torrie, Chase and Luis are people we train or take classes with and they're all top notch. I can say without a doubt our level of fitness has increased dramatically since we've been members here. You have to put in the work but Sweathaus makes the most of your time and effort. read more

Enjoyed the classes and atmostphere. When it came time to cancel, Carlos interpreted a cancellation as a 60-day notice and charged me from January 10th (when I gave written notice) until March 16th. His e-mail stated: HI Scott your billing date was the 16th not the 17th so being that you contacted us on the 16th about it February 16th falls within the 30 days so you were locked in for 1 last charge. I sent a reasonable response to his "locked-in gotcha" reply...no response. I'm really disappointed with how I have been treated during the cancellation. I can't imagine that Sweat Haus really thinks this is good for business...But I guess since they don't want to refund/call or send me my agreement then I suppose this is how they have chosen to operate. Carlos, that is a 60-day notice. I gave notice on January 16th for cancellation. I should not need to pay thru March 16th. To the best of my understanding, we don't pay in arrears for our membership at Sweathaus. If the 1 day matters, please pro-rate that one-day amount and refund the balance. I am very frustrated that contrary to what you told me and my wife in person when we signed up ("if you just let us a know a day or two before your next charge we can place a stop on it") and now the reality of attempting to make me pay for 60 days post-cancellation. Please send me my signed agreement wherein I have to give a 60-day notice to suspend a membership or please refund the balance. I have a thriving business literally two doors down from you with 200+ students and many of the same customers who also frequent your establishment. I have a similar 30-day notice at my business. I love this gym! Amazing place to train in San Diego, sprawling facility with clean state of the art equipment and machines. No better place to get all your needs under one roof! The members are super friendly and so is all of the staff, always available to help out and lend their expertise. I have been a member for 3 years now and there have been a lot of changes throughout but the excellence that the gym provides has not changed. I've always loved the eclectic amount of classes available to keep your body guessing and challenges. I recently began the Sweat23 program and its one of a kind-hard focused 23 minute classes that push me to my edge and beyond. I was in the search for a crossfit "box", but also wanted the comforts of a normal gym including locker room, shower, weights, machines, etc. I found this place from a search on crossfit.com, and went in for a tour and a free crossfit class. I was blown away! This facility is so nice, everything is new, it's not super crowded (like 24 hour) and you never have to wait to use equipment. The crossfit classes are a new addition to their offerings, and what I experienced was nothing short of superb. The trainers that I've met so far are in another league (Corey, Chase, and Elwin are class acts). The price is more than 24 hour, Frog's, LA Fitness - but when you consider most crossfit boxes are $140-$180 month, what you get at Sweathaus is a bargain! read more

I love Sweathaus. My husband and I moved to the area in December and we needed to find a new spot to train. I typically do not like big box gyms. I feel claustrophobic, everyone is fighting for a machine, and everyone has their headphones on, head down. Sweathaus is the type of place where they know my name, I can get the machine I want to use, and I have the space to do my workout. The staff is friendly, and the place is VERY well maintained. Super clean all the time, and the locker rooms/showers are fantastic. The classes are wonderful. Yoga, HIIT, spinning, and more. I haven't been able to try too many classes because the schedule is very conducive to the mom crowd (9:00 a.m. start times). But, the ones I have tried have been fabulous! I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a clean and friendly spot to train. Updated in 2018: Sweathaus is by far the nicest gym in San Diego, but ownership is disappointing. The owner has driven away 90% of the members. I am so sad I can't go here anymore, simply because the owner is crazy. He literally told people they had bad energy and they weren't welcome. You like your gym hours to be cut without notice? You got it kid. Wanna train with the best coaches for two years only for them to all move on overnight due to a challenging work environment. I started working out here February of 2017, and loved it, I would have easily given it five stars! The yoga classes used to be the packed and the teachers were incredible. Now I have one evening yoga class option and the max I'll see in class is about eight people, sometimes it's only me and one other person. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they got rid of yoga completely! While I didn't mind the sudden price hike, from $59 to $89, I paid $179 at my old studio. I do have a real issue with their CANCELLATION POLICY. I went in and filled out the form and was told I would be billed for one more month because that's just their policy. When you sign up you pay for your first and last months so now I have a gym membership, I don't want, until the end of March. This policy is completely unacceptable and they had no explanation for it only saying they were sorry, they now it's silly, but regardless there is nothing they could do! I'm not really sure what happened in the past five months or so, internally and with management, but this place used to be awesome! read more

Really a sad story here. Not sure what is going on internally with management, but they are losing customers and it's no ones fault but their own. First let me say that they have great instructors. I enjoy all my classes there and on the surface it's a great gym. But.. I must admit, all the recent negative reviews are true. They have lost some of their best instructors, cancelled crucial programs within the club such as child care, and to top it all off the management actually doesn't seem to care at all. I can't understand what they're doing for the life of me. They've got great facilities, a convenient location, friendly desk staff. Seemingly all the right pieces. But something is missing... and it's a pretty big something. I was sad to cancel, but felt compelled to do so. read more

I like to do a variety of workouts spanning from cardiovascular, weight training, and yoga exercises. I primarily take classes because I like having other people to motivate me. I attended 24 hour fitness and corepower yoga in order to be able to do the different kind of exercises I like to do. But since they have incorporated hot yoga classes into their gym (including sculpted yoga which includes weights), I have canceled membership at Corepower and substituted it with my membership at sweathaus. That's because many of the instructors at Sweathaus have a background from corepower, so you're still getting that same corepower experience. Plus, you get an entire gym and a variety of other classes if you ever want to do something other than yoga. And you get all this for much cheaper than what corepower offers! It is a smaller community which makes it feel like a family. The personal trainers at this facility train many professional athletes, which says a lot about the quality of people who come here. The trainers here are so awesome and friendly and they will help you reach your fitness goals, whatever they may be! The variety of classes and equipment is one of the main reasons I love coming here! Also, the facility is very clean. None of that gross sweaty stuff in the locker room or on equipment! The one thing that bothers me is the mirror in the sculpted yoga room does not reach the floor so it's difficult to see yourself when you're doing seated exercises, but I heard they're working on that. read more

If I could give more stars I would. Every time I walk into this incredible facility I am so inspired. On days when I'm just not feeling it, I walk in and my mood completely switches into not being able to wait to crush my workout! I've been working out Sweathaus for a year, my husband for three, and today the owner kicked us out because I emailed about concerns I had with the facility. I mentioned the women's bathroom drain was stinky, there were dust bunnies under a treadmill, and 2 out of the 4 treadmills were broken. I mentioned that an overweight guy, walks around like he just rolled out of bed, on his phone, not wearing a uniform shirt, and unprofessional. Turns out it was the owner (sorry). He accused me of fat shaming, and for clarification, not all the trainers are overweight, so I was trying to pin-point the one who made me feel uncomfortable. In no way did I mean to discriminate. And yes, I possibly could have used a better description. Dom Diluigi, the owner, emailed me back that his gym was clearly not the right fit for us, and that he would pro-rate our membership and let us go. So without addressing my concerns, and taking accountability, he kicked us out. This is very sad because we really enjoyed taking classes with Dat, Luis, and Chase. The classes were great! After reaching out through Facebook, I'm hearing that my experience is not the first, and in fact, the owner is unstable, unfriendly, and does NOT put a lot of thought and caring into making sure his customers are happy. They've cancelled classes and raised rates, attributing it to a business decision. I wish the trainers good luck in their endeavors, and to the clients, don't complain about anything, just suck it up and take it. read more

Don't join!!! Horribly unorganized and I predict this gym will be gone within the year. The daycare is ATROCIOUS. If you have a child here you should remove them asap. I saw them leave a child in a VERY stinky diaper for roughly 10 minutes or more so the front desk girl could finish eating. Why are you eating in front of customers to begin with? Don't you get a break for that? Everyone that worked there seemed to think they were better than you. No one could answer ANY of my questions, about daycare or anything else. Every answer started with "well it used to be".....but things changed and I don't know now. How is that your response to anything a potential customer would ask? To finish it off, I was supposed to get an email or call about rates and details but no one ever followed up with me. It's like at the very core they don't believe they need my business. So so so so sooooooo unorganized. We wound up at Fit Athletic Club and so far so good. WORLDS BETTER THAN THIS PLACE! read more

Overall great place! Love that they have daycare and lots of classes! So far I love the power haus and hiit classes. Not a huge fan of the heated room CARDIO classes , felt like I was gonna pass out. Probably not safe. Looking forward to trying more classes. read more

I tried out this gym on a two week pass a few months ago and LOVED it. They had great classes, it was clean, and the staff was all really friendly. However when I decided to join, I was informed that they raised the monthly fees by $30 AND also increased the price of child care. And then cut back classes on top of it. NO THANKS. Plus I am still getting batsh**t crazy emails from the owner that ramble on about how great his changes are and how terrible it was before he took over. If the owner is reading this I would like you to know you are running your business into the ground, FAST. read more

Very cool gym, seems like more crossfit based which is not my thing. They have some cool machines you won't see at other gyms, but they're also missing some normal ones- f.e. Their elliptical type of machine is very weird. Plus it's too pricey for me. On a different note, and this is kinda ridiculous, but the gym's logo has an uncanny resemblance to a Swastika, everything in the gym is Nazi colors, and Sweathaus is a German name. I think they should change their logo- bad marketing if you ask me. read more

Expensive place. Cheap service. This place "looks" the part but the customer service and lack thereof was equivalent to bottom barrel etiquette. Cult like atmosphere... Unwelcoming... And the associate Megan was unkept in appearance and mannerisms. Disgusted. read more

Been training here for awhile now and the HIIT classes are by far the best Ive experienced. The classes and professional staff helped elevate my fitness levels immensely. read more

This is a state of the art facility! Not your typical public gym. There are many different work out areas and machines. They offer a variety of classes with the best trainers throughout the day which makes it convenient for any schedule! They also have a very nice locker room with showers and a sauna. The membership is totally worth it! read more
